[The creature's head snaps back (8), and it groans in response, bell fully rung. Something scuffle's off to Alex's side and as he gets out from under his captor, he sees two more similar looking creatures preparing to circle.
"Go ahead," one of them grins. "It's more fun when dinner fights back."]
( He tries to crawl away, but he only manages to half crab-walk, before making his best attempt to pull himself up. (13) has him upright at least again. )
[And there are more of them than there are of Sam. Also none of them (8, 7, 11) are able to draw a direct line between Sam and Winchester, so they just think there's so much more for them to eat.
[Sam shoots again (17 vs. 11) at the one he's already injured, this time nailing the headshot at close enough range that it does the job. The body drops and he turns his attention to the other two ghouls.]
You can let us go, or you can wind up like your friend. Your choice.
[One does seem to be intimidated enough (14 vs. 4), slinking back from the guy with the gun, but the other (14 vs. 19) doesn't seem so swayed. "Only gun. I think we can take you."
It charges, trying to sink it's teeth into Sam's wrist (6 vs. 10), but Sam slinks back, keeping his gun between them.]
( A quirk of the eyebrow, because that doesn't translate in his mind at all, except, for "teeth" and "slithery." And there's a smell.
He tries to intimidate the best he can, breathing a little heavier than he should. (15) )
I'd listen to the guy with the gun.
( When it doesn't listen, Alex takes his stethoscope out of his pocket and tries to wrap it around the ghoul's neck to keep its ghoul fangs from Sam. (17) )
[It can't slip from Alex's grasp (11), and Sam is able to point blank lock in on the head.]
Duck.
[That's directed to Alex. Sam takes the shot (nat 20 vs. 16), and while it tries to wrench away, it's not enough to keep from doing the damage it needs to do and the second body drops.]
Yep. Seems like they've been lurking here for a while.
[He glances up and sees that the third has disappeared completely, but that may not be for long. He takes Alex by the shoulder and nudges him gently towards the door. He and Dean will have to come back and clear out the rest of the nest later.]
C'mon. We don't want to still be here when the other guy comes back with backup.
They're cannibals that like to take the face of their victims. An abandoned hospital probably gets them a lot of easy meals.
[Teenagers who think it's a cool place to go out and fuck around, and accidentally wind up ghoul food. Then they head back to their homes and take out the rest of the family.
Ghouls always suck.]
I've had a lot of practice. My dad taught me when I was a kid.
[His voice is a little distracted, but that's mostly because he's trying to keep his eye out for any other surprises. But soon, they make their way out the entrance and head straight for the Impala.
In the car, Cordy relaxes with a sigh. "Okay, see? Sam is very good at his job."]

Dude, I'm not for anyone's eating.
( He tries to take a swing at head and not teeth, (nat 20 CRITICAL HIT) )

Not dinner.
no subject
Not at all.
[Sam is standing in the doorway, gun out, moving towards where Alex is standing to put himself between Alex and the creatures.]
You okay?

He can also hold his own, but he can recognize being outnumbered. And he is not feeling cocky. )
Sam, X-Files shadow-cannibals.

Alex stumbles away, still half crouched, watching the body. It doesn't move. Stashing his stethoscope again, he pushes himself to his feet. )
I'm fine. Just a little roughed up.
( He runs a hand along his hairline, finding fresh blood. That was from hitting the ground and being taken. Otherwise, he's in shape. )
Ghouls, huh?

( In Kansas. Yeah, alright, he's not so hurt that he can't walk off the rug burn he's probably sporting underneath his scrubs. )
You're a good shot.

( Ghouls do suck. He knows the answer to the question, but he asks, anyway. )
Your old man taught you? ( What kind of childhood. Better than his? ) To kill cannibals that steal faces?
no subject
[So yes. And no, probably not better than yours. His dad still sucked.]
There's a ... variety, let's say.
no subject
( Like his something his little brother would've been in. )
Thanks. For the assist.
( The save, but okay, Alex. )

Mer, I'm okay. Ghouls.
( "Ghouls?" she asks. )
Ghouls.
( "He shot the ghouls?" )
no subject
[He reaches for the driver's side of the car and waits for Alex and Meredith to get into the car before sliding inside. He glances over to Cordelia.]
Did you call Dean?
["Not yet. Want me to give him a heads up?"
Sam nods.]
Probably a good idea.
no subject
I heard. Ghouls.
( "And Annie Oakley got her shots in," Cristina says, leaning in.
"Be nice. He saved Alex."
"Helped. Not saved," Alex points out. )
no subject
[Cordelia shares a look with Sam before pulling out her phone and calling Dean as Sam starts the Impala and drives them back towards the bunker.]
no subject
Tell me it's not another Sam and me.
no subject
[So at least there's that much less awkward.]
We're heading back into the bunker now.
no subject
( Sure, okay. )
Mom and me'll make up a few rooms. You guys good?
no subject
[Alex got a little hurt, but that's the price of helping.]
I don't think we can ship them all to Brazil the way we did the other Winchesters.
no subject
( It isn't Alex's fault. He never asked to fall through the veil. )
Is that Sam's bright idea?
