A powerful coven tried a major binding ritual at the same time a centuries-old curse was broken. Those are both pretty big magical shifts. If it was just an accident, like with Elena bleeding on Matt and the magic doing what it does, it would probably be just Matt and the end of the spell wouldn't have been so ... clean. Complete.

Someone with a lot of power - or the ability to control a lot of power did this. And there are very few witches that could pull something like that off.

In fact, the only two I can think of were with us in Williamstown. So it wasn't them.

( But she's right, from there it's real hard to see the rest. Elena didn't bleed on Jeremy to get Jenna back. Nobody bled on Caroline or Tyler. They weren't even there. Cordelia, Angel, weren't there to get their friend Fred back. )

And the fact that the spell seems complete and there's no lingering threads is really bugging me. It's like it was intentional, not some weird side effect of the ritual. And I said that I could only think of two witches who might be able to channel that kind of power that easily. But they were both with us.

Even if they can't have a look at our new arrivals, maybe they might know a witch who is capable of handling that kind of power.
Dean and Liv are positing a few theories, and one they wanted me to ask about is the power it takes to do something like this. I can see the line drawn from Elena to some, and Dean and Sam, but there are others that aren't involved with any of us, except they were brought back. Allison was there, but does she have a connection to Derek's sister. And so on.
Liv mentioned that the only two witches she would think were capable of something like this were with us for the takeover.
[There's another period of silence, but that's mostly because Freya is typing. There's a lot of "..." coming and going across the bottom of their chat thread before she finally responds.]
I spoke with Davina about it, though I didn't examine any of them myself. She said that while she didn't recognize the magic there was something familiar to it. But the fact that the spell was complete and whole is what concerns me. That does not say accident.
That requires a great deal of intentionality. You need to know exactly who you're bringing back. Have touchstones that connect you to that person. Doing that with one person is hard enough. Doing it with twelve? You would have to be able to channel a considerable amount of power.
The only people other than myself and Rowena are dead. Maybe Hope could, but I think she would tell me if she had accidentally resurrected or transported a dozen people and Davina would have recognized her magic.
I don't know. I believe Davina only looked at Erica.
I believe she's in Mystic Falls with Derek? Maybe you can have a look at her and compare and contrast. I'm afraid I won't be able to make it to Mystic Falls anytime soon.
Not bupkis, but, she agrees. Derek's sister is here and she recommended I put her side by side with Matt or Jo. Maybe Matt and Jo came out of that spell, but, everyone else couldn't have. So, maybe there's a different signature. And then there are Elena's and Damon's kids from another reality. They probably have differences in aura.
( So, the plan is for Liv and Bonnie to do some compare and contrast. )
