[He really doesn't seem bothered by Dean's tightening grip. Then he whips around to his father.]

["Yes, as far as I'm aware your mother is still alive. And she is not finding out about your and Mickey's half-assed plan."]

( If he doesn't play along, then it's no fun. Fuck it, he lets go. )

What half-assed plan?

( He's still playing hunter catch-up. )

Well, Mickey and I were both undercover for two separate parties in Monroe's organization.

[He's not going to tell Dean Mickey's actually a vampire. He's not that stupid.]

Then Monroe caught on to both of us so she sent Mickey to take me out figuring whoever came out on top was more trustworthy, so we faked my death for a minute.

Sounds like Mr. and Mr. Smith.

( Sorry, he's got a feeling about you. But he's inclusive! Ask Charlie! He can totally talk you through flirting with men. He was great at it the one time.

[Michael shrugs. "They didn't consult me when they were planning it, or I would have told them they were being dumbasses."]

( Good move on her part. He's always respected Allison, but Dean and Sam always worked on their own - especially after what happened with the Men of Letters. )

I volunteered?

[Because that's what people want to hear.]

What was going on didn't feel right and trying to help felt better so I leaned into it.

And that got you dead.

( Seems like a diminishing return, but it's not like he hasn't been there more times than he can count. It's more about ribbing the newb hunter. )

Fake dead. It was magic, but according to my boyfriend it was very realistic.

[And it felt realistic enough so who is he to judge.

He's totally fine and not going to have any repressed trauma about this at all.]

( He totally called that one. Also, if you need any help with that repressed trauma, Dean carries enough. )

In my experience even fake magic dead is dead. I see why your old man doesn't want your mom in on it.

[He rubs his hands together as he steps back.]

Though speaking of my boyfriend, I still have some apologizing to do, so ... should we light it up?

Once it's clear her body burns and burns good, Mickey catches up to Cooper as he heads back to his car.

"Hey, can we talk for a second? About that stuff I said when I was compelled..." )

Yeah, sure.

[He turns to face him with a small smirk.]

Because if you're going to take back the fact that I'm your best friend then you're going to be sorely disappointed. You can't take that back once it's been said.

( So, it's not awkward, he considers. )

Nah, man. I wouldn't take that back. Known you too long to find anyone else to put up with me.

( So... they don't need to talk about it, then. It's still awkward for him and something he'll work through seeing as he didn't know how he'd felt until it was too late. Breaking down the systemic toxicity and the deep down urge he could never name... Yeah that'll take some time.

But having a best friend be by his side while he goes through it, that's a good consolation. )

[Yep, and time Coop is willing to give him. As long as he's not misreading the declaration earlier and it meant more than Coop thinks it did.

He nods before reaching out and catching his arm.]

Look, are you okay? With the whole vamp thing? I know you've been one a while now, but now you've got to deal with it on your own without Klaus in your head.

( He is, so that's healthy. But, Mickey's not about to homewreck.

As for the most important thing, something he'd been made to wrap his head around? )

Honestly, I resent my place in this war that got me here in the first place. I got a lot to learn about being one but I'm not haunted by it. I'll be fine.

[Because he doesn't doubt that that's a lot to handle. And it is important to Coop that Mickey is okay, given he feels like, in some ways, that he got Mickey into this.]

Because you're my best friend too.

[And he is here for him, even if he has somewhere else to be.]

[They're complicated, it's true. But Coop will open his arms for that hug and pull his friend close.]
