[Elena takes a breath as they sit in front of Ezra's house. She knows that there's a lot of complications in this, and they might not find the answers they're looking for, but it's a start. And it also could be a step forward in Elena taking charge of her life again.

If nothing else, they'll find a way to maintain the status quo. They need to be sure that Ezra doesn't go anywhere. Glancing over to Jo, she offers her a small smile.]

You ready?

[Jo nods in agreement, before reaching for the door handle. "Let's do this."

They both head out of the car and head up to the front of the house. The two women look at each other one last time, before Elena reaches forward and knocks on the door.]

[Davina Claire is not a woman that's easily swayed. Since she was sixteen years old, she's been a powerhouse French Quarter witch who was forged in blood and the elements and knows what she wants. She knows who she is. She's brought Original vampires to her knees. She is formidable. And scary. And absolutely does not melt at the floppy smiles from the new werewolf in town. Nope. Not at all.

Scott McCall is a menace.

Freya Mikaelson is also a menace because he's been here a couple days and Freya has already determined that he makes Davina soft and squishy and therefore has been shoving them together as often as possible. But the mission is important and Scott is the only powerhouse around to go with her - they're doing this in pairs - so she takes a deep breath before approaching him in Rosseau's.]

Hey. Ready to go?

[It's not often that you find an Original vampire making a mess of things. It's especially not often when that person is Elijah Mikaelson.

It's been years since they've seen each other, since before Bela died. If it weren't for Rebekah's blood, she would still be dead. But from what she remembers of Elijah, he wasn't one for messy kills and haphazard bodies. She had been following the trail, as a mess for one of them is problem for all of them, but when she reaches the other end of the rainbow ...

Well, it's certainly not what she expected.]

Elijah?

[They were friends once. It doesn't occur to her that this could be dangerous.]

[After everything that goes down in Mystic Falls, Cooper realizes he can't continue to straddle the fence. He hadn't been sent in - he's still on thin ice after the tantrum he threw post-London. But he hears about the aftermath, all the deaths, all the damage, and he knows that he can't stay out of it.

The Mikaelsons are well and truly on the board now. This has officially become a suicide mission, and no one seems to see that yet.

After a few days of deliberation, he pulls out his phone and texts the number he's been trying to stay away from:]

Can we meet?

[As promised, Malia and Aiden are waiting outside of Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, chatting idly while they do. Malia is waiting to take Derek directly to Freya, while Aiden is waiting to take Hayley to the bayou to catch up with the wolves.

Her head turns when she catches a familiar scent on the wind, and she raises an hand in a wave to flag down Derek.]

You must be Faith.

[Stefan told Buffy he would make an effort to make friends. Buffy had encouraged him to talk to Faith, saying they would have a lot in common. Stefan's not sure what he would have in common with a vampire Slayer, exactly, but he's willing to take the shot.

He holds up his hand in a wave as he makes his way closer.]

I'm Stefan. I'm your patrol buddy.

[They haven't really talked about anything yet. Which, you know, she probably should have seen coming given the Ryan of it all. Not that anything has felt weird or off - if anything, it's actually felt really good and nice and right which. It's been a while since anything has fallen into that category.

But, this is still Caroline Forbes. And she still needs to find a way to use her words.

So after hanging up with Bonnie and cleaning up the remains of brunch, she tracks down her companion and starts the ever important conversation that they could probably wait a little longer to have but let's be honest. Caroline's always more comfortable basking in the afterglow when she knows what that glow is leading to.]

Hey.

[She smiles as she lingers in the doorway.]

Can we talk?

( When your assignment changes and then your husband essentially becomes your boss, regrouping takes more time, and that may mean your plan finds itself at your front door. For the most part, Ezra has kept separate and neutral, only giving up himself being a witch and not why he's here. But, in Mystic Falls, dots are connected faster than Ezra could prepare for who's on the other side of his door. If only he knew just how far Elena's network reached. He's been so concentrated on everything in Mystic Falls, that the hunters descending, the Winchesters, werewolves and banshees, all caught him off guard.

Maybe it is better his husband is here now.

(It's always better when David is with him.)

Not expecting anyone, Ezra is the one who opens the door, magic always at the edge of his fingertips before he purposefully and visibly relaxes, forcing a smile knowing all the while the 'officer' Elena had met is in the other room. )

Elena. Dr. Laughlin. Good morning.

( It's almost like Scott is this nice to anyone that ever crosses his path, with notable and homicidal exceptions. And Derek Hale is a walking example of someone Scott now sees differently than when he'd first met him. He knows Davina holds power and court in the French Quarter so as nice as he's been, he's also tried to be as respectful as he would be to, say, his mother, or another elder he trusted. Even though Davina is only a little younger than him.

And Scott has always had an oblivious streak to him when it comes to romance. He's smoothed it over overtime, but if he's not looking for it, or he knows that there's a bigger, more dangerous priority on the horizon, then he may miss it.

That would be if he didn't have werewolf senses he doesn't acknowledge. He catches only a glimpse of Freya teasing her before taking her and Freya to dinner one night. But, this time, he's sitting quietly in Rousseau's while he hears a very clear conversation between them before she joins him. A blush travels up his cheeks as he sips from the complimentary coffee he was offered by Ivy.

Also, he doesn't know what makes his smile floppy (maybe it's his chin), but when Davina joins him to leave, he gives her his best floppy smile he can give. )

Yeah. Are we on foot or do we need my motorcycle?

( No matter what age Scott is, he continues to push myself in his mind. A reminder. "Keep cool. Keep cool." )

( He leaves a trail of bodies. It's what he was made for, wasn't it? A man with no name and hunger for one thing he shouldn't. But, he has no self control, not when he gets one taste. His trail luckily leads someone back into a dark, dank alley. If Elijah were able to see himself, he'd be disgusted, and he'd need a shower right away. Not to mention, the t-shirt and leather jacket he currently sports are probably not what Bela is expecting.

He snarls, turning to face the voice, mouth dripping in blood, eyes dark. )

You shouldn't come any closer.

( They travel around, neither William nor Cooper using the numbers they exchanged. Mia makes only one or two pointed comments, but William is now officially on assignment and Cooper is the enemy, as much as he doesn't believe he is. William tried to sow as much doubt as he could before falling into old playboy habits. And then they'd been interrupted. And that was it.

He's on a day trip in Prague for, as Mia put it, downtime. If he's going to sign his life away (real overdramatic), then he should get time off. So, they go together. They take in a beautiful concert, run into beautiful men and - well, William's mid-Russian conversation when his phone sounds. And graciously, the man tells him to check it. He is far away from family.

The timing, though.

William lets it sit, first, because he's preoccupied and trying to give this guy his attention, like anyone would deserve. But, it's only a half hour later where he recognizes William's head is somewhere else.

Well, kind of. But not really, Gjorivk.

He wants to ask, why, what do you want, you had my number for a few days. Why didn't you call. No, he's the enemy. He's a hunter. Born and bred hunter. )

I'm in Prague now and only until tomorrow.

Your guy?

( Coincidentally, considering they both end up one seat away from one another, the odds of Malia knowing Hayley's contact were high. He asks anyway, just to make sure as he waves back to his cousin. )

( You'd be surprised, Stefan. You're in the presence of a murderer. Not to your caliber, she'd never dream of taking your Ripper title away from you, but she had her own unhinged stints. She cornered Buffy at one of the castle parties and got all the nitty gritty while Stefan was taking care of something else. Reminded her of Angel, to be quite honest. But, he also didn't. And Buffy made it clear, she and Stefan were not she and Angel.

Faith's out in the yard today, having just let go a group of slayers she'd been training with. )

Will if it isn't Buffy's new squeeze in infamy.

( What, that nickname has traveled overseas. )

Faith.

( Ryan is a man of very few words. But, when it counts, he can say the right thing. Unfortunately, until he realizes he has to, he comes off aloof. That has always been the Ryan Atwood way. Laconic, but pretty easy going. More hardened now, especially after Marissa's death, a stint in Mexico and then crashing and burning with Taylor. Not to mention, almost being eaten alive.

But, Caroline, from day one, has been support he wasn't able to voice that he needed. And she wanted for nothing. It's what she did. She helped anyone. She worked at the school. She recruited. And Ryan became her right hand. He nursed the crush for months, was similarly teased for it - inexplicably in the presence of Klaus Mikaelson - and then finally owned up to it after graduation.

And that was a good night. But, then Caroline has brunch plans and okay. Of course she should have brunch with her girlfriends. He's not going to stop her, or insinuate himself.

He might do better getting more friends... but, he always kept it tight knit in Newport, too. Maybe in time. He kisses her goodbye and dresses, too, because Caroline's house isn't his, and maybe he fails at really saying anything that gives her any idea how this went.

And that's why she finds him at the Grill, a whiskey taking the vampire edge off. Expending all that energy, and getting that kind of release, finally, it definitely bumped up that want, so he chooses alcohol because his sponsor has always been about moderation.

He hates this, though. He nods, and then decides the gesture he could make is to slide over so she can sit next to him and not across. )

Everything okay at brunch?

Yeah, brunch was good and much needed.

[The only thing that would have been better was if Bonnie had been there in person, but she can't help but hope that one day, the three of them will be together again.]

I hope I wasn't too ... abrupt this morning.

[If she hadn't had plans, it probably would have been a very different story, and they would have had this conversation already, but alas.]

["That's my guy." Hayley nods with a smile. Aiden catches that and gives a wave in return.

"Guess that's my cue. You coming back to the bayou later?"]

Depends on where he wants to stay.

[Allison and Scott still had space in the French Quarter, but she had a feeling where they stayed will be more related too how long this takes. Hayley nods in acknolwedgement.

"Well, once you're done with Freya, the invitation's still open. You're both welcome anytime."]

Good morning. We were just swinging by because ...

["Is it Claire again?" Referring to the nosy neighbor who was dropping in to pry about his surprise husband. "I thought I ..."

David stops as he crosses directly into view. Elena crosses her arms in front of her chest before raising an eyebrow in return.]

Officer Gainor. What a surprise.

[Only, it doesn't really sound like a surprise at all, does it? She turns back to Ezra.]

We need to talk.

Have I really been developing that much of a reputation?

[Stefan, your last murder spree is not that far behind you. You really shouldn't be questioning your reputation at the moment.]

Though I suppose it is well earned.

We can take the bike.

[She thought they might be driving, because it is far enough out of the Quarter that hoofing it isn't really an option, but she can definitely sub a motorcycle into that equation.]

How long have you been riding?

[She holds up her hands and stays where she is, and immediately notices the lack of recognition. While she wouldn't say that she and Elijah were close, his family certainly paid her enough that she would be remembered.]

I won't. But I wouldn't taste very good either.

[The veins darken and ripple under her eyes as her vamp face slides through briefly, showing that she's one of them. Like him.]

[He can do that. He is not in Prague at this very moment, but he could make it there by breakfast time. Driving overnight has it's advantages, including minimal traffic.]

Breakfast tomorrow. Pick a place and when and I'll be there.

( Mystic Falls has met its match with Claire, it seems. Mystic Falls answer to the nosy neighbor trope. She brought my cupcakes the last time and she's convinced she and her husband will do brunch.

Because all gays do brunch.

Again, Ezra doesn't react, looking past the two women when his husband comes into view.

Ezra is impressed, but, he sighs instead, not needing to show her that he appreciates this display of whatever is happening here. Instead, he very politely steps aside. )

Since junior year. I bought it that summer. Well, not that bike, but a bike. I upgraded since high school.

( AKA, be ready to be pretty blown away, Davina Claire. This isn't even his, but they have resources all over and he's better behind handles than a wheel.

He sets the coffee cup back on the counter, not one to leave any trash or uncollected items, he was raised right, before walking her out the back. )

( He drops the limp wrist he'd held in his hand, unable to process discovering someone like him. Slowly, steadily, he rises. His strength sits underneath, a thousand years unused. )
