It sounded like that had been bubbling up for a while.

I didn't want to become a vampire. Didn't even think it would work. And she... I'm not telling your best friend what to do, but she needs to watch her back.

( He's not in the mood anymore, he's not - anything anymore. He heads back down the hallway to Elena's bedroom. He's exhausted. He needs a minute. He needs -- he's needed ten years worth of minutes. )
