Yeah, that's the witch told me before everything went boom. I saw one of them messing with something weird when I was on the phone with Jer.
[Stefan reaches for one of the pieces of rubble, and lifts it away, depositing it to the side. It's not enough to get Dawn out, but there is a shaft of light that she blinks into as they see her face.]
I think the witch in question got squashed somewhere to my right.
I don't think that was the real reason. I think it was more what was used to radicalize them.
[This was related to something else, though Dawn isn't really sure what yet. More of the rubble is slowly removed to reveal Dawn's pocket under the rubble, where her right leg is definitely sitting at an unfortunate angle.]
Think once it's all wrapped up, I'll be able to fly with it?
[She has a feeling Jeremy will like to see her in person, especially considering he's likely freaking out that she's not picking up her (smashed) phone and all her calls are going to voicemail.
"Let's just worry about getting you out of there first," Stefan says in his calm, steady Stefan voice. He clears enough space so that he can hop down there next to her, and frowns. "I can give you blood, or we can try and brace it until we can get you to the hospital."
Dawn makes a face before shaking her head.]
Not life threatening. That's save that blood for if we really need it.
[Stefan nods, then looks up at Faith. "See if you can find two pieces of wood, about equal size?" He starts stripping off his shirt, leaving him in his undershirt as he starts to make some strips to tie the brace off.]
Dunno, but Willow could always magic you to somewhere. That how that works? Also, pretty sure there's a witch on speed dial who whammies doors.
( Not Faith just giving out David on retainer. But, he fought beside her in London. She hears shit. People tend to just talk around her cause she's quiet. Then she pipes up with an opinion. Some people take her seriously, some people don't.
Faith has never liked blood as a solution, but when you're in a jam.
She gets to work, searching around the rubble. (16) )
[Fortunately, there's enough broken furniture and broken windows that she can find two equally sized pieces of wood to pass down to Stefan. He pauses as he braces her leg and warns her gently: "This is going to hurt."
Dawn braces herself and there's a small wince of pain as he moves her leg back into place. She blinks away the tears.]
Undersold that one.
[He flashes her a wry smile, and sets to work, but before he gets too far, she catches his arm.]
Buffy?
[He swallows. "Last we saw her, she was in the kitchen."
Kitchen is bad. Dawn knows that well enough, given the gas stove if nothing else. But she can't think about her sister being dead right now. So she squeezes his arm again.]
( One, so they don't fall apart or freeze in place worrying about Buffy. And, two, because where one witch is, there might be others. There might be humans. More bombs... )
When I find her, I'll tell her that her kid sister's a strong one. You got this.
( When Dawn is splinted, Faith reaches behind her to help Stefan get her out safely. It's a two-man job, and Faith and Stefan are basically four. )
[She lets herself be maneuvered between Faith and Stefan, slowly making their way back out towards the front one step at a time. Her eyes widen when she sees the bodies left behind at various points and she shakes her head.]
There were so many kids here. Did any of them make it out?
[She takes that sign for what it is, feels the anger starting to bubble under all the pain, and Stefan gives her a small squeeze.]
Clara and Lee were going to contact Mia, make sure all the other cells are accounted for. Then they were going to head to town for help. I'm sure they're fine.
[They just have to get through the woods full of vampires first, which he isn't sure they could do. But before Dawn could ply him for more questions, he hears sounds of voices in the driveway.]
Bonnie?
[He then reaches for Dawn and Faith both.]
Hang on.
[And with that, they do a little vampire zip, zip, zoom out to the driveway towards the sound of the voices.]
( Faith never gets used to vampire zippage, but lands with slayer aplomb.
Bonnie has the door open for Clara and Lee to climb into the rental Isaac's opened. She whirls around ready to send a spell before "Stefan," she says, before rushing forward. "Dawn!")
[He smells blood, but it doesn't smell like hers. He glances over at Scarlett and she raises her hands.
"We're all fine. One of the young girls had a close call, but I gave her some blood so as long as she doesn't die before tomorrow, she should be fine, but understandably, they wish to be far away from here."
Stefan nods, before helping Dawn move closer.]
Dawn's leg is pretty bad. Do you think you could get her to a hospital?
[Isaac nods, as Clara and Lee get up to help maneuver Dawn into the back seat. As Stefan pulls back from the car, Scarlett places a hand on his arm.
"Stefan, this was the Tower."
Stefan doesn't have direct experience with the Ivory Tower the way that Damon does. Stefan was always too messy, too close to the Originals for him to have drawn their attention. But he knows enough to go:]
("Here," Bonnie says. "Confirmed." She stands with Faith, arms crossed. "Scarlett recognized two of the vampires." Which means there are more, maybe inside. )
Tower sounds like a bad omen. Like a fortune card. Am I missing something?
The Ivory Tower is an old school vamp organization. They usually fly more under the radar but they've been around almost as long as the Originals have. I've never met them, but Damon had some run ins with them around the first World War.
[Scarlett makes a face. "My fault, I'm afraid. I was beguiled by their good graces when I wasn't at my best. But I do agree that their involvement here is strange. There must be something that we're missing."]
What's to miss? Vamp Organization bad. Stakes for all.
( Leave it to Faith to keep everything succinct.
Bonnie, having headed back to the car to give Isaac a hug and an uncharacteristic quick kiss on the lips (She's trying to do more things for herself!), speaks
"Don't you want to know why? Why them and why now?"))
I certainly do. It'll let us know if we should expect more attacks.
[Scarlett frowns. "The ones I recognized weren't high enough to make this kind of call. They're lackeys more than anything. If we want to know why, we need to find the shot-caller."]

( It makes no sense, why blow up the castle with themselves inside? For the cause? )
I don't get it. We got witch royalty -- ( Wait. ) Right. Hypocrites. I'll hypocrite their faces.
