[Melanie shakes her head, eyes dancing lightly from face to face. The vampires are gathered in clusters like they're in a club, idly chatting and socializing like there isn't a war happening over their heads. Melanie can understand that much - this isn't her first war, after all - but it's still a bit surreal.
What really surprises her though, are the humans. They wander from table to table, waiting for a vampire to beckon them over before offering a wrist for them to sink their teeth into. None of them seem afraid either. In fact, they're almost accepting of their situation.]

In the meantime, however, as much as Damon is taking notice of the rest of the room, the room is also taking notice of him. A redheaded vampire looking slightly bored nudges her conversation partner and points in his direction.]

It's not a feeling that she always comes by easily after all this time, but she tries to ride the wave when she gets it. Taking her glass of wine, she gets up and winds her way over to where Damon is standing.]

[Her tone indicates that that's a thing worth knowing.]

I never saw a welcome mat. Organizations like these, I thought they'd greet me at the door. Wine me, ( he raises his glass, before indicating the others ) dine me, and then that's when they make their offer. Is there a special place for the prospective individuals, perhaps they're corralled with other newcomers.
