[Davina gets thrown back against the wall with a groan - it's been a while since she's felt that kind of backlash from a spell. She blinks as the dots begin to clear and when she sees Freya collapsed in next to everyone else, she scrambles forward.]

Shit.

[tuumest]

( Late, literally with Starbucks and a bag of pastries, in strolls H, the key card electronically sounding as he lets himself into the room. He stops, surveys the scene, takes a full ninety degree turn to face Davina.

"It kept her, didn't it?" )

[regentem]

[Davina blinks at the question, trying to figure out which her he means while also righting herself from the blowback.]

Kieran or Freya?

[tuumest]

( "Freya. Your plan was to send in Kol and Kieran, right? Not. Freya."

He sets the pastry delights on the table. )

[regentem]

Yeah. There was some kind of backlash. Threw me into the wall.

[She goes over and checks Freya's vitals, just to be on the safe side.]

Heart's still beating, so I'm guessing she got sucked in too.

[tuumest]

( "Well, there are things we could try. It's magic sealing them inside there, magic that was shared with no place to go. Theoretically..." He starts, trying to jumpstart any ideas she might be having. )

[regentem]

If we pop it like a magical balloon, what'll that do to Julian?

[Because if this is the backlash they get trying to sneak in the door, what would that rush of magic leaving do to Kieran's brother?]

[tuumest]

( "Admittedly, everything is dangerous. Your best bet is to put the magic somewhere. You don't want it eeking out - who knows what that will do, but you could transfer it. Or, transplant. Transfuse?" )

[regentem]

[Transfuse? Transfuse into what? It's not as though they have anything that could appropriately act as a magical vessel. If they were outside maybe she could send it down into the ground but ...

... As Scott comes out the door, she spots a potted plant on one of the decorative tables.]

Scott, bring me that plant.

[tuumest]

( It's hard to not be obvious about what he really wants and how to get her there. He has all the time in the world having been broken of his word, so he steps aside as Scott does what Davina asks, confused but ready to play along.

He pauses once he comes into the room.

H just watches, curious. )

[regentem]

[She hasn't done this kind of representational magic in a while. But it's one of those spells that she learned how to do early. Use the earth to ground the magic, give it a place to go, like a lightning rod does for a lightning strike.

She closes her eyes, focuses and starts to chant, attempting to channel some of the magic from one thing to another (5), but she is one witch and the original caster is a bit out of her league.]

[illtempered]

( It works twofold, energy can't be transferred that has been given a specific purpose and no, it's not energy Davina personally worked with.

"What's supposed to happen?" Scott asks.

Jackson did not hear what was going on, having headphones in as he worked out in the tiny gym a few rooms down, but he too passes and stops in the open doorway, taking out an earbud. )

Did I miss the morning magic round-up?

[regentem]

[Davina swears before putting down the plant. She gestures to the blond lying out unconscious that Jackson wouldn't know.]

Freya Mikaelson, Kol's sister. We were trying to feed Kol and Kieran into the chambre de chasse that Barnet was using to hold her brother hostage, but Freya got sucked in too and I can't seem to channel for shit today.

[She's frustrated. Not being able to do what she needs to do is frustrating. But she takes a deep breath and rolls her shoulders back.]

I was trying to channel off some of the magic into the plant, but it doesn't seem to be working.

[tuumest]

( H raises a hand, congenial, contributing. Not shady at all. )

Use me?

[regentem]

[Davina glances over at him, raising an eyebrow as she looks him over (15). Any other innocent witch, and they might have accepted his help without a second thought. But given that Davina is a French Quarter witch, who spent most of her teenage years being used by adults and immortals to their own ends, she wants to gain a sense of what he's after.]

You?

[tuumest]

( Well, he gives a nat (20) to give off the innocence he'd want to to this move. )

Barnet binded me. Binding me used magic he tapped into. My magic. Logic possesses that I could take it back, at least my part. Taking even a piece, that may unlock what you need to bring him out.

[regentem]

[She's reluctant, but she doesn't have any reason not to trust him, unfortunately. He seems like he's trying to help, so she might as well let him help. She holds out her hand for his, and nods.]

Okay. Let's try again.

[tuumest]

Okay.

( He sets his hand in hers.

Neither Scott (6) nor Jackson (10) have any reason to suspect anything either, other than knowing this guy was behind enemy lines.

Roll twice Davina, once for a transfer and once for a will save. )

[regentem]

[The magic is old and ancient, not one that Davina is familiar with, so it makes sense why she couldn't channel it. But as she continues to try and transfer it from one place to another, she feels something else starting to slip.

Her own magic.

Her eyes fling open as she tries to scramble and pull back, but H is stronger than she is, even with a Harvest Girl's strength. She tries to pull her hands back but the spell's already started, and she can't do anything but keep losing.]

[tuumest]

( (4) Scott and (8) Jackson are not onto H - though it's easy to recognize Davina is in trouble. But H is two power mad (2) to hide what he's doing, his hunger evident.

Davina try once more, one last save and then the boys will step in. )

[regentem]

[Seeing his evident hunger, his want for things that aren't his only makes her angry (17). It manages to retune her focus, moving from channeling magic from Julian into reclaiming hers from H.]

How dare you.

[She is the regent of the French Quarter witches. She is the last standing Harvest Girl and who helped break their ancestral bonds. You don't fuck with Davina Claire and mock her for her weakness. And if the 17 is enough to resist his pull, she's going to try and turn it back on him (15).]

You picked the wrong witch to try and steal from.

[tuumest]

( "Steal?" Scott says, understanding the situation, deciding to intervene.

H's (7) reminds him he wasn't ready to take on the regent of the French Quarter witches, that he should've kept with the magic he'd imbued - but, pride goeth and all that.

Davina knows if Scott breaks the bond now, there will be an imbalance - so, if she yells out to him Scott will need a reflex check. )

[regentem]

[She senses Scott coming closer, and she shakes her head.]

No, it's okay. I've got this.

[Scott manages to stop just short, his hand on her arm, and with his true alpha power flowing into the connection, it only adds to her fire. Wind whips and the lightbulbs burst as she proceeds to draw out every drop she can, moving her hand from Julian's body, and actually managing to transfer it to the plant this time (20), distributing whatever of his magic she can get.

And once that's done, she'll release him and take the plant gently in her hands.]

You know the funny thing about putting magic in another living thing, is that it goes away once you kill it.

[That is very much a threat.]

[tuumest]

( For the record, Julian can. But on record, just because she's pissed, doesn't mean he won't go for broke again. He knows he shouldn't. He knows this attempt failed. Or has failed. He knows nothing. He is John Snow.

As is H, who feels his own power slipping from him, power he'd accumulated over decades in a common motel plant. He yanks his hands away, abhorred that someone would to do him that he was trying to do to them. Apparently, he didn't learn anything from the puritanical Baron 'Do unto others.'

Almost immediately, the MIA Freya, Julian, and Kol all wake up, the magic having been successfully siphoned.

This is usually the time where H would invisique but - yeah. Jackson shuts the room's door, shoves up a chair and Scott slams H into it. )

[deathlessness]

[Freya wakes up smoothly, as though coming out of a good night's rest. She raises an eyebrow at the witch pinned to the door, and Davina holding a hotel potted plant as though it's something valuable.]

Seems like we missed quite the adventure.

["Our friend H here thought he could try and steal my magic. He was wrong."

Freya smirks.]

Ahh, so it was that kind of fun.
