[This is likely not the first time she encountered wild magic. She's old enough there's not much of anything she's managed to avoid, and there are a lot of ambitious witches that attempt ambitious spells.
This is her first time experiencing it as a human witch, however, so she can't help but be a smidge concerned. She holds out her hands out at her side and waits to see what happens, and when it stretches into nothing ...]
Well, at least no one's turned into a potted plant this time.
( He takes another second, deciding to let off a quick spell, except it's seconds later when a mystical red light forms and stretches in an infinite number of directions like the strings of fate and then dissipate. )
I didn't even -- incant. ( He blinks. ) So, magic's everywhere. I can't trace it because it's everywhere.
That makes sense. Whatever was 'fucked up' as you so eloquently put it, probably released a torrent of magic. In order to fix the problem, we have to put it all back.
[But given that they don't know what the problem was ...]

If I can cast in the blink of a thought, we don't know what we or anyone else is capable of. As humorous as unwanted transmogrification can be, magic has kneecapped whole cities. Do you feel anything?
[Who said anything about ruffling? Commenting on eloquence does not mean anything against him. She also is trying to master Gen Z slang, a little foul language isn't going to rattle her.
But as she tries to reach out with her witchy senses, she's not sure what to make sense of it (17). But there is something there.]
Maybe? Despite being a thousand years-old, I'm still new at applying these things in practice.

Right outside a suburb of Chicago. What about your family? Reports are conflicted. Some say you're from Viking country, others say Mystic Falls, and then others say New Orleans. But, New Orleans and Mystic Falls weren't places when you and your siblings were -- when you became immortal.

Technically I was born in what is now Mystic Falls, but it wasn't then. Freya and my brothers Finn and Elijah were born in Norway, though, and as a family we did live in New Orleans for some time.
Some of it was tedious, but most of it I didn't mind.

Don't get me wrong, I still appreciate the airplane, especially for overseas travel. But when we were moving from place to place within the same continent, it was nice to see the land. Take everything in. At least until one of us picked a fight with the other and being in close quarters lost it's charm.
I wanted to have a family. I wanted to be with someone and grow old with them instead of waiting for the day where they either decide to be turned, or leave because I'm not aging with them. And I've been alive for a thousand years. I was ready to be done.
[Fortunately, Elena Gilbert was happy to oblige her by passing off the cure.]
