[This particular BFF brunch was supposed to be in person, with all of them there for the graduation, but that didn't work out as well as they had hoped. Bonnie was still in Europe, doing whatever it is she's doing, but that doesn't mean she doesn't make time for girl time.

Caroline's finishing setting up in the kitchen, putting the last of the brunch options for her, Buffy and Elena on the table when her tablet setup begins to ring. She darts across the room and accepts the video call with a bright smile.]

Bonnie!

( Whatever it is she's doing. She doesn't love that that's her reputation. The vague Jetsetter, but over the years, she did find a bigger purpose. It's just witchier and more international. She flies in when she can. She has Enzo money, and her dad's savings. One day, she'll settle down, probably back in Mystic Falls, Grams-style. But for now, there are witches that need her.

Bonnie chooses the terrace, headphones in, mimosas already ordered. Things aren't awesome, but she is cloaked, in a nondescript section of an Italian city. She does have a pitcher of mimosa just offscreen.

And she - first tried to angle it, leave the phone there, but, it falls as it comes through. )

Caroline! Hold on.

( She picks it up showing her bright, and showered face, drying waves of hair and -- is she in an uncomfortably metal chair? That's fine! It's that evening, but she's still well lit. She's just going to hold it for now. )

Are Elena and Buffy there? Am I late?

You are right on time.

[Everyone else is late. But she doesn't say that because she's trying not to nitpick today.]

Where are you? That view looks amazing.

I - can't tell you that. I'm sort of on witch lockdown. But, I can tell you, it's warm here. And beautiful. And I'm eating my way through. Well, eating what's delivered. I'm fine before you ask.

( And safe. )

How was graduation?

It was good. Everything went off without a hitch.

[Which was dicey for a second there, but honestly Caroline just seems so much more relieved that everything went okay.

She finishes pouring their own mimosas, occasionally checking her phone for texts from Buffy and Elena.]

Also, if you think you might be able to take a break from your super secret witch spy life, the twins and their friends are going to be in Europe for some of the summer and would probably love some Aunt Bonnie time if you can swing it.

Yeah, I can uh, I can make that work. Should I anticipate the itinerary in my E-mail?

( If not Caroline's, Lizzie is her mother's daughter. Bonnie, too, pours her own mimosa, bringing it close. )

Lizzie's been planning this trip for literal months. If you don't already have it, it's probably on the way.

[But it's still good to know that Bonnie and Stefan will be close if they should run into any trouble.]

I may not have been keeping up on my E-mails. Witches, they're more person-to-person. I'll check.

( She smiles, though. )

What happened with the hunters?

Everything got handled. I didn't ask for the details, but if I had to wager a guess, they are all very, very dead.

[Because ... well.]

The Salvatores, Klaus and Hayley went to handle it.

The Salvatores, Hayley, and Klaus. We're all getting along, now. Willingly. It's the kids, huh?

( And the years between them. Bonnie has her own Klaus-related grudges, but they are everything else related, too. It was never just Klaus. And she forgave Damon. )

If they were all involved, they won't find the bodies.

Probably. I even saw Tyler and Hayley chatting amicably at the party last night.

[So there's a bit of gossip Bonnie can keep around until she runs into Stefan.]

And yeah, that's what I'm hoping. I honestly don't want to have to worry about it when I have a baby vampire to train and an incoming witch problem.

[Which speak of the Devil, Elena throws the door open as she and Buffy arrive. "I'm late! I'm late, I know. I'm sorry."]

Hayley. Tyler's old werewolf girlfriend?

( Not. Not his girlfriend. Sorry, Caroline. That was a really confusing, dark time for her. )

Incoming --

( Witch?

Buffy is right behind!

"Technically, it's my fault. I never learned how to drive, so the rental is all Stefan's. Two drivers canceled on us. If it isn't my second favorite witch! Hell-o." )

Buffy Summers. You and Willow owe me one.

( That one being a karaoke night. Buffy grins. )

What is up with this incoming witch?

Technically it's more of a recently revealed witch?

[Elena moves to take a seat where she can see Bonnie clearly. She misses you Bonnie. So much.]

Apparently there's a plant where I work who's been keeping an eye on me. But, we think he's from the coven that cast the curse on the Gemini Twins, so Jo and I are going to try and use his being here as leverage.

( Bonnie misses you girls so much.

"That wouldn't be our first coincidence." With anything witchly. )

Do Lizzie and Josie... know about the Merge?

[She nods.]

They found out just after they turned sixteen. We've been doing our best to just let them be kids while we figure things out, but that doesn't always work out as well as we hope.

Not when the Salvatore school has been a magnet for all things Malivore.

( Kids don't really stay kids there. )

Are we sure this coven is one in the same? What do they call themselves?

Jo says they're called the Colony. Two witches came by to see me and a witch that was working with us recognized them. David Gainor and Harvey Specter.

[Maybe Bonnie's heard of them.]

( "Harvey Specter?" Any smile she has leaves her. )

And The Colony.

You've heard of him?

[That peaks Elena's interest, for sure.]

He and Gainor came to see me in the hospital. He was posing as an ADA.

Gainor. David Gainor? Or Ezra?

( Wait, what? )

Harvey Specter came to the hospital?

David came with Harvey. But Ezra's been there for a while. We think he's been my babysitter from the coven.

[Which bugs her, and it's clear on her face.]

I thought we were friends.

( "You didn't recognize his last name?" She asks. "Gainer. David and Ezra. They are renowned. One of very few witch couples. And men." )

And in the Colony. Will was - she did something for them awhile back. The Colony broke off from the High Coven - which is all but scrunched. They disbanded years ago. The Colony is still going strong. They're old and they're strong. It's dark mojo.

He wasn't using Gainor here. He was using Katz. Ezra Katz.

[But also:]

I'm not as tuned into the witch stuff as you are, Bon. But Jo did recognize them. And they didn't seem to want to take me anywhere? They just asked a lot of questions.

[Almost as though they just wanted to get their eyes on her, to make sure she was still breathing.]

I don't know what to say Elena, that's not his last name. Ezra Adin or Ezra Gainor. He has a worse reputation pre-David if that helps.

( "Wait, so, Ezra's undercover? For how long?" )

I met him when I was starting my residency.

[So ... a long time. A good long while.]

Let's go with years. And I'm willing to bet there were other people before him.

[Caroline makes a face. "And to think, we might have never known if Monroe's hunters hadn't t-boned us on the way to the hospital."]
