[Yes, Caroline spots him as she's making her way back from giving Scott his tour. Yes, she sees him sneaking around in his own house.]

( tyler snuck in, or tried to. luckily, she catches him already dressed. he's got his suitcase rolling behind him. that's right, he's grown up. no longer is he the duffelbagger, caroline forbes.

he turns, a slightly sheepish, caught look on his face. )

I heard there was a graduation. Don't you need a Lockwood ambassador?

( buying it? )

Jeremy wanted eyes on the situation. I agreed. You are looking headmistressy. What do I have to do to be sent to your office?

[She rolls her eyes, before pulling him into a hug. Even if their relationship isn't what it used to be, she still has a spot for Tyler Lockwood in her heart.]

It's good to see you. It's been a while since you've been live and in person.

[recrudesce]

( That crude humor is still there, but only with people he knows this closely. )

The packs, they're more widespread. Everyone is on high alert. Monroe's -- she's bad news. I paid cash driving back. How is today looking?

So far so good. The Salvatores, Klaus and Hayley took care of a bunch of them last night, and it doesn't seem like there are any left to make a repeat appearance.

[Which is for the best because Caroline would have been very upset if her graduation was interrupted.]

( If you're wondering why he's not announcing his return, you just gave him two reasons, Caroline. )

But maybe once this is all said and done we can catch up? Elena should be out of the hospital in a couple days - we could all have dinner?

I'd like that. Preferably, without any Mikaelson's.

What about this hunter, Dean? Lotta new names I don't recognize.

Dean Winchester and his brother Sam were here for the graduation. They did not bring the trouble with them. The trouble was already here. They were very helpful.

[Yet big old vampire racists. But she leaves that out.]

So, all this, it's just a coincidence. That's never happened.

Remember all we had to deal with was my being a werewolf and Katherine?

That was a much easier, much simpler time. And sometimes I kind of miss it.

Is Jeremy coming in to town too?

He's not planning on it. He still has - hunter issues.

( He's taken care of them, for the most part, but he's always on edge when too many vampires are around. That, and, he doesn't quite trust everyone in town. It's a little bit about Lockwood solidarity. And a little bit about him doing his own hunting. )

Elena asked, he's at his gallery.

[Caroline nods, which disappointing. She's sure that Elena probably could use seeing her brother face to face. But that's something that can be settled later.]

Well, I'm glad you're here, and I'm sure Elena would be happy to see you if you wanted to swing by the hospital.

How's she doing at playing a slow recovery?

( That girl can do anything. But, tell her to sit in a bed for hours. He doesn't know how long that will last. )

The best she can. She had a chatterbox for a roommate for a while, but I think he might have his daylight ring at this point. I do know that Ryan was going to stream the graduation for her, though.

[She knows Elena and she knows you. You have a face that girls want to gossip to, Tyler.]

Elena thinks there's something to gossip about, but there's not. Ryan's a friend.

Caroline, you grew up in Mystic Falls. How often did gossiping amount to nothing.

( Considering the two of you and the gossip mill that summer. )

Hey, not my place. I can leave Elena on read from now on. Ryan who?

[She doesn't expect it to stick, but she appreciates him making an effort to make her feel better.]

( No cute werewolf girls, or witches, or otherwise. He's been sticking to the cause for years. The Armory takes up most of his time, now. And then checking in with Packs. He spent some time in New Orleans. Who thought small town jock Tyler would be the Jetsetter. )
