( Hope failed, tragically, in the romance department when she became so one-minded about Landon. When she realized her girlfriend could have her own life and make her own choices, it was like a different side of Hope was unlocked. The best lesson they ever learned as witches, was that the key to magic can either be good or bad. Yes, there is dark magic, but it is all in how magic is used. And why. They were no long afraid of Darth Josie from coming out, because that is just Josie's darker side. She hopes having a girlfriend with a deep dark side helped Josie. One-track dogged vengeance took up so much of her time. It was Josie who taught her to channel her desires in the best ways.
She didn't see it coming. But, one day, that grade school crush cropped back up. Josie's confidence. Her style. Her caring nature. She couldn't see herself without Josie, now, which only shows how much she still has to learn.
But, she's grown.
Hope takes a step back, still trying to uphold decorum in this landmark. )
Well, then you look really hot in really great lighting. ( She's not doing that. This is all Josie. ) I woke up today and I... couldn't believe we made it. All of us. Here. You and me. We graduated and we're in Prague. Together.
[Having lived in Mystic Falls her whole life, she was pretty sure one of them wasn't going to make it out alive. But they did, in the end, even with Malivore and dark magic and everything in between.
They did it together. She tries not to forget that lesson.]
But I also should have known better, because you and I make an excellent team.
( They did it all together. Hope finally accepted help. She learned how to play well with others. She slips her arms around her waist and rests her ahead atop Josie's shoulder. )
We do. We balance each other out. I pull you out of your shell and you remind me that scowling at everyone will not get me what I want.
You do like your books. And, I thought, we're around such a specific type of problematic history, why not go to a better source. There's a lot less racism in this library. I think. We probably shouldn't count the monastery. I'm making this less romantic.
( But, the hallway is just as beautiful as the library at least, as well as the steps back down. )
( Even with Hope's obsession with getting Landon back, Hope had kept in touch while Josie tried Mystic Falls. Right around the time Hope had to accept some things are out of her control, Josie realized that it's not her magic she should be afraid of, and that it's how her magic was used. Courtship was slow and took most of junior year, especially after the Landon heartbreak. But, Josie wasn't built to literally destroy Hope, so, Josie had the leg up on her competition. Finally, she gave in.
Lizzie called it from the sidelines, but for once she stayed out of it.
It's a short, but scenic walk along the river before they reach the riverside bar she'd made reservations at. )
Mikaelson. Dva.
( She looked up a few words before. Including the number two. A table for two sits over the river as the street lights finally come on, the sun still slowly making its descent. )
[Josie's breath catches when the lights come up, glistening against the glow of the water and she settles back into the seat with a sigh. She still can't believe she's here in a lot of ways, and she worries he's going to wake up to it being some kind of fever dream.]
This really is beautiful. For someone who claims to be new to the romance game, you did an excellent job.
You know, I'm kind of glad we didn't have to? Don't get me wrong, the Malivore monsters were totally our thing and we handled it best we could, but ...
[The hunters and the danger they represented seems above their paygrade. She's glad the adults were willing to step in for this one.]

[But that's a secret that she is keeping very close to the chest, and promises to tell no one.]

( But, not today, not right now. She pulls herself back and grabs Josie's hand to keep walking through the library. )
So. How is it. I know, Monastery, great first date choice, but this one had the attached library.

[She flashes her a smile as she turns to face her more.]
It's probably the prettiest library I've ever seen, which makes it a worthwhile trip.

No, the romance is still there. It's just a more thoughtful kind of romance.
[She digs it.]
But you seemed like you were planning a Day, so I'm guessing the library isn't the only thing on the itinerary?
no subject
( The setting sun feels good on her skin as she leads her girlfriend out. )
Well, not the whole day. Bonnie took up lunch. But, you're right. I do have other things planned. I believe the river is this way.

[Those parts of Hope were always there, she just needed to feel safe enough to show them. But with that being said, she'll follow Hope's lead.]
Lead the way.

Just because I haven't played the game, doesn't mean I haven't been there on the sidelines. Unless your sister dragged me in.
( Metaphorically and literally, Josie. )

Did you go to her for some pointers?
no subject
( She's YOUR sister, Josie. )
no subject
[Though she will give her sister a thank you, later.]
But I infinitely prefer your company in this context.

( Which was the only reason she even got into her room, but, this is back then. Not here and not there.
She smiles, a bottle of wine being bought to them. )
I prefer your company in every context.
( The waitress pours two glasses and takes the wine back with her. She lifts a glass for a toast. )
To the best girlfriend I never knew I could have.

Right back at you.

They should know by now that there are no secrets in Mystic Falls.
[At least, not any that stay hidden for long.]
But let's hope things stay calm until we get back. If things get worse, they might need us.
[Even if the adults would rather not.]
