She said yes to the proposal. Pretty sure that means she wants to get married.

[He doesn't know Lindsay incredibly well, but he knows that much about her. She wouldn't waste either of their times by not saying no.]

She doesn't want the big to-do. Family troubles. I thought bringing her out to Ireland, meeting everyone. Might assuage her. Deep down I think I knew she'd want something small. But, I pushed.

There's nothing wrong with something small if the important people are there.

[Bairre's wedding wasn't a showstopper - mostly because he and Laurie were young and broke. Her coven compensated for a lot of what they couldn't afford, and he made the wedding cake himself. It worked for them.

But he also knows his brother and knows that he's always wanted the big to-do.]

There's nothing wrong with a big to-do either. Maybe you can find a way to meet somewhere in the middle.

Yeah, maybe. Feels like we're in one long drawn-out fight. Which, was put on pause by the actual fight. Not looking forward to the sound of the bell.

( For the next round. )

[Well speaking of that, here comes said fiancée, bouncing over looking pleased as punch, discharge papers in hand.

Bairre, on the other hand, remembers that feeling well:]

My advice? Don't make it a fight. Try and at least start it as a conversation. It'll keep it from feeling like you're just delaying the inevitable.

Everything's sorted?

Good advice. Like you've done this once or twice. Linds is all settled up. I'll check in when we're back in the states.

( And right behind her, Faith.

"Your friendly neighborhood Slayber is here to take everyone to the airport. Dawnie's getting her things together. Meeting in five. Then we jet."

Sounds good.

[And she'll wait until Faith wanders off before glancing over to her partner.]

Sounded like your phone was continuously vibrating. Family get word of the news?

( He tucks his phone away and gets up from the chair. )

Ma. And then all the Ford's. That was Barrie. He woke up to chaos. And a really good bread joke he didn't appreciate. ( he draws her closer and presses a kiss to her forehead, careful not to smush her arm that's in a sling. ) Close call back there.

[She curls into him as she nods.]

Yeah, it was.

[She doesn't like how close it was. She doesn't like how brutal a day that was supposed to be a comfortable get together with friends had become. And more than anything:]

I'm really glad you're okay.
telegraphs: (kiss me)

[personal profile] telegraphs 2025-06-20 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Back at you.

( He doesn't know what he would do if anything happened to her. )

Love you more than anything.

Love you too.

[She takes a deep breath before looking up at him.]

And while I was waiting forever for the doctor to appear to let me go, I was thinking about the wedding. And I had an idea.

I shouldn'ta made a big deal of it. It's just a wedding. I love you. I want to be married to you. I don't care how or where or with who. Well, we need witnesses. I do want it legal. But, that's my dealbreaker.

( Or, she can come back with her better idea. )

[personal profile] patrols 2025-06-20 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
[She has a much better idea.]

Well, here's my idea. We can do all the bells and whistles. The cake and the dress and the big party you want. But I have a couple compromises.

One, we don't rush this. We have it after we move and are settled in New Orleans. I know you're going to be busy so I will do the bulk of the planning, but we take our time.

Two ... I love all your brothers, babe, but you have too many. I don't have enough friends that I consider bridesmaid worthy to match them and I know you could pick but I don't want to make you so can we do a really small wedding party? Like maid of honor, best man, flower girl and ring bearer, that's it?

[She doesn't think those are big asks to keep the bulk of what he wanted, but it's still making her a bit nervous to ask.]

Let's hear 'em.

( It's better than he expects and all stipulations he can work with and around. His smile widens into a full on grin. )

Maeve'll be thrilled, and my brothers wouldn't do with the pomp and the circumstance, anyway. Deal. To all of it.

( Barrie Jr., the best man. )

[She grins as he grins before nodding. She's not sure who her maid (or man) of honor is going to be yet, but she will figure it out. They have time.]

Okay. Good. I'll loop in Cami to help when we get stateside.

Okay. Guess we should catch our -- Slayber.

( And then they shall. End Scotland part II )
