[Lydia listens to that ramble and decides to start with the least complicated thing and work her way up.]

You have to go to Paris?

[If it's work that would be a bummer, but if it's for fun then maybe Lydia could tag along. She hopes she could tag along. Harvey better not be running off to one of the most romantic cities in the world to meet with another woman.

(She doesn't think he is, but it's still a thought that crosses her mind.)]

The key to ending the Colony's reign is in Paris. David gave me the instructions, Ezra paid Donna an end of the line visit, and Jo called in the chip.

( He gives her a lopsided smile. )

I want you to come to Paris with me. My only part is leading the horse to water. They can drink without me.

I would love to go to Paris with you.

[If for no other reason than to make sure he makes it to the meeting where he's leading said horse. It could be helpful to have someone who can blow out people's eardrums for fun.]

How long should I pack for?

[rehire]

Let's take the week. I do my part, and then we go to the South of France. Go off grid.

( Romantically and away from witches that might target him. )

Jessica won't blame me once she learns what happened. Not that I want Jessica to know three witches got the drop on me, but. Most of the senior associates are going to ground, anyway. Being a lawyer to anyone right now.

Besides, it's the holidays. Do things slow down in the legal world?

[She feels like they do almost everywhere else, but maybe that's because it's when everyone decides to sue everyone else.]

They do if I say they do.

( Or, his associates will work doubly hard and he'll take calls or emails "here" or "there." )

Then I think Jessica should be fine.

[She lets that settle for a moment, before glancing back at him.]

Are you worried about David? I know he's a client, but ... you've been pretty involved in this project.

[Is she dancing around that David might not be just a client and might also be Harvey's friend? Maybe.]

[rehire]

Jessica will understand. I haven't taken a real vacation in over a decade.

( Maybe, it's the magic wearing off, or the connection he has with Lydia that's steadily built. But, he looks down at his hands, then out the limo window, and back. )

David's a friend of mine. An old one, and this is as bad as it gets for him and his husband. If they don't come back from this, my portfolio's going to look a lot different.

I don't know David well. But from what I've heard about him is that he's either incredibly resourceful or a massive pain in the ass.

[She reaches over and takes his hand, giving it a small squeeze.]

Let's hope the latter end of that description serves him well.

I never apologized on his behalf for getting you mixed up in the Kirsanov plan.

( So, this is it. )

It was a real dick move. But, I'm happy I was able to be there, at least. My world's not easy, Lydia.

[beanchaointe]

Yes, it was a real dick move. But it wasn't your fault.

[So he doesn't need to apologize on David's behalf, lawyer or not.]

But I was also already in this world, and I already knew that. Scott McCall may look like all smiles but growing up in Beacon Hills wasn't easy. Whatever's happening on your side, I can take it.

[rehire]

I don't doubt that. But there's a point where, I'll do my best to keep you out of it. The lawyer stuff, that's easy. But, the witch stuff. It overlaps more than it should for my liking. Usually, I keep a handle on it. Everything's boiling over. ( She knows where the scales tipped. ) But if everything goes to plan, we should be stateside again. With one less board of directors we need to worry about.

[beanchaointe]

[Lydia nods, before shifting to face him more.]

I appreciate you trying to protect me. But if this is going to keep going, we're going to be in this together. I'd much rather be in the loop and have us be partners, than being stuck on the outside for what other people say is my own good.

[She's been there, in high school, where things were happening all around her and people felt they had to lie to her to keep her safe.]

I want to be with you. And there's no guarantee that problems from my side of the fence won't come up again either. We're stronger together.

[rehire]

Damn right we are.

( One hand rests on her knee. )

We're a power couple.

[beanchaointe]

Exactly. And I think we make a pretty good one.

[They arrive at her apartment, and she smiles.]

And tonight, this power couple is going to have a cozy night in.

[rehire]

( He snakes an arm around her, his other one reaching out, resting above her head against the wall. )

Funny, my cozy-drowsy feeling is wearing off.

Mmmm.

[She smiles as she leans back against the wall, hooking her fingers around his tie to pull him closer.]

Lucky me.
