It makes sense that the Winchesters would keep the birth of a nephilim to themselves.

( "A few years back, two, three, the demons and angels alike were up in arms because of a rumored pregnancy. Talk died down, people moved on. Involving yourself with a Winchester is involving yourself in their maelstrom." )

[He can't help but raise an eyebrow there. All of the nephilim he ever heard of grew up like normal humans. There's no precedent for something different that he's aware of.]

This kid looks at least sixteen or seventeen.

( "A spell could accelerate age. Likewise, other species. Changelings, for example." And, maybe for Nephilim. "What do you know about them, David?"

Ezra doesn't. He's not well versed in all things nephilim or angel. Until the Winchesters caused whatever uproar they did, angels kept to themselves, and demons did what they did. It wasn't a shock to know there were angels, or even a God when gods were running around. He still didn't take it well. That could've been the beating he'd taken when he'd finally found one.

Don't try and kill an angel. )

Changelings have the opposite problem. They age more slowly than humans.

[They're not eternally twenty-two the way a full-blooded Fae would be, but their aging still slows considerably.]

And I don't see the Winchesters following through with that kind of spell.

[Fucking with magic so that they can have a teenager rather than an infant? That's not really their style.]

What if it wasn't a spell.

( He's not sure what it would or wouldn't be. This is what he can contribute. He has his own knowledge, his own family's knowledge, but not of every species. Not like a Sam Winchester or a David Gainor. )

Is it unheard of? Something coming into existence of age? All that power has to go somewhere.

[David's mouth twists to the side as he considers, trying to run through the math in his head. Is it impossible?

No. Nothing's impossible when it comes to power and determination.

But if he had to hazard a guess.]

Maybe. If the angel that sired him had ... archangel level abilities. But there aren't many of those left, and I don't see a lot of them breaking rank in that department.

Not to - reshuffle our priorities, but I thought you were here because of the doppelganger.

( "I'm here, Lesser Gainor, because you forked up." To David. "Donna got me into The Good Place." He walks away from the screen, and the desk, and looks out the window overlooking the courtyard. "She likes how efficient the storytelling is. Called every twist, too." He looks back. "I'm here for solutions. And, knowing what's out there, who's out there, that can heal the cured doppelganger, presents us with one future solution. Or, don't you have future solutions in mind.

Maybe how to prevent this from happening again." )

[David raises his eyebrows at the implications in that.]

Are you suggesting we kidnap a Winchester-protected nephilim, Harvey? Because I don't think that's the best use of our time.

[He has a feeling that the Winchesters will keep that handled for them, and it doesn't involve brainwashing a child, which is David's least favorite activity.]

As for how to prevent this from happening again, maybe we don't need to focus on the doppelganger so much, and make this hunter army more of a priority in resolving. And I think that might involve finding out where Allison Argent is going next. I'm willing to bet that would be their next attack.

( "The hunter army that overwhelmed you in London." Sorry, David, you spoke up. "I'm not insinuating we should kidnap a nephilim, especially not from under a Winchester's nose. I'm saying, knowing that something is out there, if we are here again, then we know."

And maybe in that case, they could temporarily kidnap. Or, make sure Elena stays in the Winchester's good graces.

"It could be as simple as making sure Elena and the Winchesters remain on good terms. Seeing as how they have a small supernatural army of their own.

Not that I'm discounting your idea, David. I think learning where Allison Argent will be next is a good bet. Real solid." )

( "I needed to see for myself. You call your husband, you tell him the doppelganger is in critical condition. Then you call him back. Everything's fine."

[He takes a breath, trying to keep them both on track.]

So what's the plan, gentlemen? How are we proceeding?

[Let's look forward, not back.]

The plan is, we don't trust your husband anymore. Not alone.

( That's the plan. That's been the plan. )

Until further notice, your business will be done remotely because you are now in charge. The plan is, it's your turn to come up with a plan. Move in, have delayed Newlywed bliss and then, decide. Elena needs to stay safe and she needs to stay close. For now, any news of a Nephilim stays between us.

( That's too big a wildcard and he doesn't even trust the Elders with that. )

Unless, you have an excuse at the ready or a reason you don't want to reunite.

[David is relieved, honestly, that the nephilim is being contained for now. He also is pleased that his job is going to be to stick with his husband, but he keeps that off his face.]

( "And you. Consider this your warning. You're on notice. This is your foul. Your only foul."

Ezra bites his tongue, nods, but does not have as good a poker face as his husband's. It's already better just having him in the same room, not to mention zip code.

And, he's not being terminated. Or, relocated. )

( "Neither of you will." Okay? "Since I don't have a car downstairs..." )

Yeah, yeah.

[He gets to his feet, making his way to the door of Ezra's office. When he opens the door, it's not the hallway of the hospital, but another elevator, that will take him back to Pearson Specter.]

Your chariot awaits.

( Just. Intimidating. Glaring. And then he's out, leaving two people who love each other but haven't seen each other in person in days. )

That - went better than we could have hoped.

[He makes his way back around the desk again, before moving in closer.]

[Something a little softer, now that Harvey really isn't within eavesdropping range.]

( David's earned the kiss Ezra's been waiting to give him, away from Harvey and the rest of the hospital. Before he turns too lascivious, he pulls back, not letting go of him, nor steeping away. )

( Leaning past him, he checks the clock on his desk, never mind his Applewatch. )

Technically, ten minutes ago.

Then why don't I go pick up some dinner and meet you back at your place.

[He smirks.]

And we can further "discuss" where things are going to go there.

( Dinner they'll heat up in the oven again later, he assumes. )

Alright. I'll clock out, shower, change. Put my best foot forward. I hear there's a new boss I need to make a good impression with.

( But, fine, he can slither out from beneath his husband so he can get things together.

Logging out, he grabs his back and slings one loop over his shoulder before coming over and kissing him again. )

Avoid Elena's floor.

( After dropping by the nurse's station and gathering the clothes he's not going to change back into from his locker, he can't get to his car fast enough, not after that close shave. He drives home and parks his car far enough up the driveway in case his husband brings one home. (Being a witch and all.)

He thoroughly showers, does his hair, and changes into something pretty sleek and form-fitting, knowing that he will probably not be wearing it long enough for it to matter.

But, it does.

David has his own key if he wants to use it. Two tapered candles are lit on the dining room table and he is mid pour of two glasses of a deep Merlot. )

[The food he picks up is just basics from the grill, so by the time he arrives and lets himself in, he feels a little underprepared.

He didn't think they would ... actually be having dinner, but he can go with it.]

[He makes his way inside, closing the door behind him as he eyes the table.]

( They're not going to have dinner. Well, not right then.

He takes the bags out of David's hands, sets them on the table and it's go-time. He just wanted to look this good before doing it. He doesn't even make it to the bedroom. He doesn't need to.

Later, in boxers and an open button down, Ezra preheats the oven. )

How was my second first impression, boss?

[He laughs as he comes up behind him, pressing a kiss to his neck.]

Very favorable. I think we're going to make a very impressive team.

[Being on guard the way he needs to be with Harvey is always a hard switch to flip, but he's starting to get there, feeling some of the tension melt from his shoulders.]

( The laughter is ... not expected, but his husband's laughter, his anything, is better than anything else. Even though... maybe he didn't expect after sex laughter. But, laughter is a part of sex. It's fine, it's fine. )

Mmm, we always have. We've just been more about the dividing than the conquering.

( Spending so much time away from one another. He's already going to get too used to this. He knows it. )
