[Caroline doesn't really expect her to bite though.]

( He's equally as wary, but not as usually prickly as he can be. )

I don't really blame her. She doesn't know anyone here, and we were supposed to keep him safe.

Hunters found you. If anything, it's good they were with you.

( He gets the guilt Caroline feels and he knows how to exploit that, but also how to reassure her as well. )

I didn't - ( He looks to Jo. ) know hunters were in town.

No one did. I just found out when I got back into town, and it seemed to be a fairly ... new development.

[They only found out because Stefan was attacked, after all.]

[Sam's hands land on Ezra's shoulders to steady him as they collide, but his face is amicable as he nods.]

Don't worry about it. Things are pretty crowded.

[And he'll step aside to let Ezra escape, keeping his eyes on Caroline and the other doctor with her.]

( "For this time of night," Ezra confirms, leaving everyone to get acquainted.

Once he's gone, the Winchesters join Caroline and -- this woman. Dean peers into the room, and then turns back to them. )

This usually takes a while, though. Oh! Sam and Dean Winchester, this is Dr. Jo Laughlin. She's Alaric's wife.

["Or Ric is my husband, depending on who you ask." Her tone is mostly teasing as she holds out a hand to Sam first, who shakes, followed by Dean. "Nice to meet you."]

( They really like him. He turned hunting into something that means something. Sure, they had to infiltrate to make sure he was good, but the conclusion has been met. )
