The goal of the organization was to get to people before things break bad. We mostly work with a lot of people trying to get out of abusive situations, particularly wives with kids or something similar. Sometimes we do some actual vigilante-ing but for the most part this is an outreach and resource kind of program.

But think of this more like orientation. If you're interested in coming on board, because as Mia so helpfully pointed out, I don't have the people power I used to. And I'm working to get Connor back on board, and fortunately Mia is always game, but she said she thought you might be a good fit.
I do want to get a better idea of your skill set. I know you were in the military, and you were a hunter but I'm still not clear on what that actually means. Coop's tried to explain it to me, but I don't know how that translates into applicable skills.
Super powers are probably not going to be an every day requirement. This is more about your people skills, and maybe your practical and/or criminal skills.

Well, a lot of skills were tactical. With my military background. I'm charming. A damn good liar. And I hold a lot to my chest, except when it counts. I'm dedicated and I have my guys' back. Ladies. The squad. I can rope a steer - that probably won't come in handy. And, yeah, I can pick a lock, but because the door to my room in the barracks always stuck and the key was shit. After picking it, like, ten or so times, I left it unlocked. That actually got sexy on a few occasions...
Probably won't here, but lock picking is good. And who knows. Maybe we'll have to go to the rodeo or something and you can show off your roping skills.
["My mom originally designed everything, but he picked up a lot of her tech work after she died," Mia clarifies. Felicity would be proud, because he's done an excellent job.]
Coop will probably be read in eventually, and probably your boyfriend too once you're settled.

I'll go through our cases and see if there's something I can delegate your way for your first case. You'll work with Mia - we always handle cases in pairs.
Great. Once I get Connor back on board, that may switch up and we may rotate, but for right now, you two sticking together is good.
[Mia raises an eyebrow. "You really think he'll buy back in?"

He needs something that makes him feel productive, so I know I can win him over. It's just a matter of wearing him down.
[Poor Connor, honestly, because Zoe is very persuasive. But Connor is also her boy and his social circle needs to stop beginning and ending with JJ because she's not entirely sure that's helping him be less of a disaster either.]
As for Connor after rehab, he's been taking it easy, easing back into life. But, if Zoe calls him down, he will be there. He wants to rope his brother back in, too, but that's another conversation. The team hasn't been the same since Mia disappeared. )
[She knows JJ was there because she was studiously avoiding being left alone with him, but she can't remember if she saw Connor. She was also ... very emotionally compromised so her recollection probably shouldn't be trusted.]
