I don't know. There are probably vampires there, but not inside. But, I like the idea of there being less vampires for them to deal with. Let's see what we can do out here. You knew Randall. Chances are, you'll see another familiar face.
( And maybe more answers will come. And as they start a trek along the tree-line to get a better vantage point and catch anyone else off guard... )
Adopted. He came to us fully grown so I had no hand in raising him in his human life, but over time he's become ours in every way that matters.
[And after the Butlers' run with children, she can't say how she would feel if she hadn't heard his voice on the other end of the line. Now is not the time for her to start disassociating in grief.
Never mind that she has no word of Melly or Rhett.]
The Ivory Tower was actually how we met. The Tower ... favors discretion but also the old ways. They hire people - usually those with no other resource - to be dined on for the evenings of their salons. Wes was one of them.
That's - ( capitalism. gruesome. Actually, hired? Or, they say they hire but what they really mean is, do our bidding, be our blood bags? Something tells me 'the old ways' didn't come with insurance and a 401k.
Actually hired. Paid them quite well, if I remember. And most of the people they were getting didn't really care so much about the benefits. They just wanted the cash.
[Cash is still king after all.
As they make their way through, Bonnie picks up the sound of scuffling nearby. Scarlett picks up on it as well (17), head snapping to the side and reaching out - but dragging over something much warmer than expected.
Clara glances between them, eyes wide. "Bonnie? Is this a good vamp or bad vamp?"]
Apologies, I was not aware that vampires existed in the Wizard of Oz dichotomy.
( And maybe opportunistic, but putting a price on that. They weren't going to get aspiring people. People with futures. They were going to be people who had no other choice. Runaways.
A familiar face! )
This is Scarlett. She's a Glinda. ( Of course, Scarlett. There are good and bad vampires. ) And an old friend of Stefan's. Are you two okay?
[Scarlett releases the young Slayer as she relaxes and Lee catches up with them. "We just got off the phone with Mia, in Star City. She's going to coordinate with the other cells to make sure that no one else was attacked and that they're on guard. Stefan and Faith went that way - " She turns back and points. " - back into the castle. Stefan said he heard Dawn."
"There are vampires around. A group of them attacked us after everything went boom."
Scarlett nods.]
Yes, we ran into some of those as well. Does this Mia mean anything to you?
[All she knows about Mia is that's the name of Wes's boyfriend's roommate.]
["Faith told us to get out of here, but ... can we stick with you guys?" Lee hesitates to ask, but she and Clara are both fairly new to the Slayer gig, so sticking with the vampire and the powerful witch seems like the best play. "Just in case more vampires show up?"
Scarlett raises an eyebrow back at Bonnie. She's much more of a mother hen than Scarlett will ever be, but she's willing to keep the Slayers with them if they pull their weight.]
Scarlett nods, moving ahead of the girls and further into the trees. She doesn't intend to go far - one ear is trained on the castle to make sure that if Stefan or Faith give a sign of trouble they can swoop back in.
[Scarlett is also staying sharp (15), and so does Clara (14), but Lee is busy managing the Slayer group chat as people are texting in for updates and has her eyes down (9).
It's really rather fortunate that Bonnie is paying attention when a vampire's hand reaches out to snatch her (8 vs. 3), and she starts to get dragged into the shadows with a scream.
( Bonnie looks back, the scream taking her out of paying very close attention in the opposite direction. )
Lee!
( She doesn't know if she can, but, something grabbed her and maybe that something wants an aneurysm (16) as she hopefully tries to take down a vampire and not popping brain blood vessels in a human... )
[The vampire screams (1), letting Lee go, but it summons the rest of her vampire team. Two more scramble into frame and the one that seems like the leader eyes the vampire at the head of the group with a sneer.
"Scarlett."]
Belinda. What a delightful surprise.
[Her tone says it's not delightful. Belinda ignores her, tipping her hand towards One and Two. "Kill them all. We want no survivors."]
Belinda rolls her eyes. "Oh, darling. We aren't friends." And with that she reaches forward to go for Scarlett's throat (11 vs. 12), but Scarlett just dodges out of the way and bears her fangs.
One goes for Clara, swiping at the slayer (1 vs. 2), and the girl just dances out of the way. Headached lunges for Bonnie (16) to try and get some payback for the brain exploding. And Two goes for Lee (15 vs. 13) and throws her into a nearby tree.]
[Headached tries to get away but let's out a whine at the collision (12).
Clara reaches for a branch, snapping it off to make use for it as a stake. She swings in towards One (6 vs. 11) but One dances out of the way. Lee scrambles up from the ground, kicking Two in the gut (3 vs. 2) and sending the vampire stumbling backwards.
Scarlett charges at Belinda, grabbing her by the arm and twisting it behind her back (19 vs. 1). She kicks at the back of her knees, sending her to the ground as she does.]
You never did know how to respect your elders.
[Belinda bears her fangs with rage, trying to break herself free (5 vs. 14). She slams her head backwards to try and shake Scarlett off, but Scarlett is faster.
Headached tries to recover, reaching for Bonnie again (7), but still off his game. One dives for Clara to try and wrench the stake from her hands (19 vs. 3), wrenching her wrist before tassing it to the side. Two goes for Lee again (5 vs. 20), but Lee zips up fast, snapping Two's neck and dropping him to the ground.]
[Headached stumbles backwards, trying to get the dirt out of his eyes (9).
Lee grabs a stake and takes Bonnie's lay up, jabbing it into Headache's back (4 vs. 12), but the vampire catches on and stumbles to the side. Clara swings another punch at One (8 vs. 20) and the vampire dodges before shoving a hand into the girl's stomach.
Scarlett hears the girl's cry of pain and grits her teeth, trying to contend with Belinda by depriving her of her own heart (12 vs. 15), but Belinda takes the advantage and dips out of the way.
Belinda tries to break free of Scarlett's grip (15 vs. 19), but Scarlett holds her firm. Headached is now contending with two, but as Lee tries to dart away to help her friend, he snatches at her hair (4 vs. 7) and she slips through his fingers.
"Clara!" she screams, running towards her.
One just grins at the helpless girl. "Whoops. Looks like I came in a little low. Let's find that heart, shall we?" He twists his hand around and Clara gives a small cry of pain as he finds it (14 vs. 10).
He's not paying attention to something else moving in the trees nearby.]
[One is so focused on tormenting the baby slayer, that he's not prepared when the spell bursts across his brain (2). He withdraws his hand - thankfully without her heart - and drops her to the ground as his hands go to his head.
Clara drops with a gaping chest wound, and there isn't a lot of time. Which is probably why it's fortunate that the cavalry bursts from the trees, heading towards Scarlett and Belinda. Isaac takes over holding Belinda in place (9 vs. 3), before nodding to the vampire.]
Go. Help her.
[Lee charges to try and stake One while he's distracted (18 vs. 1). She channels her rage into the blow and manages to strike home, leaving him desiccating on the ground, then dropping down next to her friend to try and staunch the wound.
"Please, please don't die."
"I won't make any promises, but this should help." Scarlett bites into her wrist before sticking it into Clara's mouth, forcing her to drink.
Belinda tries to break free of Isaac's grip (13 vs. 16), but the werewolf continues to hold her firmly in place. Headache glances between the options, Scarlett standing over the injured girl, the werewolf holding Belinda, and the witch next to him, and weighs his options.
He decides time to cut their losses and run, beginning to charge off towards Belinda to ram Isaac so they can both escape, but Bonnie will have a chance to stop him if she wants.]
( She utters the word and sends it in the direction of Headache to catch him before he makes contact - and hopefully doesn't become a fireball blazing at Belinda and Isaac... (15) )
[Well, Headache definitely catches on fire (8). And is coming towards Isaac as a human-shaped fireball. Isaac's eyes widen, but he dodges out of the way of the oncoming fire (14), releasing Belinda in the process.
Belinda, however, is not so fortunate (2), and is bowled over by her compatriot on fire with a scream, ending the last two threats on the board in one fell swoop.
Isaac releases a breath, before moving quickly across the field to Bonnie, reaching for her.]
I'm fine. You? ( Probably wet, too. Once he confirms, she checks on Clara. It's been a minute, that vampire blood should be working its' way through her system. And then Lee, who's probably shaken. )
At least we know they're guarding the perimeter. I think we made the right choice. ( To Isaac. ) Was the drop bad?

She was in Europe, ended up in Mystic Falls -- and I guess she's in Star City, now. Her brother's from there, too. She's actually pretty famous.
