[It's a real hit at parties. Scott and Cora catch up at this point and Cora moves past Damon to Stiles, looking over his shoulder at the body.

"What happened?"]

( "Lydia pulled a wailing woman." Damon helpfully contributes. )

And I found a body. Lydia banshee'd and I - ( (7) to lie ) smelled blood.

[Cora knows Stiles well enough by now to know that that's not the truth (16). But at the same time, she's not sure if the guilt she's sensing off him is "I murdered someone" guilt. It doesn't feel like it's enough.

Still, she doesn't call him out on it, swallowing it down behind the Hale Mask of Indifference^TM.]

Should we call the cops?

[She turns back to Damon, as he's the one of them most likely to have had to deal with bodies in Mystic Falls.]

( Damon, not knowing Stiles, suspects there's more to 'smelled blood,' but Stiles also doesn't seem like the type to throw two werewolves and a vampire on a wild goose chase after killing someone. Newbie vampire freaks out, they cover it up. Stiles isn't giving anything up.

Scott trusts his best friend inherently, if he smelled blood, he smelled blood. )

I know the cop. Are we calling them in? ( It is best he get ahead of this, as he slides his phone out and nears the body (4) for perception on the body. )

[Lydia will make the executive decision. And hopefully if they're friends Damon said, they'll be able to figure this out without exposing supernatural conclusions.]

Stiles pulled his wallet. Some guy from Norfolk. That's all we really know.

( They are and they can, plus, she's good at cover ups.

Scott, the true alpha gets a natural 20 for perception as he approaches the body, is there something he may not see that anyone else does (or can he see that this person died and then was munched on) )

He didn't think a carnival ride could kill him.

[Good job, Scott.

First things first, the plausible deniability is getting a little more tenuous as Stiles' scent is on the body. However, there's another scent underneath, another person that isn't human, isn't a werewolf or a vampire, but something else. There are bite marks from where Stiles chowed down, but as he gets closer, he can see that the teeth didn't make the wound. At least not at first.

There are two different teeth marks. One sharp fangs like a vampire, but on the edges of the wound is a different set of teeth. These are circular with small sharp punctures. Something else bit this poor dead guy first.

There's other bruising too, but Stiles wouldn't recommend moving the body if they're going to bring in the cops, but maybe he can point it out when they get here.

In the meantime, on the other end of the line Lindsay picks up the phone.]

Is this a friend call or is this a "you're about to ruin my evening" call?

( That is a lot to glean, and Scott is not about to reveal Stiles' part in it. He knows Stiles has been struggling, and he wouldn't blame the new vampire for finding someone who's already dead. )

I could never ruin anyone's evening - unless I wanted to. ( Damon, you have. Countless times. He looks back at the scene. ) We found a body.

( Scott, crouched down, looks back up to Lydia.

"Something not human killed him, but it's a scent I've never smelled before." )

[patrols]

[Lydia glances over at Cora at that, before tipping her head towards the body.

"Do you know?"

Cora crouches down and tries to suss it out, but shakes her head (5). "Not one I'm familiar with. But I spent a lot of time in South America. It's possible I just never ran into one before."

Lindsay sighs. She was having such a good day.]

Where are you?

( "There are so many things and people we've never come across," Scott says. "There are two puncture holes -- and a lot of bruising. He was beaten, I think." )

Behind the carnival, past the port-o-potties. A ways. He was dumped.

[patrols]

[She plugs the location into her GPS.]

I'll be there and twenty. Make sure no one touches it.

[Cora nods, because Scott's right. "We'll figure it out."

And as Damon is hanging up the phone, another pair of vampires makes their appearance and Caroline looks Concerned that her vampire padawan is in the proximity of a dead body with blood on him.

"What happened? We heard Lydia scream."]

( "Stiles and Lydia found this body," Scott says, with a (1) to attempt to lie about Stiles 'finding' the body, I'm not quite sure how to characterize a 1 in this context, or from Scott, but he can be obtuse.

Ryan doesn't know what to make of this, but he usually doesn't when it comes to Mystic Falls. )

Lydia bansheed.

[Yeah, Caroline is a little concerned about that lie there, Scott (13), and she's going to glance over to Stiles, then back to Damon.]

Did you call Lindsay?

She's on her way. I ruined her night.

( He sounds proud.

Stiles also looks away, why are you looking at him. He takes a step closer to Lydia.

"He was bitten?" Ryan asks. )

[Lydia nods. "We're not sure by what. It's not a bite mark we've seen before, or a scent Cora's familiar with."

Caroline nods as well, before resting a hand on Stiles' shoulder gently.]

Does she need all of us? Or can you handle it?

[phonetically]

( He convinces her - or tries (nat 20, wtf) )

We can handle it.

[She doesn't doubt that. But she also has the lie that was nagging her earlier, and that wasn't the question she was asking.]

I was asking Damon, actually.

[phonetically]

( Of course, she was asking Damon. Stiles does look to Damon.

"We have this. Go. One of us should finish their date. We will track down whatever we have on our hands." )

[Caroline nods again.]

Okay. Keep me in the loop.

[She then gives Stiles' shoulder a squeeze.]

We should talk. Call me when you're done, okay?

[But with that, she and Ryan will head back towards the carnival as red and blue lights on the highway side start to flicker through the trees.]

( Caroline gives guilt like a Catholic or Jewish mom... )

The 5-0 is approaching.

[It's her superpower. But as she and Ryan head off, Lindsay makes her appearance, looking over the situation, before scanning the faces.

"Which one of you found the body?"

Lydia raises her hand.]

Me and Stiles. I'm -

[And then she glances over to Damon to make sure Lindsay's familiar with how things work.]

Lydia's a banshee. She -- fugues?

( He's not completely familiar and doesn't want to characterize it wrong.

Stiles steps forward, raising a hand. "I found it first. I smelled the blood, I -- I followed the trail and found the body." He pauses, considering. "I couldn't stop myself from - from drinking. From him. But he was already dead, I swear."

"Stiles is right," Scott says, jumping in. "There are... fang marks, but there are also two small puncture holes, like he was struck with two needles. Stiles, it's okay." He gets it. "Today is his first big outing and he was doing good." )

[patrols]

[Stiles confesses and Cora nods. That makes sense. She relaxes some and focuses on the body at hand.

Lindsay raises an eyebrow before crouching down next to the body and taking a look. She tips her head to the side as she examines them both, barely making out the other puncture wounds in the neck but since Scott points it out, she's able to hone in (16).]

I see what you mean. It's kind of round too.

[She glances up at the rest of the group.]

Did you guys see anything? Anyone fleeing the scene?

[Lydia shakes her head. "I was out of it."]

[phonetically]

And I didn't see anything, I didn't even see the body before...

( He succumbed. )

The first thing I heard was Lydia walk up. It was dark.

( He was seeing red.

"We're thinking it's supernatural because the schnauzers don't recognize a mysterious scent." )
