[Waverly nods as she undoes the chain, letting the ring slide off before holding it out to him.]
Thought it would be a good idea to keep it close. I ... I didn't expect something like this, but I guess being prepared has it's perks.
[Back in the hallway, Liv nods because that's something they have in common. When something is too good to be true, it's easy to wait for the other shoe to drop.
Part of her is still waiting for the downside of them breaking the curse, if she's honest. (Don't worry, Liv. That's coming.)
She does snort at what he ends with though. "That's because she hasn't met me yet." Then she pauses, studying his face and reading in between the lines. "Want me to have a look? See if I notice anything, magically speaking?"]
( Wynonna stays back, leaning against a counter. She smells the coffee, but the big reunion is happening in front of it. So, she tips a chin to Carol. "Sup," she says.
Charlie takes the ring, holding it between three fingers before instinctively sliding it on. )
Were you in the girl scouts?
( Outside of the kitchen, Tyler lets out an amused "heh," the tension releasing. "Maybe." After, he admits he does, nodding, before looking over to Luke who puts his phone away.
"Just telling Robin I'm alive, don't worry, I'm in witch mode. I was giving you two your gooey moment. Meeting the mother-in-law. Big day.")
("Wynonna. Waverly's sister," he says, cocking her head back. "Letting them have their pseudo father-daughter reunion. Don't ask," she says, busying herself with - yeah, not much to really do. She's being emotional support. "Tyler and Liv got pretty hurt on the job, but we were able to swoop in at the last second. Send some rogue witches and a giant eldritch worm packing."
It was fun. And violent. It probably seems like that's one of Wynonna's bags. )
Helping?
( Is it supposed to help? He turns his hand over, flexing his fingers. She wants Julian. Of course she wants Julian. But, he's Charlie. He knows he's Charlie. He doesn't know how he knows, but he does. He looks up, apologetically. )
He's in here. Or, up here.
( Tyler peers out the window.
"Considering all the feelings in here, I'd probably be passed out in the car, too," he admits, if he weren't knee-deep in it. "Let him sleep." At least, he thinks Dolls isn't dead? )
[It's not fine fine, but it's enough for now. She was hoping for Julian but she can also acknowledge that he's been through a lot and maybe how he died has impacted things as well.]
It just sounded like you were a little out of it, so I wasn't sure if it was an angel thing or a back from the dead thing. It is really good to see you.
[Carol nods as she takes that in, because well. Tyler's new extracurriculars are certainly fun. "I miss when things in Mystic Falls were just vampires." Life was much simpler then.
Dolls is not dead. He'll give a thumbs up to the windshield to prove it.
Liv shrugs, before taking Tyler's hand. "Okay. Let's go meet your mom. I'm sorry if I say anything stupid in advance."]
("Luke. Her twin brother. Here on witch patrol. Get into the cosmic nooks, the... spirit crannies if they're out there. But, word on the street is people are back. Actually back. Could be good news," he says, tipping his head forward. For her and for -- the guy in the t-shirt behind them fiddling with the coffee machine.
If not, why, at least get a better read on the situation. People returning, there are always consequences of some kind. Nature craves balance. And, if there's no shoe about to drop, that might even be weirder.
( The reality fully sucks, but he's never sugarcoated things for his mom. )
Not saying I don't want this to be real. Permanent. It's just rare and never on this scale. Sheriff Forbes is on her way back, Elena's aunt Jenna, Bonnie's grandmother...
Wow. Sounds like a real free for all. And maybe not necessarily good?
[Liv waves a hand. "Right now it's a net-neutral. There was a big witch throwdown that happened tonight and this could be a consequence from that or it could be the next big problem on the horizon but right now we just want to make sure that there isn't some kind of time limit on this."
Carol nods, understanding why Tyler is concerned.]
Well, if there is a time limit, we'll make the most of it. But how do we get started?
( Luke gives a 'calm down, buddy,' Luke to his brother-in-law (basically) before stepping up to the plate, so-to-speak.
"We already have. You don't have to move. I'll get a read on you, and Liv is going to check out Charlie over there. All you have to do is hold out your hands."
He could be more invasive, go chemical, but, first thing's first. Magic. When she does, he places his palms on hers and mutters to himself. (15) )
[Liv, unfortunately, doesn't roll as well for Charlie (9). She kind of gets overwhelmed with the angel of it all, and she's never actually examined one before so she winds up pulling her hands back and blinking at him.]
Sorry. I forgot you're not human, so my baseline was off.
[She'll try again.
But as Luke examines Carol, he'll notice the same things that Davina noticed when she was examining Erica: the magic is wholly unfamiliar, something he's never seen before, but he can see that there's no switches waiting to be flipped, or changes waiting to be triggered. The spell is complete. It's just hard to really tell what it was.]
( Luke feels the unfamiliarity of the magic, but that there are no kill zones or off switches, and lets out a very simple "Huh," when he opens his eyes. It's as if the spell happened, and was completed how it needed to be. But there is no trace. )
[Liv takes a breath and course corrects, now that she's prepared for what's actually happening (16). What she finds is mostly similar to Luke and Davina and she pulls back with a frown.]
I'll second that "huh." This is nothing I've seen before, but from what I can tell it's done. No catch waiting in the wings.
"Whatever spell brought you back. It's open and closed, like a full circle." He faces everyone in the kitchen now. "Most spells cast, they're open ended and they have an origin, who cast it, what type of magic, where did it come from, this... there isn't a trace, nor is there a way to undo it, as if the magic did what it needed to, brought you all forward."
["So we're here for good? Or at least until we die again?" Carol just wants to be clear that that is what they're saying. Liv nods as she steps back from Charlie.]
From what we can tell, yeah.
[She won't say that Carol could be hit by a bus tomorrow and it wouldn't be the spell's fault, but she doesn't want to believe that fate would be that cruel. At least for Tyler's sake anyway.
She moves over to lean against him, a small gesture of reassurance, that everything is okay for now. No other shoe waiting to drop.]
("But, whatever you were before, you are now. Char - Juli -- Charjuul is an angel. Mrs. Lockwood, you're human. There is nothing different about you, but also there are no guarantees. You're not immortal. You're just...")
Here. Again.
( Tyler leans against Liv in return, taking this in, looking at his mom, looking at Char-- who? And Waverly. )
["Well, that's a level of mortality I'm used to. I'll be fine."
Waverly is still trying to wrap her head around a lot of it, and is going back and forth on her conversation with Sam and how she now wants to ask the other man more questions. Nephilim is a fine point on an existence that she's been mostly floating through. And Sam's phrasing seems to indicate there are more of them.
But that's maybe a conversation for later.]
How are you doing with all of this?
[To Charlie specifically, given how complicated this all is.]
( Charlie turns to her, oh, is she asking him? Is this an incredibly public display? The coffee machine beeps, ready.
Retiring to the other room, he would rather things between them remain private. This room is just as well-furnished as the others, even though he thinks he overheard someone say it's not open to the public anymore?
Finally alone, and with two cups of coffee, he sits with her. )
So, I don't really know how to handle any of this. I slept. For me, that's a start.
[Waverly follows him out, taking a seat next to him as she curls her hands around the cup.]
I'll take your word for it. And I can't really say I blame you for not knowing how to handle any of this when none of the rest of us do.
[It's complicated and there's not really a precedent.]
We can stay here as long as you want, but long term, Wynonna and I have been living in New York. You could come back with us, if you want, while you figure things out.
[She won't put that in the context of Wynonna's booty call even if Wynonna seems to want to at every opportunity.]
And if we're honest, Julian and I didn't really have a lot of time to form expectations. Even if you were him one hundred percent we'd be starting from scratch anyway.
[As much as she does want to get to know Julian, she can manage without him. She's been managing without him for a long time now.]
Good. I'm gonna talk with Wynonna and Dolls and see what the plan is.
[They have to be back he weekend after Christmas to see Barry, but Alice is waiting for them in New York, and it'll be nice to have Charlie as part of the family holiday.

Waverly gives a huff as she shakes her head.]
No, but man did I want to. I would have been so good at it. But there wasn't an adult to run a troop in Purgatory so I just kind of had to suck it up.
[She watches him slide the ring on, and she feels a flutter of concern, of hope that maybe they can pick up where they left off.]
Is it helping?
[Liv rolls her eyes at her brother, before glancing out the door. "Is Dolls okay out there?"
The other man has reclined his seat, stretched out and looks as though to also be dead to the world.]

Coffee?

Carol perks up when she sees Tyler come in, followed by a pair of blonds. She raises an eyebrow towards her son then smiles.]
Let me guess. This must be Olivia.
["Liv. It's nice to meet you, Mrs. Lockwood."
She shakes her head, waving a hand.]
Carol, please.
