In another car, Dean's back on his phone, this time he's calling Mary )

["It was not. I'll tell you about it when I get there." And to spare Elena the pain of them being flirty at each other, they'll say their goodbyes and he'll reroute to Kansas.

In the meantime, Mary picks up her phone as soon as she sees Dean's name on the caller ID.]

( It's always good to hear her voice, to know she's still top side and getting her second chance at life. She still lives her own life and that chafes but he can't keep her too close. It's not like he's in town all the time, either. )

Sammy and me are on our way back from New Orleans. Our Virginia spot's been burned. We have two in tow with us and maybe two more cars coming from Virginia. Gonna be a full house for a while.

Sounds like I should stock up on supplies then.

[She pauses because she has had a hint at why her son had been lingering in Virginia.]

( He gives a very a familiar look, a 'what, you wanted to do this in person awkwardly?' he made a decision for the both of them. could've said "in the backseat," as he doesn't know if Allison or Lydia are getting it.

( Elena means something to Dean and he's old enough to not piss it away and dance around the truth. They have a connection years in the making and he sees what Allison and Sam have. Sure, he could've just outed himself. )

( She spends time in the bunker when she wants to. Always has a place there when she needs it. )

( "We're fine," Allison responds, looking down at her phone. Yes, she's going to text the person in the passenger seat.
