Oh yeah, that is classic Lizzie. But, I hope she'd give you enough of a heads up.
( Buffy looks around, sees that a lot has been eaten so far. )
Do you mind giving me a hand with the desserts? We have a few trays in the oven and I only have these two arms. They can slay, but they can't carry four trays of brownies.
We'll be in and out quickly. And the spoils are worth it.
( He steps down into the wine cellar itself, about to grab a box, but he gets distracted and nosy, looking at the singular bottles. How good's their collection down here?
The fortunate thing for Damon and Wes is that they're deep in the bowels of the castle, and the bomber, with the levels of access they have, is working more in the middle. The Castle, designed to withstand sieges and catapults, was designed to have the wine cellar and crypts function essentially as a bomb shelter, so while they hear the noise, and are tossed around by the shaking of the building coming down above them, physically, they're mostly safe.
They may, unfortunately, be a little stuck.
But they don't know that just yet. Wes, staring at the ceiling above them, can feel himself going on high alert.]
( Damon admires one of the bottles and then the world comes down around them. Well, on top of them. Or - he braces himself on the wine rack as the shaking and rattling subsides.
He narrows his eyes and peers upward, a sinking feeling in his stomach. )
I'd say earthquake, but this is Scotland and that was all above us.
( he slides the bottle back where he found it and takes a few steps, keeping his gaze upward, listening. )
[Wes pauses, closing his eyes as he tries to listen intently, see if he can pick up anything out of the ordinary. He can hear some things shifting above them, he can hear shifting rubble, perhaps, he can hear ...
Pain. Someone - a lot of someones - above them is in pain.
He moves back towards the door to the cellar, but as he pulls it open, rubble moves to fill the space. Smaller pieces of debris fall to the floor in front of him, while larger pieces cross the door and block their path upwards.]
( Damon hears the same thing (15), albeit maybe not being able to identify who's in pain, or who's nearest, thanks to the reinforced wine cellar.
rubble rolls down the stairs and Damon peers around them, perhaps for another - back entrance. or something leading to another tunnel.
He barely believes calling his brother will do something, especially down here, but as he looks, he doesn dial his number. (12) for investigation while he probably gets his brother's voicemail. )
[Stefan's phone rings ... and rings ... and rings ... and rings some more until finally Damon hears the familiar:
"You've reached Stefan. Please leave a message."
But while he's dealing with all that ringing, he doesn't find a secret door, but he finds plenty of hints that this room wasn't always built to be completely closed in. Studying the structure of the ceiling it definitely seems like the room is supposed to continue.
It's simply a matter of finding the secret exit.
He did not roll high enough to find the secret exit.
Wes eventually turns his attention back to Damon.]
Scarlett says that she and Bonnie are safe outside. But there was some kind of explosion and most of the castle has collapsed. Did you get Stefan?
I got Stefan's voicemail, which, usually, is my favorite version of my brother.
( His voicemail can't yell at him. Can't glare at him. Doesn't just tolerate him. It listens! )
From what I can tell down the room should go on further, but it just doesn't. So we're missing something. ( A tired, slow turn of the head. ) And stuck. For the time being.
( Going over to a intact wine fridge, he slips the bottle he's been admiring out, the door closing behind it. Yes, there's danger. They're trapped. He wants to drink. Just for a second. Give him a second.
He twists the ends of the metal cage to free it, removing it and the foil. )
The trick to opening a bottle of champagne, is to twist the bottle - but not the cork. And if you do it just right -- ( the familiar pop doesn't sound, but a small sizzle as it comes loose and the cork is freed. ) no one loses an eye.
( He takes a gulp, readying himself for the great search ahead, looks over at his companion - also stuck - and clears the distance between them, holding it out. )
[You know what, Wes will take the bottle from him and takes a swig, letting the bubbles slide over his tongue. They could be in worse scenarios, and it's not like they're going to get wasted on champagne.]
Thanks for the tip.
[Though at the same time...]
Worse places to be stuck than a room full of booze, I suppose.
And we can move all of our appendages. It's a party.
( Of two. )
Beats desiccating in Brooklyn. You ever... ( he gestures, hand gesticulating. ) You think it won't hurt. Like you just go to sleep. But, it is worse than drowning. It is the embodiment of starving to death. And no amount of self-righteous, I'm doing this for the girl I love makes it feel better. And, extra guilt points for the letter you leave you best friend and the scathing take on our friendship when she beats time and space to give me a proper tongue lashing right before.
Buffy and Danny, by virtue of being near the stove, are in one of the worst spaces for them to be. When the bomb explodes out below and hits the gas mains, the explosion increases tenfold and the kitchen is wrapped in a fireball before the floor gives out beneath them.
Danny's magic, however, is not ready to be done with him yet. It just got him to get with the program, they're not breaking in a new coven head by the winter solstice.
A green tinged wall expands out from around him, pushing the fire back and while Danny isn't sure how he's doing this, he can react enough to grab Buffy's arm, and pull her into the protected area. But then they're falling and while the ball will keep them from outright dying, it doesn't slow them, and there's a small bounce as they reach the bottom, and everything goes black as rubble comes down on top of them.
Danny blinks as he starts to come too, and everything hurts, but his hand reaches out, trying to see if the body who fell with him is still next to him.]
( She feels extreme heat - and then nothing as the world gives out around them and it feels like darkness takes over. They hit the ground hard, but they're not dropped too low, maybe, two levels? She's fallen before, from extreme heights. This ended too quickly and ended in a blackout.
Bad news for Buffy, the explosion takes the entire kitchen and what's above, part of the castle fully falling in on itself and onto the two of them. When she comes to, she can't breathe. Not easily. Her mouth is dry.
Blinking her eyes open, the heat from the stovetop barely illuminates Danny next to her. The oven is scorched, but in one piece, and when Buffy tries to turn, or pull herself up, she can't. She tries again, but something - that's something on her back. She assesses. Not in. On. She's trapped. But, Danny's here. Not trapped? )
Danny. ( She tenses, trying to use her voice. It comes out raspy. Weak. ) Danny, are you okay?
Well, he can, but not enough of her to tell if she's alright. He can see part of her face and maybe a hand but the rest of it is rubble. He pushes up, still sore, but clearly in a better situation than she is.]
Shit, shit - I'm okay. Don't worry about me.
[Okay, Danny. Time to assess. Buffy being buried is a big problem, but the fire is a bigger problem and he doesn't think water is going to help for a stove. He needs to try something else.]
Let ... just let me deal with the fire, okay? I'll be right back.
( She may be pinned, but she's worried. She does think back, though. )
You shielded us - from the explosion. ( Even though the stove is now on fire, she doesn't feel like she has burns all over her body. Maybe just her forearms? Or, that's just the feeling on them being under unsanded stone. ) I'll be here.
[Danny pauses, drawing some of the magic back into himself, his eyes glowing green as he turns his focus on the flaming stove. His eyes glow green briefly as he raises his hands, swirling the magic in front of them and for a brief moment, the oxygen is drawn out of the room (19). It quickly smothers the fire, and once it's out, he reverses it.
As the ability to breathe returns to the small space, he moves back to Buffy, reaching for the nearest piece of rubble to begin to pull it off her.]
The magic did. I guess it's not looking to find another replacement. I'm glad it included you too.
( Buffy can breathe on very little breath, not that she's really a swimmer. But, once breath returns to her, so does her voice. She winces, a little trapped, still. )
Remind me to buy it some flowers or - whatever you do to thank a magical birthright. A little help here?
[He moves over, very carefully removing the largest piece of rubble pinning her down and pushing it to the side. The summer of heavy lifting and manual labor at the magic shop clearly didn't go to waste.
He crouches down next to her.]
Don't move yet. Can you feel everything? Can you wiggle your toes?

Damon, Westley. Can you guys grab a few more cases?
