Sam always had a good head on his shoulders, he just kept it ducked down.
( He peers over at the brothers by the coffee machine as he speaks. )
I'm more stuck on Dean Winchester. ( he watches them. ) I can't shake the feeling if she didn't get mixed up with him, we wouldn't be here and I don't know how I feel about that.
( granted, he doesn't know how he feels about any of this. he looks back down at his wife, and then at the candy on the right. he holds up a gummy bear bag? )
[She glances out the window to where Elena is on the phone - she assumes with Jeremy, maybe John or Jenna. People who would need to know that they're back on some level. Then again, it's been twenty years. It's hard to know where any of the people they used to know stand.]
I wonder what brought her so far from Mystic Falls.
( he knows his daughter. he saw her with Matt. he saw her with Dean. he's not calling a spade a spade, but he thinks he knows what brought her away if she ... isn't there anymore. )
Just because she was with them, that doesn't mean she...
( he stops himself, but he doesn't know the answer. )
I know we couldn't keep the Founder's Council from her forever, but the last thing I wanted was for her to end up in John Winchester's path.
( he never liked him. )
Why do you think he's not here? The boys are grown, they can hunt on their own now?
( in their forties? is he even alive? )
Every answer I come up with leads to more questions. But, I know she's been in this. She's not okay - having us back - but -- she's used to that caliber of the supernatural. I see it in her eyes.
[Miranda skips the questions she doesn't have the answers to - she has a feeling they're more rhetorical, just trying to process the new world they've found themselves in. Miranda also wasn't fond of John Winchester - as effective as he was at his job, she certainly found him lacking as a father.
Not that she really could judge.
However that last statement, doesn't have her thinking of John. Instead, she's thinking of Abby Bennett, and how a man named Mikael came to town, searching for her three year-old daughter, and how Miranda turned to her best friend for help and it cost her everything.
The supernatural was always coming for Elena.]
I don't think she was ever really going to be able to avoid it.
( He thinks back to when Elena was a little girl and wandered down to the basement of his practice. They both have lived different sides of the same coin with their daughter, though he does remember what happened to Abby as well. And why Bonnie lost touch with her mother. )
[Which means these questions are probably going to be answered on Elena's timetable, not theirs. She just hopes that she gets to see her son sometime in the interim.]

Dean says candy's road trip gospel.
( seems as good a candy as any? )

You don't think our deaths jumpstarted that?
