Has Stefan always been able to cook like this, or is this a past twenty years development? Because this is both technically perfect and absolutely delicious and I may be a little jealous of my sister if she gets to eat this all the time.
( With Xander fracturing, Buffy has been remiss with real girl time. You don't get girl time with Faith. Well, that's not the girl time you get, anyway. And most of her friend-friends are scattered. Lindsay is still a good friend but she's living her own life. She took her post and now she's getting married. Elena, Caroline, and Bonnie have helped fill that void. She's also in her first ever girl group chat.
She does need to properly catch up with Cordelia, and cordially with Angel.
Buffy does the honors of filling everyone's glasses.
"Italian is more Stefan's go-to," Bonnie says. "It was his move when he and Elena were starting out.")
["It's a move," Elena nods as she settles with them, presents for Bonnie and Buffy in hand as Dawn has already gotten hers. "He only cooks on dates and special occasions. And it's also a distraction tactic, when he wants your tastebuds too busy for the rest of you to realize he's up to something."
Dawn smirks.]
He would definitely be able to pull one over on me if delicious food is the a distraction.
( Bonnie stays more silent. Old wounds have healed over, but there is still something that will always be there.
Buffy and Bonnie take the second with their gifts now. )
Stefan and Elena, both. I know we never said 'No gifts,' but wasn't it implied in between literally getting witch-napped, Thanksgiving craziness ( less said about that the better ) and all the non-dead people that maybe gifts weren't a thing?
("That's Elena," Bonnie says, smiling. "It's best to just sit back, open, enjoy."
And so, under no protest, both girls open their presents. )
I bought some of them before we instituted the no gift rule.
[Buffy's is simple and card-shaped. Inside is a cheesy Christmas card with a pun Elena knew she would enjoy, and a gifted spa trip for two, because Stefan told her that Buffy needs excuses for vacations, so Elena is giving her one.
Bonnie's is larger, and when she opens it she'll find a bound leather tome, but all of the pages are blank. She inches closer and says:]
I thought, if you wanted to, maybe it was time for you to start your own grimoire. In case there are people you want to pass down all your witch knowledge to one day. If nothing else, you deserve to chronicle all the big things you've done.
("Technically, it was implied," Bonnie reminds them.
Buffy smiles as she reads the 'slaying' pun and picks up the two spa tickets. She turns them around and shows them to her sister.
Bonnie picks up the leather tome. She opens it to the first blank page and then thumbs through of the other subsequent ones. She looks up.
"It's beautiful, Elena," Elena, she says, holding it against her chest. Thank you.")
I think I speak for my sister and I when I say, thank you for not assigning us homework, but Bonnie, I love that you'll be able to pass down your magic knowledge.
