Your Aunt Waverly has a serious case of the Purgatories. But, maybe with you matriculating in N-Y-C, she'll be here more often. I'm sure you'd be able to convince your aunt to put down Waverly-shaped roots.

( Including staying awhile.

In the meantime, below the table, she texts her sister the address, the room number and a time an hour and a half from now.
)

Good. Because it would be nice if I could see all of you more often.

[And in response to that text, she gets a thumbs up emoji and a sparkly heart emoji.]

Then it doesn't feel like I have to choose one side of the family over the other.

Us too.

( She has never won parenting awards. But she loves Alice as hard as anyone can love anyone else. It goes Alice > Waverly > Doc > the rest of the world. )

You feel that way? Like you're choosing sides?

[She shakes her head.]

No. I think Dad and I both know he's got a kind of uphill battle ahead of him, given ... everything. But it could look like that, to someone who doesn't know everything.

Earp's are used to people who hold the funhouse mirror up to our lives. Maybe they're right, maybe they're wrong, but what matters is how we see it. ( And maybe they see it the same way. Wynonna saw the crazy. Until the curse was passed to her, she thought she knew what she came from. ) Let me know if you feel like I'm tugging on this rope harder than I should be. I want you to have time with your dad.

[You're fine. Really. I don't mind you tugging." Because Wynonna is still her mom, and again - she doesn't want Wynonna to feel like she's abandoning her for Doc.

That being said they will enjoy their parent time together and later on, Waverly will appear at the hotel and knock on the door she was given, curious as to what her sister is up to.

She also has a big canvas bag full of books from the Strand. She is nothing if not predictable.]

( And Wynonna, nothing if not predictable, answers in a robe over her clothers, a cigar in her mouth and a whiskey in her left hand. )

Welcome to the high life, baby girl.

Wow.

[Waverly's eyes sweep through the room as she makes her way in.]

This is swanky. Rebekah is paying for all of this?

Why it gotta' be Rebekah?

( She removes the cigar, the weight of the door closing itself behind them. )

Whichever nameless benefactor hooked us up isn't as important as the full room service menu at our disposal, or the hot tub on five.

Fair point.

[She will drop it and just enjoy the luxury.]

We are on vacation. We should enjoy it.

You say vacation, I say... trying it out. It wouldn't be the worst idea to put non-Purgatory roots down. ( She owes Alice. It's not a competition between her and Doc. Alice deserves to have both of her parents closer. Not that she'd stay here past - a week? She won't put a limit on luxury. ) How would you feel about sticking around?

( Waverly doesn't have to. She's been without her sister before. But, it's been a long time. )

Saying Jeremy would actually approve of my little N-Y sabbatical.

I'm not opposed. I like New York.

[And she likes not having to stare down her ex every day, but that's a personal problem Wynonna shouldn't be burdened with.]

But you do know that part of this was also allowing Alice to live her own life, right? We're not setting up roots to keep a closer eye on her?

Being closer to Alice is a perk, not a ploy. The girl who ran away to Greece can't keep her daughter on a leash, she'd call hypocrite.

( And bullshit. )

Alice is here. Wanting to be closer, that should win me parent points.

It does. Especially with the parental relationships we had. But we also need to leave her room to grow too. It's a balance.

[She holds up her hands.]

But it's a balance we can manage from here.

You think so.

( Of course she thinks so. It's a good idea. )

Better ring up Rachel and Billy and tell them Shorty's in their hands a little longer than planned. ( That was a nice wedding. ) In the meantime, room service?

Yes, please.

[And with that, they will live it up, Earp style.]
