[It's been a while since Stefan has been back in Mystic Falls, but he wasn't going to miss the twins graduation. He knew that coming home was going to be complicated. He was bringing his girlfriend to meet people. He was bracing himself for Damon's judgement about him dating a vampire slayer the entire ride from the airport.

What he hadn't expected, was getting ambushed at a gas station while filling up his car by a hunter.

According to Damon, there haven't been hunters in Mystic Falls in years. They knew that the school would be a beacon, but they also took precautions for that to protect the kids. Most hunters understood that they were trying to reduce deaths, rather than concentrate them. This isn't to say that Mystic Falls is perfect, but they're doing better than they used to.

Stefan doesn't kill him. He's caught off guard enough that he doesn't immediately go for the kill, and Buffy catches the hunter off guard enough that the guy decides to retreat and regroup rather than push his luck against a slayer and a vampire. This isn't, unfortunately, before he manages to plug Stefan with a few wooden bullets. And those hurt like a mother.]

Gotta love coming home.

[He groans as he sinks back against the car, trying to keep an eye on their surroundings, before glancing down at the bleeding holes in his shirt.]

[She hands over the keys, before gesturing with her hand.]

[He'll just send Dean to Damon's since that's probably where they'll be stashing the hunter until he's compellable. Not that the Winchesters know that yet.]

( Dean takes that information, leaves the car and gets into Elena's ... choice of car. Sure, Elena.

And now it's finally time to call Castiel!

Ring ring ring, Winchesterphone )

[It doesn't take long for him to pick up, and give him the typical Castiel greeting.]

Hello, Dean.

Cas, hey. We hit a bit of a detour.

( And then some, for the record. They were due at Cas' hours ago. But, the way Cas just goes off, it's probably fair to let the Winchesters go their own way. )

Think you can meet us at an address if I send it to you? How's uh - how's Jack doing, about graduation? He excited?

Yes, I can meet you.

[And by meet you, he'll show up as soon as this phone call is over and loiter outside Damon's house until the Winchesters arrive. Enjoy.]

And yes, he's very excited to see you. I think he's a bit sad that school will be over soon.

( Damon can pull out the shotgun and threaten the loitering angel. He won't. Cas is quiet enough. )

He got a proper education. Proud of him. You can tell him we'll see him tomorrow. ( Hopefully. He doesn't know. ) Cas, have the parents been contacted at all? For any reason? Any ... weekend alerts?

There has been a mention about relocating the ceremony.

[He pauses to look at the email again.]

Something about double booking in the town square.

With the amount of friggin events they throw...

( Every. Single. Weekend. Every invite he's E-mailed as Jack's other dad. But. That's good, that sounds legitimate. )

Good. Better to ... not overcrowd graduation. I'll see you soon, okay, Cas?
