( Not too, too many security measures. A camera on each corner. But, no guard tower. No mountain ash or salt. The lab's remote, probably there to house people not sucked into the ground, he assumes. There is a familiar scent, one he remembers visiting the bayou with an ancient demigod boyfriend, Hope, and Josie. But, why would he be here?
Come to think of it, wasn't he supposed to summit with them?
There's a front door and a back door, and a balcony he could leap to. But, he's with Chris, who doesn't leap...
Two of the men split off from Josh and the one with a gun pointed at him as he takes him to an elevator. The buttons aren't marked, but Josh listens, and realizes he's heading downward.
The elevators open into a basement. The basement is sparse, except for two - lab techs who look like Olympians (vampires?) - watch as the newcomer is taken down a hallway. One takes out a card, slides it through a panel and the door slides open. )
You have Jed?
( Well, that doesn't -- help his tourist story. Bars separate him from the room Jed is in as Josh steps inside. He looks back. He spins around, trying to sell the incredulousness, again. (17) )
What is going on?
( One lab tech turns to the other.
"Do you believe in coincidences?"
Tech 2 shrugs. "They don't. And they don't care." She turns to the man with a gun. "Watch them."
He nods, the door slides shut.
Josh's act drops, as he turns back. Was he pulled into this, too? Is Ben? )
[That's mean, he shouldn't have gone off like that. His face looks as though he regrets it because Josh - that's his name, Josh. Married to Hayley's second. Anyway, Josh has nothing to do with this and can't tell him where Ben is, and is a much older and never mind a vampire, so he should probably be nicer.]
Sorry.
[He doesn't sound very sorry, but he is.]
I've been here for weeks. Ben and I were on a hike and we came across the whole mess with the trees and them suddenly catching fire. Then Ben is getting sucked into the ground and a zombie that looks like my dad comes out of nowhere and once I've dealt with him these guys show up and shove me in here.
[And he's been there for weeks, at least. He's definitely lost track of time somewhere around when his phone died, but has to be that.]
They feed me but that's about it.
[There's a beat and he drops his voice as he gets closer.]
Do they know you ... have a very specific diet?
[Meanwhile on the outside, Aiden is mostly concerned about the cameras. He wants to know how many people are inside. He tips his head towards one of the cameras then looks to Chris. "Can you shoot one of them out from here?"]
( It looks like he's captured, he'd say, but he has been in Jed's place before. Under thumb. Your actions are stifled. Not your own. He doesn't throw attitude back. Just waits for the explanation as he scans the sparse double room they're in separated by bars.
Josh turns back. So, Jed being here really is a coincidence? He's shocked so a (7) doesn't deem what kind of motivation he can sense. )
It's a failsafe.
( He starts there. )
You and Ben stumbled onto the hiding place for these ancient witch's original bodies. They thought you were a threat, sucked one of you into oblivion and gave the other a neat reminder of someone you failed.
( He guesses. He's not the magic guy. That's Davina's MO.
He steps closer, lowering his voice, too. He goes to grab the bars and he gets a shock he doesn't expect. his (12) has him absorb only some before pulling back. )
Great. ( Right, his point. ) They don't know anything. I think they bought I also stumbled onto it. And they don't know I was with anyone else. I'm not alone. Aiden's here. And - an Argent.
( Chris just smirks.
"Pick which one," he says, readying his gun to aim. )
["Let's start with the closest one. I want to try and lure some of them out into a blind spot."
Jed takes a breath as he calculates that, trying to make all of that make sense. Though his father is not someone he failed, so he rejects that right off, but maybe there's some kind of thread of truth there. Something related that may pertain to his father.
Not the problem right now.]
I'm all for getting out of here, but we need to figure out how to get to wherever they took Ben. I'm not leaving without him.
( this is Chris Argent, I'm not rolling. he uses his inspiration and years and years of training to knock the first one out. nothing happens right away. but it is one of four cameras.
Josh nods. )
I'm not going anywhere without Davina either. She, Scott McCall, Sam Winchester and Allison Argent all disappeared, too. Thinking they're all in the same place is getting me through it.
( because they can't be dead. it doesn't make any logical sense. but he doesn't know anything beyond that. he's out of his element. (6) )
[Aiden was going to give it five to ten minutes but before anyone can appear, a mild-mannered looking man in a trench coat just appears, suddenly, in front of the door, staring up at the building like it's an intricate puzzle he's trying to solve.
Jed frowns as he processes that. He doesn't know who the other three are but he does remember Davina's name, knows she's important to New Orleans. She can't stay trapped.]
Could you tell if the guards were human?
[He can't, not anymore, not without becoming a werewolf again. But Josh can probably tell.]
("You want another?" he asks, aiming for the second, on the other side. He can also assassinate the guy, too, but -- he doesn't do that - and doesn't know if this guy's a human, vampire, or other. )
You mean the guy and girl in a lab coat doing their best impression of American Gladiator's? Pretty sure they're vampires. Guys with the guns, though. Not.
( A (17) has him holding a hand up while he counts the heartbeats inside. )
[Six chances for him to wind up a werewolf again before this is all said and done, but he tries not to think about that and focus on getting them out.]
Maybe we can use them not knowing about you to our advantage.
[Meanwhile, outside, Aiden tips his head as he studies this strange new entity. "Who the hell is that?"
Castiel, who is in search of Sam and unable to find him, turns his head towards the two souls present on the exterior of the building, and then says: "I mean you no harm. I am simply in search of Sam Winchester."]
I'm not planning on being here any longer than I have to be. Rescuing you, Davina, Ben, and the others. That's my priority. And Aiden's priority is - well, me, but it will be us once he gets a load of you.
( A beat passes. )
We thought you might have decided against his pack.
( Outside, Chris realizes something.
"He just appear like that?" Chris asks, with no time before Cas says the magic word. "...Lost him about an hour ago," Chris says. "My daughter, Allison, too. Scott, and Davina Claire.")
I hadn't. I mean, I feel like it's complicated because I'm still untriggered, but I liked the pack. It felt right, and Hope was cool with it.
[He frowns as he tries to figure out exactly how long he's been here.]
Last date I remember was August fifteenth. What day is it now?
[He almost doesn't want the answer, but if he's been gone long enough that they think he decided against it ...
Castiel tips his head to the side curiously and nods. "Sam called me, but this is the closest I could get to him." So Sam at least is alive, even if they don't exactly know where to find him.]
Black Friday, actually. We were all at Scott's mom's for Thanksgiving and then Sam got a call. Sam and his brother have been helping out with the other witch bodies. ( There was a host of them who flat out said 'No.' Davina being conscripted by default made it an easy decision for him and Aiden. ) It's this whole thing. Crazy you just... fell into it.
( Or, Ben did. Sucked?
Chris, wary, addresses him.
"He called you," Chris asks, pulling his own phone out to see if Allison tried calling him. )
[Jed seems shocked that it's been that long, and his shoulders slump visibly. "I missed first semester." That should not be the only takeaway, but he is eighteen, give him a minute.
Castiel blinks before shaking his head.]
Not on the phone. He prayed. My name is Castiel. I'm an angel of the Lord.
[Aiden blinks, before glancing back at Chris. "Angels are a thing?"]
( He inspects his room first, and the bars, with a (16) he can see that the door behind him is probably his best bet. Even if he can get to the window running along the top of the room, there's nothing to grab ahold of. There's nothing in his or Jed's room that might turn the electricity off. )
You haven't tried the bars, have you?
( Untriggered, that hurt and could've done heart damage.
Chris nods.
"According to Allison. Sam and Dean -- apparently Hell's real. Jury's out on it being a hell dimension." But that's all Chris knows. "Prayer really works," he says, wryly. It could've fooled him. )
[Jed snaps out of his reverie, shaking his head as he does. "Didn't seem like a good idea. I did try to brute force it out the door when they tried to feed me, but that didn't go my way."
Aiden nods slowly, again, not sure what to make of it or how they feel about werewolves and vampires, but he won't look a gift horse in the mouth. "We were trying to figure out a way inside."
Castiel nods, before turning back to the front of the facility.]
This door seems to be open. Perhaps we should use it.
( He turns back to the door. The guy behind it isn't standing there anymore. )
Hey, I no longer have a guard.
( That's something. Chris turns back to the building again, like Castiel.
"Three armed men accompanied Aiden's husband inside. We don't know who else is in there with them. Angels always go in half-cocked or is this the Castiel special?")
[Castiel turns his eyes back to the building and studies it again, before nodding.]
There are seven humans and three vampires within the building. Most human weapons don't have much of an effect on me.
[Probably not the same for Aiden and Chris though, he can acknowledge that.
Jed shrugs. "Element of surprise, right?" Which seems a pretty cold calculation and he probably shouldn't assume that just because he's an older vampire that he's okay with killing people. Maybe he has been in here too long.]
( For the record? Also, neat trick, counting the bodies. What they are and everything. Okay, he has credibility. )
We'll follow your lead.
( He's heard angels are formidable.
Josh tries the door with a huge kick first getting a (10). An echo sounds after it. He waits, to see if someone comes running. a (12) follows as he attempts to use his shoulder.
"It's reinforced."
He looks back at the bars.
"If I can endure the shock, I could bend the bars, get you in here with me. Two's better than one. Stand back."
Moving closer to the bars, he grabs them, first trying to endure the pain: (19) has him easily taking the jolt as he pulls the two bars further apart and with a (13) it's going to take time, but it does happen! Just not instantaneously. )
["Wait, wait, stop." Jed reaches forward, trying to push him back as much as he can without getting shocked himself. "If you hurt yourself really bad, we don't know when we can get you blood. There has to be another way."
Castiel shrugs off the mention of vampires.]
They won't enjoy biting me, at least. But if you would rather stay here, I can investigate first.
[Yeah, Aiden's not going to do that. He doesn't know what angels can do but he doesn't want them accidentally doing it to Josh. "No, I'm with you."]
[Jed doesn't have a better option. He's been staring at the problem for so long, he feels like he can't find his way out the other side.
"I don't know. ... I don't know."
In the meantime, Castiel turns and walks into the building. Aiden jogs enough to catch up with him, falling into step behind the angel and keeping his eyes peeled for any sign of trouble. The angel just keeps moving forward, almost as though he's out for a stroll.]
I believe we have to go to the next level.
[And he'll just reach out for both of their shoulders as he goes to take them down to the next floor in the blink of an eye. He just so happens to land them outside of the cells holding Josh and Jed.]
("Short of triggering your werewolf curse and waiting for the full moon, I don't either," he admits. Turning back to the door, he drags fingers along the small window, makes a fist and punches. His fist goes right through, glass shattering around it and out the other side. Shaking off the glass, he immediately starts to heal, the other bits of glass being pushed out of his healing wounds.
"Well. I did... that."
Did it help?
Inside the facility, an elevator ride up, Chris holds the door open for Aiden and takes up the rear.
Castiel is nonchalant, very not how an angel might be in Chris' eyes, but something tells him he's got this.
In a blink, they're one level down. In the hallway, there are doors, one with a broken window Josh is standing by and one with an intact window - with Jed inside his side of the cell.
"Woah," Josh says. "Is he good backup?"
Did he do that?
Chris gets a crit fail at keeping it together after being telported on a whim and he doesn't move. He's still processing. Don't mind him. )
[Aiden is fine (11), probably because he was immediately distracted by his husband's face and he makes his way over to the door to try and figure out if he can get it open.]
He's looking for Sam. Says he's an Angel of the Lord.
[His tone is fairly neutral, for how ridiculous that sounds.
Castiel looks over at a description that resembles him and nods. "My name is Castiel."
Aiden nods at the introduction before trying to look Josh over through the window.]
[Aiden studies the setup, before glancing back at Castiel.]
Any chance that angel powerset comes with hacking abilities?
[Castiel tips his head to the side, before he blinks from view again, and suddenly he's inside the cage with Josh. He reaches his hand through the bars to place a hand on Jed's shoulder (the electricity doesn't seem to bother him), before placing the other on Josh's and they blink out of view before reappearing in the hallway.
Jed is fine, blinking around as he adjusts to the hallway (16). "That's ... thank you?"
( Excuse Josh, because he turns around and promptly throws up. That's a trip.
"Sam was sucked into the ground like everyone else. I bet they're still there," Chris says, hoping that Castiel would know if Sam were dead. He can feel his presence, he assumes.
He trails the hallway to the end and opens a door to stairs going up and going down.
"Might be a tunnel at the end of these," he offers. )
