I can handle them remotely. They're flying out to Europe this week. That is, we're still letting them go, right?

They have no reason to worry about them until they merge or I make a fuss. Which, I'm going to try not to do. For the record.

For once, I'm glad they're going to be far, far away from us. I want them to just ... have fun and enjoy their summer. They've earned it.

They graduated. I don't think I've ever been more proud of anything.

[She smiles as she turns to face him.]

Me either. And they had an almost completely normal school experience.

Minus the monsters, the fates, and generally being in danger every other day. Give or take a week or two off. But for us, that's normal.

Eh, well. Monster hunting builds character.

[She looks up at him with a smile.]

What do we have to do today?

Well. Our children are off getting ready for their graduation trip, I don't have to be at the hospital until tomorrow and you are officially on summer vacation.

[She pauses.]

Though all of that makes me realize that our "you can't do anything reckless until the girls go to college" contract has officially come to terms. Should I expect you and Damon to run off and almost get yourselves killed this summer?

Damon is currently on his best behavior, hoping to earn himself a date. Besides, like Elena would let either one of us run off. Anything reckless I do, it's going to involve my wife. If you think of anything.

( Tell him. He's all ears! )

[She thinks for a minute before her eyes light up.]

Oooh. You know what would be really wild and crazy? Remember that B and B we took Caroline to when we were trying to get her to turn her humanity back on?

[Look, most of their fond memories involve someone bleeding, they might as well own it.]

Maybe while the girls are away, I can see if I can swing a weekend to ourselves. No children, no Damon, no looming coven of doom. Just us.

Yeah, other than taking it over to torture and dupe Caroline, I remember it was ... quaint. And it was remodeled a few years ago. You think there's an opening?
