[Isaac's head tips to the side, because oh. He understands why that would bother Scott. He finishes chopping the onion in front of him, before turning to face his friend.]
I think it says more about them than it does about you.
Does it? Because, according to him, my reputation is being a killer. That people who come into my territory don't make it out. That's what he thinks of me.
[Isaac leans back against the counter as he faces his friend.]
I saw it a lot in Europe. People listen to the stories that come out of other places and they make assumptions. About you, about me, about anyone who's made a name for themselves. And generally when someone hears a story, how they interpret it is based a lot on how they see the world.
Oh, yeah. I had an uncanny knack of showing up places just before bad things happened. I was there to warn them, but some people took it as me bringing the trouble with me.
[He shrugs.]
Maybe I did, maybe I didn't. But the part that matters is that the people who were there know that I was there to help them, not hurt them.
Yeah. As I said, more about him than it does about you.
[He reaches over and places a hand on his friend's shoulder.]
The important thing is that you know who you are. Are you starting to lose that?
[He's not asking it to judge him, but Scott has always been their moral compass. If he feels like he's losing track of that, it's their job to bring him back.]
No. No, I know who I am and what I want to do. Just because we're here doesn't mean Liam and Mason don't have it under control. I worked hard at saving shapeshifters of all kinds. I won't stop. Not because of him and not because of my reputation.
[Isaac nods and nudges him gently with one shoulder.]
For what it's worth, the people that matter know who you are too. And the people who don't, will learn. But how people talk about you ... that's not really something you can control.
[He's assuming it's special if he's flying to New Orleans for this date, but he hadn't gotten this end of the gossip. Probably because it just happened and Allison didn't know.]
Her name's Davina. And I think she's very special. She's one of the most powerful witches in New Orleans. She's regent. She's really cute, too. She invited me to a beignet festival.

( And with him, there must be others. )

( Hearing this does soothe his worry and guilt. Momentarily assuaged, he turns the heat down under the browned meat. )

( He nods, understanding what he should take away with it. He covers Isaac's hand with his as they have a moment between true friends and wolves.
And then he moves to the cabinet to get the taco shells. Important scariness aside -- )
... Also, I'm flying to New Orleans. Saturday. I have a date.

Oh yeah? Anyone special?

( Adorbs, right, Isaac? )

Then enjoy it. That sounds like a good time.

( He turns the oven on, setting a few shells on a baking pan. )
Thanks, Isaac.

[And with that, they will settle in to enjoy their late night tacos.]
