( He is the trouble. He's never been the fun one. He's never had the luxury. He lost that innocence early on and he stepped up as the older brother when he had no other choice. That's what he drags around behind him.
His sister gets to be fiery and vulgar and crass and, yes, fun, when she wants to be. He lost that part of himself. )
I'm concerned about my friend who is having a rough time and might not be taking care of himself.
[Crash may come off like a flake sometimes, but they pay attention. And they actually do like Julian. He seems like he's having a hard time, and they want to help.]
I tend to follow my whimsy. See what feels good in the moment. Like right about now, my whimsy is thinking that I should reclaim the beer Wynonna's sister said she was buying and see if I am any good at swing dancing.
[They won't be. Their musical talents lean more on the instrumental side.]
( It takes no effort to push his feet forward, accepting the hand physically and emotionally. For now anyway. It's better than dwelling on everything he usually does. He's taking a page out of Crash's book and seeing where it gets him - and maybe Crash. )
[And with that, they're off, briefly making their way over to the bar to recover Crash's beer and say hi to the girls, before heading back off to the dance floor. Crash watches the other dancers over their shoulders.]
And fancy footwork. Not exactly my style. But, when in Rome?
( And for all his efforts, he... botches his attempt at dancing completely with a natural (1) and stumbles into a few athletic, and now perturbed couples, one of witch accidentally kicks him, before he steps on someone else's foot. )
( From a (1) to a ... (natural 20?) Maybe it's the music. Maybe it's the intrigue. Maybe it's the moment. Something clicks as he takes Crash's hand and starts leading them. Well. )
[Their face brightens in delight when Julian starts taking the lead, doing their best to try and keep up (13). It's passable, but they're not leading so it's all good.]
( He used to dance when he was younger, something he stopped when their mother walked out, but it's been years. Apparently, it is just like riding a bike.
He lets loose, smile at 100 watts, slowing down to match Crash, spinning them both around and keeping close. He hasn't let himself be this close in ages. In years. In the spirit of the night, and in Crash's spirit he'd like to think, he throws caution to the wind when he spins Crash back to him.
He feels something. And so he does something.
He gives himself over to the moment and locks lips with Crash. Emotions have to come out somehow and in this case, they SPILL over. )
... Well, they did tell him to follow his whimsy. If his whimsy happens to lead him to kissing Crash, who is Crash to complain? It's not like Julian isn't hot either, so Crash is very willing to go with it.
He's also a good kisser.
Honestly this is coming out for Crash as a win thus far. They will have to discuss this turn of events with Aalis later.]
( Oh, this is one of those defining kisses. He loses himself in it and melts against the other person. He never lets himself turn his brain off, so he gives himself permission. What music? What other guests? Coworkers are all around, technically, and still, he persists. )
[Persisting is fine as far as Crash is concerned. They'll even take another step closer, allowing for a little more physical contact as they prepare to enjoy the moment. Whatever comes of this afterwards is a problem for future Crash to figure out, but for now, they intend to stay in the moment for as long as possible.
... Which is really going to amount until one of the dancers doesn't realize that the couple is standing still and kick ball changes their way right into Crash's back, sending them stumbling forward and jarring the kiss just slightly.]
( Julian attempts to brace the two of them as he loses his footing and balance, but he gets a (1) and takes Crash with him sailing to the ground at another couple's feet.
"Get a room!" the pinwheel haired girl half of the kicking couple says.
Another couple stumbles over them and loses their footing (3) and soon there is just a pile of bodies and limbs.
[Well. That's not how they wanted things to end. But before they can comment on it otherwise, one of bodies elbows them in the ribs and he groans instead.]
Medic.
[The weak joke is about all they get as they fight the urge to shapeshift into a smaller form so they can wriggle out from under the pile of bodies.]
( Enough people fall that the music even stops, with the bandleader taking the mic. He wants people to be careful and to not be hurt. The music pauses for long enough to people get their bearings and get back to their feet. The bandleader also throws an offhanded joke about being like normal people and making out in the bathroom.
Mortified, Julian helps Crash up carefully, trying not to elbow them or hurt them further. Julian walks the both of them off the dance floor, toward the bar. )
Do you really need a medic?
( He assesses, hands on each of their shoulders.
Slowly, the music kicks back in again, but people don't go right back on the dance floor. Some leave to get their coats from the coat check. )
( His hands move to Crash's face, acting more tenderly out of his concern and the vibe from before. )
I haven't kissed anyone and completely stopped a party before.
( He's usually a more together, more private... person.
Or a guy, he keeps back, because he knows Crash is a shapeshifter, and currently in the form of an admittedly handsome man. But, it's not really a hangup. He didn't know it wouldn't be, but he's spent years focusing on his sister's death clock, not his own. )

She has her good and she has her bad days.
( And today is not her best. He holds up the spoils. )
Have ticket will travel. Secondhand costume. I think I'm supposed to have fun?
no subject
[They shift to lean casually against the wall, studying their friend curiously.]
Are you having trouble with that part?
[No judgement, just curiosity.]

( He is the trouble. He's never been the fun one. He's never had the luxury. He lost that innocence early on and he stepped up as the older brother when he had no other choice. That's what he drags around behind him.

Crash. It's okay. I know I'm not fun.
no subject
[Again, no judgement. He's going through some tough shit. Crash wouldn't feel like having fun either if their hypothetical sister was dying.]
Let me clarify the question: are you having trouble finding enjoyment in things that you think are fun?
no subject
( Yes, all the time. He always has. He is business oriented. He's a a studier of magic. A world traveler with one goal. He's dry. He knows he's dry. )

( He raises his hands, palms outward. )
Party. ( God, he's not this bad, is he? ) What about you? Are you finding the fun? Got... any pointers?

( And would he prefer either?
How do they do it, take everything with whimsy. )
no subject
[Crash gives a small shrug as they turn to head back to the bar.]
What kind is up to you and your whimsy.
[He's extending a hand. It's up to Julian if he wants to take it.]

Sorry, sorry!

They hold out a hand to Julian once he's steadied, and nods.]
Let's try again?
[And they'll start again with trying to mimic the moves, and while they're better, they're not amazing (10).]

See? I knew you would catch on.

Nope. That was a joke to break the tension.
[With the people around them, not between Julian and Crash necessarily.]
Do you?
