I think most people that do, don't. You're not alone there.
[Dawn's eyes dart back to Serena briefly, the pull of the siren song still there, but she's still withstanding.]
I don't think she is either. I think she just doesn't expect people to notice. Especially when all she's trying to siren you into doing is staying to watch her sing.
But if you want to talk about people with powers though, maybe you should talk to Mia. She's a legacy of the superhero crowd.
( He was jock-ish and dickish before his power emerged, so he was on the Gaelic field and keeping his weight up, not paying attention to superheroes. )
I'll take your word for it, then. ( re: Serena. ) That wouldn't be awkward at all. "An' what are you, now?"
Ya' think? I already do that, not looking to really ramp up my efforts if you know what I mean. You're on Lindsay's side, though, but you've met by big brother?
Actually technically I'm more on his side of things. Watcher solidarity.
[She smirks as she reaches for her drink.]
Beck and I were kind of coming up around the same time as Giles was remaking the Watcher's Council so we got to work on a lot of projects together. Granted, I was in college, he was done with all that, but it creates a bond all the same.
It's a weird shop to talk about. You spend a lot of your days buried in books and talking about demons from dimensions with no name and it kind has the way of killing a vibe.
[With Buffy and Jeremy it's easy, as they're also in the biz, as it were, but other people can make things complicated.]
I'm sure when he's around you guys the last thing he wants to talk about is his day job.

( He kind of wonders why he'd talk to a superhero. He's not superhero worthy. His power is a burden. As far as he's concerned. )
I'll tell you, lass, we know when our power is up to know good. Turning it off ain't an option. So, if she can, she's not one of us.

[And that's common knowledge so Dawn doesn't feel bad about sharing it. This is what happens when you take your heroing public.
But as for Serena:]
I don't know either way. I don't think we'd be able to know unless we talked to her and she felt comfortable sharing.

I probably wouldn't lead with that, no. Definitely sounds like a way to put someone on edge.

( Let's talk more about you, Dawn! )

( Does she know his ma? )
You're old friends, then. He doesn't talk shop with his siblings. He took up the mantle like ma, but we're all proud.
( In their own ways. )

( Callahan thinks it's more than that, more heroic. But, that's his big brother. )
More like, rehashing our childhood beef. Giving each other guff.

[Dawn nods in agreement.]
That sounds like siblings. Me and my sister are big on the casual bickering.
