[Josie's breath catches when the lights come up, glistening against the glow of the water and she settles back into the seat with a sigh. She still can't believe she's here in a lot of ways, and she worries he's going to wake up to it being some kind of fever dream.]

This really is beautiful. For someone who claims to be new to the romance game, you did an excellent job.

( The only dream they shared was Josie's Once Upon a Nightmare a few years ago. This is anything but. )

Just because I haven't played the game, doesn't mean I haven't been there on the sidelines. Unless your sister dragged me in.

[She laughs, because of course she did. Lizzie is the queen of romcoms after all.]

Did you go to her for some pointers?

You mean, did I barge in on her lecture about proper romance in European countries complete with a white board she wheeled into my room?

( She's YOUR sister, Josie. )

Good to know that the lecture was scheduled in such a convenient place.

[Though she will give her sister a thank you, later.]

( Which was the only reason she even got into her room, but, this is back then. Not here and not there.

She smiles, a bottle of wine being bought to them. )

( The waitress pours two glasses and takes the wine back with her. She lifts a glass for a toast. )

[She lifts her glass right back, clinking it lightly against her girlfriend's with a smile.]

[It's so nice to be actually on the same page with someone, for once.]

Our graduation was almost canceled. Is that the first thing that's come up in the last few years that we didn't take care of as a school?

( And their school was the target. )

You know, I'm kind of glad we didn't have to? Don't get me wrong, the Malivore monsters were totally our thing and we handled it best we could, but ...

[The hunters and the danger they represented seems above their paygrade. She's glad the adults were willing to step in for this one.]

I know. It's not an international hit squad. Really funny the adults thought they successfully kept it away from us.

( But, the adults also kind of needed it? Take the wheel so they can just be kids? )

[Josie smirks a bit at that.]

They should know by now that there are no secrets in Mystic Falls.

[At least, not any that stay hidden for long.]

But let's hope things stay calm until we get back. If things get worse, they might need us.

[Even if the adults would rather not.]

Then we have to make the most of the time that we have, don't we?

( Is that a glint in her eyes? It is! )

[She knows that glint in her eye. She raises a curious eyebrow at her in return.]

What are you up to?

Fine wining and dining, obviously.

( And whatever comes after. They come from a TV-14 show! )

[polydeukes]

[They do, it's true. So Josie will let that go for now, and deal with her girlfriend's machinations later.]

You know, it's only fair that I should get to plan a date too.

I'm a little bit surprised you haven't already, but, please. Tell me the day and I will make myself completely available. Dressing for comfort, right?

( She grins. )

Maybe. You'll have to wait and see.

[She'll be sure to give her proper warning in advance though.]

Well, I accept. Whenever. I'll always accept.

( Hope kisses her once, not being too gratuitous as she sits back. )
