Bela smirks.]
Good for her, then.
no subject
( Because everything not normal about her targeted their family for so long. )
I wasn't aware there were days off for the regent.
no subject
[That being Vincent, because Vincent and Cami are still friends.]

Second, third, or anything in command, Davina has a responsibility to this city. Freya finds it in the goodness of her heart to take these meetings. She does not have to.
( Bela's phone buzzes, William or however she's programmed his name into her phone flashing. )
no subject
Before Bela can comment, the phone rings and she frowns at the caller ID. Pushing to her feet, she offers them an apologetic smile before stepping out.][She makes her way down to the courtyard before pressing her phone to her ear.]
William?
no subject
William speaks, frantically. He tries, tries to hold it together. (5)> Okay, he really likes him. )
If I drop you a pin, can you get there as fast as you can? My asset inside Monroe's outfit has been compromised.

[Before she can finish the sentence, a loud BOOM rocks through the Abattoir. Bela stumbles, moving to brace herself on a nearby chair to catch her balance, before straightening.
Her feet move out of the arch to the door, looking down the street to see the bright orange glow of flames coming from the main stretch of the Quarter.]
... Oh my god.
[Meanwhile, in the parlor, Cami also snaps towards the sound, eyes widening in concern.
"Was that the Quarter?"]

( Elijah's (10) by the window and Klaus' (4) by the painting ensure that all they experience is the blast, the rocking, and in Elijah's case, the firestorm.
"What in," Elijah mutters. "Niklaus."
William, across the country (14) hears the blast. )
What was that?
no subject
[Because there's the difference between a fire and an explosion, and that is definitely an explosion.]
Whatever it is that's happening, it's starting now.
[The boys are completely thrown by the explosion ruining their day, but Cami has her eyes on the prize (15). Her eyes fall on Hayley's bedroom across the way, and then widen as the sharp edges of broken glass in the window come into focus.
"Klaus, Hayley's window is broken." And she points, across the street to the bedroom.]
no subject
Klaus immediately goes to the window, phone in hand trying to call Hayley. )
What fresh Hell.

William does manage to find one news report, a worn looking reporter from the local news, a little green around the gills, having been sent out to cut her teeth on a puff piece about beignets and finds herself in the middle of a disaster zone. Behind her are panicking people, and the charred out remains of a local bar.
"Tragedy has struck here at Rousseau's this evening as the French Quarter staple was incinerated in a yet unknown blast. As residents of the city gathered for the annual beignet festival, the local bar exploded in a massive fire. In fact, it's a miracle that the buildings on either side weren't harmed --"
Ring-ring.
Bela zooms back up to the sitting room, looking wide-eyed and out of breath as she delivers the news.]
It was Rousseau's. They hit Rousseau's.
["Freya --" is the first word out of Cami's mouth the second she says it, but before anyone can comment further, someone answers Klaus's call.
Unfortunately, that someone is not Hayley.
Her voice is smooth and cool, and not one he recognizes, as while Klaus has tangled with her hunters before, they've never met face to face. But she also doesn't bother introducing herself, instead choosing to open with:
"You know, I have to say, your sister is quite impressive. She couldn't save them all, but containing the fire to one building, keeping it from taking out a city block? Who knew Klaus Mikaelson's older sister was so soft hearted for collateral damage."]
no subject
"I'll see if there's any other news reports. Any other... activity. Cooper? Cooper?"
Klaus looks back as the voice picks up. )
Certainly not someone who knows the last person they should have crossed is a Mikaelson. Witch, hybrid, or otherwise, we are not a family to be trifled with. Return Hayley and I won't kill you and your cohorts agonizingly slowly.

[Bela steps out again, trying to keep one ear on Klaus' phone call but also trying to manage the anxiety of the man on the other end of the phone.
"Oh, don't worry. I will. When the time is right. But you should know that it's not just the Crescent Alpha. I also have her Hale bedmate. I have the French Quarter regent. I have your little pet vampire that you let pretend is in charge. And, I even have your human patsy, who sells out his own people so that you can drown this city in fire and blood."
The tension in Monroe's voice raises just a little at that last one. He may be the one she hates most.
"Honestly, I thought we would be having this conversation later, but you called and I just couldn't resist. And I thought I would do you the courtesy of telling you that I'm coming for you too. That before the week is out, we will see each other face to face, and I will put an end to your murderous dynasty once and for all."]

And what grand plan involves trying to cripple the supernatural world of New Orleans? We are the hydra and we are of many heads. Good luck killing any of us. The Hale wolf aside, you have quite the uphill battle ahead. This is your last chance to come to me on bended knee. Kiss the ring of the king of New Orleans and I might show leniency. Refuse... and who knows what horrors await you and the sorry souls who have done your dirty work. I didn't say this in front of you, but I will now. You've signed their death warrants, Tamara. Every. One.

[It's the best she can do to keep William calm, because from the look of things, he's not. She also sends a text to Isaac that he should check in with his man, and about what happened at Rousseau's.
There's a smile sharp as daggers in Monroe's tone as she continues.
"I think you mistake me for someone who decided to take on Klaus Mikaelson on a whim. Believe me, I am not. I have been planning and preparing for this for months, and everyone here knows exactly what they signed up for. Perhaps, for a change, we've signed yours."
There's an idle pause as she moves to a window. As it slides open, his vampire hearing is able to pick out the sounds of sirens and people barking from below, chaos unfolding as no one knows what to do.
"You should go see to your sister, Klaus. I think she's having a bad day."
And with that, she hangs up.]
no subject
He does call his sister after hanging up on Bela. He doesn't even wait for her to talk before foaming at the mouth.
"Tell me not to fly out to New Orleans myself in the middle of hunter-geddon."
Klaus breathes very heavily. )
That's the problem with you lot. You think we're the scourge of the Earth and you ignore the darkness in your own hearts. You will die with that hatred. Mark my words.
( He hangs up, seething. )
Tamara Monroe has Hayley, Josh, Davina, a Hale werewolf Hayley and I will speak about later, and Hawthorne. And she planned the attack on Freya. She's been planning this for months. In all their bungling this is her final stand.
no subject
Bela looks at the text before turning back to Elijah.]
I have to go. Something's happening down by the river.
[Cami gives him a look at that comment about Derek - she likes Derek, he's sweet - but now is not the time, so she stays on task. "We should go find Freya. Make sure she's okay."]
no subject
And stay on Hayley's trail. When you need a wolf...
( Rolling down his contact list to Aiden. )
no subject
Not now, Klaus.
no subject
( Because... Aiden is involved, too. )
no subject
Davina too?
no subject
( Mostly, he needs you to be useful. But, why can't that usefulness be mutual? )
no subject
Freya is fine. Unconscious and overtaxed, but breathing. She's with Malia and her lunch date from out of town.
[He hopes that him knowing in advance will lead to him not ripping Harvey's head off.]
Scott's with me. I'm assuming that if you're calling you have a plan? Or at least orders to give?
no subject
Setting aside that you left my collapsed sister with a red shirt werewolf and a lunch date, I need you and the True Alpha at Hayley's. Catch her scent and find her.
no subject
[Anyone who thinks Malia Tate is a red shirt is probably going to wind up with Malia's claws in their face. He didn't mention Vincent because Vincent was triaging everyone but let's not get into that right now. He takes a breath because today's apparently all of Aiden's important people get taken day. Then he nods.]
We're on it.
[And then he's going to hang up and glance to Scott.]
We'll find them. We have to.
