( Ezra gives one final look back, but follows his husband out of the danger, and flanks the two of them. no harm will come to this little girl on their watch.
max falls in line with rusty, staying close just behind him. he knows this is something rusty needs. he's not going to call him out on the sadism behind it. he does heal the creature (20) and that femur snaps itself back into place, making it good as new.
jackson holds off, hating the sound of cracking joints and bones. and his people are -- >> lydia, malia, are you out?)
[>> Almost. We're loading everyone into the vans now.
The creatures charge into the room and begin tearing in and while Kirsanov try to fling spells but eventually they pin his arms down and bear his throat. He glances back over to where Rusty is standing, and the other man simply smiles, though it's not a kind one.
He takes one step closer, before saying in Russian:]
I'm going to tear your house down, old friend. And I'm going to enjoy it.
[Then watches as the creature pinning him down tears out his throat. He waits as the flames creep up through the room, not choosing to move until he's sure he's dead. Until he watches another creature tear Kirsanov's head from his spine.
( there's a conversation for another time. something revolving around rusty's hatred, the hate in his eyes. and what comes next after you get everything you want.
what it all means. but, max leaves it all unsaid.
jackson looks away, max doesn't.
when they're given the go ahead, each rolls to see the best means of escape: (1) for jackson and a (4) for Rusty. jackson can't help but cringe at the sounds of the creatures going to town on Kirsanov. max is not familiar with his surroundings and the massive demonstration of violence coupled with Rusty's blind rage has him distracted. )
[Rusty rolls a bit better (12), enough to remember the layout and make his way through some of the smoke. His hand finds Jackson's shoulder, pushing him towards the head of the stairs.]
Go. We're right behind you.
[Then he reaches back for Max, hand finding his arm to guide him the rest of the way.]
They take the stairs one at a time, trying to keep low under the haze of the smoke. They make it about halfway down the stairs when they would likely catch sight of Parrish, having made his way back into the building, clearly unbothered by the fire.
[As they reach the bottom of the stairs, something cracks from above them. Rusty looks back and sees the top of the power starting to collapse. His eyes widen, and he moves to push Max ahead of him to the door.]
( max picks up the pace, half turns and yanks Rusty back with him, so that they both make it through the door before anything collapses. or he tries... (2)
as parrish unwittingly barrels forward into the cold brisk air. )
[Rusty lets loose a spell, shoving Max out into the snow - not the gentlest of experiences, but he's clear of the fire (20). He's right behind him, until he does a head count and looks back with a frown.]
( jackson dives out right after he yells that, (18) to miss the falling debris.
and max (17) ducks and rolls into the snow. which, is freezing, but he's not hurt. give him a second though, because that spell was a head trip. it launched him pretty far.
finally, he brings his head up, to check if everyone got out safe. jackson brushes snow off his nice coat and helps rusty up.
max drops his head down again.
they're alive.
the compound beyond them burns. there are unimaginable otherworldly screams from the prisoners who wants to go down with their captor. he won't forget those sounds and kirsanov's dismemberment for a long time )
[They make their way into the car where David and Ezra are waiting. Once they're all piled in and headed back to the train station, David texts Jaqueline to give the final all clear.
There's still a lot of things to sort out, but for now, the first of the Inner Circle is dead. And that is a victory in and of itself.]
