He had a lot going on. His best friend got turned into a vampire. It's a lot. I would know.

[She gives him a small smile.]

But he's here now, and that's what matters.

[vampasm]

Oh, that kind of a lot.

( Yeah, now he sees it. It's everything Davina, but - again, generous, sweet, and hot. Though she always had hot down when it came to her suitors. )

Well. His best friend's probably got other friends, if not best then there enough to help with anything while you're sweeping Scott off his feet.

[regentem]

He's got Caroline Forbes right there. I'm sure the newbie vamp will be fine.

[She hasn't gotten an update about how hashtag-complicated things have gotten, but maybe they can talk about it on their date. She starts to head to the bathroom when there's a knock at her door.

That's weird. They were supposed to meet at the festival.]

Can you get that? I'm just going to finish getting dressed.

[vampasm]

( With Cami alive, Caroline Forbes hasn't lived quite as much in infamy. All he knows is she works at a school for Klaus' kid. And if she can handle a school and Hope, then she can handle Scott's friend. )

Yeah.

( Josh knows the same thing. And he's not sure if Scott has her address.

He too wants to make a listen check as he reaches the door but he gets an (11) as a honk sounds from outside. )

[regentem]

[Well, he does hear heartbeats. So whatever's on the other side has one. But beyond that he doesn't hear much. Then again, they're not giving much away. Looking through the peephole shows two unfamiliar faces, so it's not Davina's date getting confused about where they were meeting.]

[vampasm]

Uhhh, Davina, are you expecting anyone?

( Like -- technicians or handymen? Josh's hand hesitates on the doorknob, not unlocking her front door. )

[regentem]

No?

[She comes out of her bedroom wearing the dress they picked. Her eyebrows go up, concerned, because no, not today, any day but today, but she's not picking up on the sense of urgency quite yet (9).]

Maybe my landlord texted me?

[As she goes for her phone, the hunters don't pick up on the hushed conversation on the other side (10), so they knock again, this time giving a greeting: "Entergy New Orleans. We're here to check your natural gas connection?"]

[vampasm]

( (20) Fully picking up on the time of day and the tone behind the door, Josh speeds to Davina and whisks her up (16) to bring her back onto her balcony, shutting the doors. He brings a finger to his lips and mouths:

"Not Gas and Electric." )

[regentem]

[This time, Davina picks up on it, and she quickly lifts her hand, spelling the doors to the balcony to give them a little extra time.

Perception check, Josh.]

[vampasm]

( (16) to look around their surroundings. )

[regentem]

[He doesn't see anything at first (18), briefly distracted by the sound of the door of Davina's apartment slamming open from the other side, but he does manage to catch a voice on the comms (15) just before it happens:

"They're rabbiting. Get to the balcony."

Almost as soon as he hears it, light pop! sounds come from the building across the street, two heading for him (2, 4), and one for Davina (13 vs. 19).

Presuming that Josh doesn't blow his dodge rolls, she sees the feathered tranquilizer darts and is therefore able to dodge her own, but in that time the hunters that were at her door are starting to rattle the spelled doors to the balcony.]

[vampasm]

Rabbiting?

( Josh dodges the shots, too, (10 and 7) as the darts shatter the glass of the doors behind them.

He tries to hold onto Davina (12) and (10) and run them off the balcony to save her (and him). I hope the dice are regretful. )

[regentem]

[Look, the sniper doesn't know you can hear them yet. But he does watch as Josh pulls Davina close and tries his best to take a shot at Josh before they drop to the ground and he has to adjust his perch (2). He then adjusts to aim for Davina (7 vs. 6) and it grazes her arm just enough do what it needs to do, the tranquillizer flooding her blood stream.

Davina feels woozy, and barely manages to keep hold of Josh, starting to go limp in his arms (10). However, while she tries to stick out her hand and use her magic to slow their fall, they find that the connection's severed. As she tries to draw on her power, she can't focus enough to get it to bend to her command.

As fast as Josh is as a vampire, the sniper manages to recover quickly enough to get in one last shot, a vervain dart directly to the jugular (20 vs. 3). The two drop to the ground hard.

Fortunately for them, Davina only lives on the second floor. Josh lands first, his durable vampire body cushioning some of the fall, but Davina is going to feel it when she wakes up as well.

"Round 'em up quick, before anyone sees them," Josh manages to hear as he falls into a vervain induced slumber. "And let the boss know we got both. We can move in to phase two."

But after that, everything succumbs into darkness.]
