[Does she know that for sure? Maybe, maybe not. But if necessary, she will reach out and make that connection. It's been years since she's made a deal with Elijah Mikaelson but she hopes that he's still a man of his word.]

( The joke of course being, Elena is talking him down, but no reason to alert his brother to that. He sets his phone down and stands up from the couch, he's out of beer, anyway. )

[Then she puts her phone aside and turns to face Dean more.]

Good, because he's an Original and extremely protective of those that are important to him. He will take your head off, and I happen to like your head where it is.

But, I don't like Bonnie getting all chummy with La Femme Ni-Fuck-Us-Over.

( That is all she did. )

She was desperate once. Struck the same deal I did, 'cept I didn't beat it.

[She nods, because ah. That anger makes a bit more sense.]

And all this time, you thought she at least paid the same price you did. That made things even. At least she was paying for her crimes.

No, I know you don't. Neither do I, but I can't say there weren't moments where I contemplated tearing Katherine's heart out once she was human if it meant she'd face any consequence at all.

[So yes, Elena Gilbert gets it.]

But, I could also recognize when Katherine was useful, and while I didn't trust her as far as I could throw her, I made it work. This might be one of those times you have to make it work.

[And she hopes that's enough for now.]

Will Stefan and Buffy be there, because I would feel better if she had vampire or slayer backup.

( He'd feel best if it was him. He thinks about it, letting it turn over in his mind. )

( He slows his breathing down, tongue in his cheek as he realizes that this is the best he's going to get. He brings his level down to a 6 as his eyes find Elena's again. )
