[Keep it simple, at least for this little adventure. She pushes up on her toes slightly to try and get the lay of the land, but she is short, so he probably stands a better shot of finding the grill than she does (4).]
( His natural (20) has him lightly tug the fabric of her shoulder and guide her around the surprising crowds that have been drawn from Mystic Falls to find several grills. Burger, veggie, salmon, chicken. )
[She'll opt for a veggie burger, since there are options available, along with a side of fries and a drink. Then she'll step aside and give Damon room to order while she waits.]
( Calories aside, a regular burger just tastes better, with the works of course, fries, and a beer as he guides them over to an adjacent picnic table. A quick (17) at his surroundings as he settles down. I'm guessing Cora and Stiles and Scott a few feet away are all apparent. Maybe even the Winchester's? )
[Yep, Cora and Stiles are engrossed in conversation a few tables down, with Scott not far from them on the phone. On the opposite side of the pavilion, Sam is recovering from choking on his churro and Dean is laughing.]
Lydia sits across from him, and picks up one of her fries.]
One event every week of the year. It's that, or skip town, or blow your brains out. Mystic Falls doesn't really do many non-historical field trips. It's all very insular and - well, racist.
Well, we have a mental health facility that would actually qualify as being called an insane asylum. They probably haven't updated their treatment practices to meet twenty-first century standards, period.
[She dusts the salt off her fingers as she speaks.]
And it was built on top of the remains of a Japanese relocation camp from World War II.
I'm sure they do. But given that they also have a ward for crazy supernaturals in the basement, I'm willing to bet that they don't get checked to make sure they're following the rules all that often.
[As she finishes that comment, she picks up her veggie burger, and bites down. Bitter, copper juice floods her mouth, a texture so runny she might have mistaken it for blood. Immediately she recoils reaching for a napkin to spit out the bite, but when she looks at it, nothing outwardly seems wrong. A mash of masticated vegetables, bread and veggie burger patty.
Something nags at the back of her mind, but she tries to shake it off, inspecting her food as she tries to make sense of it.]
[She shakes her head, balling her napkin before placing it in the paper boat with the rest of her burger.]
I think they gave me the wrong order. It doesn't taste right.
[She's sharper with her banshee abilities these days, but sometimes, even she doesn't see the haze coming. She gets to her feet and grabs the remains of her food.]
I'm going to go have them make a new one. I'll be right back.
[There's a small squeeze to his shoulder as she moves past him, and then she disappears into the crowd. And she doesn't come back, nor does she make it to the booth. If he looks, Damon will find the remains of her food in a garbage can nearby.
But he's free to join the thread with Scott and Cora whenever he's ready.]
( While she wanders away, he makes a will save to not bother the Winchesters, or Cora and Stiles. He beats the will save to bother hunters (16), but his (10) as he listens in on Cora and Scott's conversation pushes him up and away from his picnic table. )

Guess there's not much to do in a small town like Mystic Falls.

All small towns have their issues, for better or worse. It's not like Beacon Hills didn't have it's own problems.

Doesn't California have standards for their mental health facilities?
