"We're on our way," Elijah says, but Rebekah has brought the phone down. So. He still says it.

Somewhere far away, an imbalance occurs and as Kieran shuts her suitcase, she looks up in the mirror just in time to see her spelled pendant flicker and crack.. )

[Her eyes widen when she sees it, her fingers closing around the pendant and starts fumbling for her phone. She sends a text:]

[Then, impatient, she doesn't wait for an answer, she just calls and listens to her brother's phone ring, waiting for him to pick up.]

( Her text goes unanswered, mostly because her impatience kicks in.

Two rings in, the call's picked up. The voice on the other end isn't one she recognizes. It's male and not her brother's Probably younger, if she were to guess. As for the voice himself? He was in her brother's presence when his ring flickered. And this? He wasn't born yesterday. (20) )

Kol knocks on the door about a second, two later.

"Everything ready?" )

[She doesn't really have a chance to catch her breath, to think. She fires off a text to Alexander, demanding to know where he and the group have set up shop, intending to tear into him in person.

Then, she takes a breath and turns back to Kol.]

I can't go with you.

[She knows she can't ask him to abandon his sister, if she might be in trouble, even if it's to save her own sibling. She knows she's handling this on her own, but she can't help but feel a little disappointed that this is how it's going to go.]

( It's been... five minutes? And focusing on everything Rebekah and Elijah's phone conversation, he did not hear Kieran's. )

My brother's gotten his dumbass into trouble, and I need to go make sure he's okay. My pendant cracked and then some asshole answered his phone and was being a fucking creep about it.

[She takes a breath, running a hand over the top of her head.]

I know you have to go after Rebekah, but I have to handle this.

( He tilts his head. )

I don't know enough to tell either way, but I'll let you know the moment I do.

[She pauses as her phone dings and she gets a response to her very angry text.]

But right now, I have to see if I can hitch a ride to Baltimore. That was his last known.

I'll drive you. The least I can do is detour and be an extra hand. Elijah and Klaus have their significant others and the most powerful witch in our family line on their side. So, it's settled then. We're going on our own road trip.

( She can protest. He'll let her. But, for now, he's stepping up. He didn't with Davina, not well, and he can now. )

[There's a moment when gratitude crosses her features, because she thought she was going to have to handle this on her own. It's not that she doesn't want him to come, she just didn't think she would be put first.]

Are you sure? I know how much your sister means to you.

[Rebekah specifically, they've always seemed close.]

She does. She means the world to me, especially when she's speeding in front of cars and forcing me back into this family, but, I would just be another body. Three Originals are enough and I know if they need my help, then cavalry Kol will be called.

( He says this in her arms, trying to get her to see just how he feels. )

In the meantime, we need to suss out what's up with your brother.

[transientem]

[She stares up at him for a moment, incredibly grateful, before pushing up on her toes to kiss him. It's far more than she expected, and probably more than she deserved, but she's grateful to have him on her side.]
