[It's a good speech. It definitely has some of them thinking, and she can see the conflict on their faces. But at the same time, there are hunters in the squad who are twice her age and don't believe that they need to be trained - or re-trained for that matter. They are set in what they believe their world to be.
But some of them are considering, and one of them is the leader she's engaging (14).
"You're siding with the Mikaelsons. You get that right?"]
I'm siding with not killing innocent people because they weren't born like you. Monroe engaged the Mikaelson's. I reached out to every faction in New Orleans. Freya Mikaelson has an ear with the witches. And while I don't stand for most of the Mikaelson's legacy, I've seen firsthand what happens when something good results.
( She addresses the leader, mostly, as she is making the most headway with him, but generally, she asks the crowd. )
Have the Mikaelson's come after any of you personally? Statistically, maybe two or three of you if you're local. If you were brought in from out-of-town, then less. Or none?
["That's not how this works!" Someone else shouts from the back of the crowd. She can't really see the face, but it's clear they're offended by her words. "When monsters kill people, you come and take care of it. You don't let them get away with it just because it didn't happen to you."]
It's not letting them get away with it if they're just as likely to kill me, too. What good can I do, dead? And you don't think I have people, people I trust, people who want to do the good I do ready to if it comes to that. What do you call what you're doing? What makes you not the monsters? I ask because I've been the monster.
( And what she intimates is that Monroe, too, for too long as been the monster. )
["We're human." The stern voice steps through the crowd, determination in his step (18). He doesn't seem cowed by her words, and his assurance is reflected in some of the eyes around him. "That's what makes us not the monster. We're doing what we have to do to protect the rest of us. And if you're not with us, you might as well be one of them."
And before anyone else can react, he raises his gun and shoots at Allison. Fortunately he rolls not great (8).]
( Unfortunately, Allison is shot (1) and it's bad and she didn't come in wearing any body armor. Easy call that she will need to be hospitalized, or she'll need a vampire intervention. )
[Malia snarls as Allison falls, and gun fire erupts around them. The scent of blood and gunpowder fills the air as wolves and hunters clash over what was once a peaceful bit of land out of the way from New Orleans.
Malia manages to drop down next to her when the gunshots stop, playing dead for the purposes of survival. Her hand reaches out to take Allison's as the boots continue to stomp, and soon the smell of smoke fills the air.
The hunters leave as the bayou burns around them. And that's the last thing Allison sees before her wound pulls at the edges of her consciousness and pulls her under.]
