The smell of burnt pancakes pervade the downstairs. Julian tried making them that night, but he was never the family cook. That was their father. He never learned. Part of the reason why she worried for her brother. He is actually incapable of feeding himself. But, he and his microwave are big fans. He used her Green Chef subscription for a little while. And when he'd met up with part of the Underground, they all shared cooking and food and meals.
As she climbs the stairs, she can hear the faint sound of a bath being ran from their shared bathroom. The door to her room is open, the door to her brother's is not, likewise their parents. The string to their attic hangs, wind from an open window blowing.
Kol realizes his girlfriend has gone inside. )
Kieran?
( A hand on his sister's shoulder, he follows. )

[Kol will be able to hear her - Original vampire and all - and she heads towards her bedroom door, deciding to look in the obvious place first. It, too, holds remnants of the girls she used to be. Horse posters and boy band centerfolds printed off of the middle school printer.
It might be embarrassing, given how much of a cool girl she tries to be, but part of her misses it.
And yes, she has a Pokemon bedspread, what of it? Charizard is the best.]

Kol takes the stairs two at a time to join her in -- her time capsule. )
Did you find - This is your...

[She holds up a finger and tosses him a teasing smirk, before moving towards the bathroom door. She knocks lightly, before pressing her ear to the door to see what she can hear (20).]
Jules, you in there?

From inside the bathroom, Kieran hears a splash: the exact sound of Julian jumping out of the bath he'd drawn. Soaking wet from the neck down, holding a towel together with one hand, Julian answers the door carefully so the knocker (he knows his sister's voice anywhere) doesn't fall forward. )
Kier?

[As calm as she seems like she's being, Julian would know that as her unhappy voice. Because she is quite unhappy, that this is how they're seeing each other again.]
The clothing is the part that's optional. The answers are not. Just so we're clear.
no subject
Yes, he needs to get dressed. He will. He speaks through the door. )
What are you doing here?
( Something to address later: Was that Kol Mikaelson? (15) for recognition there, Kieran! )
no subject
[She steps back to wait, arms crossed in front of her chest.]
Barnet abandoned you and you're stuck in a chambre de chasse. I'm here to wake you up.

A minute later, he emerges again, this time wearing their father's Death Cab shirt. All his clothes are meant for a teenager and they don't fit, so being stuck here meant he had to root through his father's closet and rustle up those old ghosts. But, he did this to himself, didn't he. It was his deal to make, damn any other consequences. )
And you decided to bring Kol Mikaelson in to - what, save me?
no subject
[And by friend, she means friend, but Julian doesn't have to know about that right now.]
And he volunteered his help because he's my friend. So you should be nice to him.
no subject
( Guess it's getting addressed now and not later. This is not going to go anywhere, though. He's always sucked at actually being a protective brother. She's never needed it. )
What do you mean, Barnet abandoned me?
no subject
[She should probably be nicer to him, but at the same time, she's frustrated and irritated for the reckless choices he's taking. He still has a life to live, and can do all the things people should want to do. And instead he's throwing his life away for her with poor choices.
She is the one who deserves to be reckless and take risks. She's the one already dying. And she didn't ask him to do this.]
no subject
( She already knows, he doesn't have to reiterate this. )
I did it for you. If he helped --
no subject
[Because she will. And she can't really say for sure whether it actually helped, given that she's been fairly asymptomatic as of late. Still, she's angry, and she's going to keep yelling until she feels better.]
You get that the guy you signed up with tends to kill the people he makes deals with, right? Might not have been right now, or tomorrow, or next week even, but eventually, you would die and he would find another desperate human juice box to suck on.

( It felt straightforward. It felt like he could finally do good, good enough to make their father proud, but Barnet wasn't an easy mark. And H had made him a telepathic offer. It was easy to disappear. It was a no-brainer to do everything he could.
He'd spent years trying to find something that could help - yes, without her blessing - that he finally felt like he had.
It didn't matter that he might die in the process. )
Just like I don't tell you what to do with your personal life, you can't tell me what to do with mine. You didn't ask. I'm going to stand by and let this happen? Again? You remember what it was like with dad. Mom couldn't handle it. We could barely handle it.
( ...He, too. )
no subject
[Why do you think she's hanging out with that particular Original vampire, Jules? Think about it.]
You didn't ask either. But what's the point of me surviving this if you're dead too? You are all I have left!
no subject
( Not in this case, so, no point there. But. In other... cases. He just can't think of any right now. )
no subject
[Communicate. That's all she wants. And she will spend her time being ninety percent less mad.]
