He has a daylight ring and has been successfully compelled but I didn't want to babysit him so we left the barrier spell up. Damon can release him when he's ready.

Damon started it, he should be Damon's problem.

( Look, Buffy is usually a team player. But, Damon is not. And, since he hasn't reached out, made amends, or asked for help, she's not changing her and Stefan's plans. )

So... I have girl gossip.

[Stefan would much rather talk about what Buffy learned at brunch rather than Damon's new baby vampire.]

Bonnie has been eating her way through Europe.

( She grins, nose scrunching up. It's her least juicy piece of gossip but it is gossip nonetheless! And she lets that linger there as she goes to get herself a glass of water. She'd packed the morning before, to be ready, so they have time to lounge. And gossip. )

[He does squint, confused at the phrasing.]

( She smiles, though, sipping from her water. )

It took them long enough.

Months. Then she announces it like it's not a foregone conclusion. Not that she was the only one with news.

[Stefan's eyebrows go up even higher because if Bonnie isn't also getting laid then the only other remaining person at brunch is ...]

( Remind her. Also, she's really just asking Stefan's opinion, not her own of course. )

[Stefan considers before shrugging.]

Not the worst hunters I've ever encountered, but maybe not the best either. Why?

[And then he squints given the previous topic of conversation.]

Sam or Dean?

[Not both. Please don't say both. Elena does not need to return to her mistakes of brothers past.]

Dean. Not - no. History is not repeating itself. It's been four days. ( But, fair enough to say it. It ... is... Elena. ) They talked and one thing led to another. He's actually staying in town.

Well. That'll make things interesting.

[Given the two baby vampires and everything in between.]

But good for Elena.

Right? Good for Elena. It has been too long. Not that every girl needs a guy or a girl or - anyone else but herself, but, this is of the good, right?

It is. It's about time she settled down with a human guy.

[Then he smirks.]

Especially one that seems to have as many supernatural problems as she does.

Yeah, Dean does have a checkered history. But, he's age appropriate and more than capable of defending her should he need to. Not that she's not plenty capable herself. And a Winchester. Supernatural royalty.

( Their names are synonymous with a lot. )

I'm sure the witches that are stalking her will have a field day.

[Is he kidding? Probably not. They'll have to wait and see.]

Yeah, about them. What is the plan there? Because, as a girl who's been stalked - too many times...

Jo says she and Elena have a plan, so I'm going to trust that plan for now.

[Jo is a little more level headed than the rest of them, and likely gauged if this was something Elena was comfortable with first.]

But should they become a bigger problem, I'm sure someone will take care of it. They haven't tried to kill or kidnap her so far, so we'll see how things play out.

Are they expecting that? Should we -- stay? Do they need us to stay so she doesn't get kidnapped or killed?

( She knows they shouldn't. She knows they have plans. She just needs to be talked off a very sudden ledge. )

[He shakes his head as he lifts his hands, bringing them to rest on her arms.]

We do not need to stay.

[That much is certain.]

And honestly, we don't know what to expect at this point. I think that'll come more once we know what they want.

And by we, you mean they, and us by WhatsApp proxy. ( And Emails nobody sends Stefan. ) I'm just saying, if anything is happening that makes you want to stay. You can stay.

I appreciate that.

[He does. Because he still cares about Elena and doesn't want anything to happen to her.]

But if Elena wanted or needed me to be here she would ask, and she hasn't. And she also knows that if she needs me, she can call.

She can. And she will when she needs it. But, while we're gone it sounds like they'll have hunters and werewolves here.

Yes. Fortunately the werewolves are helpful ones.

[At least so far.]

I've heard good things about Scott McCall. Let's just hope he lives up to them.
