Domestic bliss wasn't reached easily, and there really is no such thing as domestic bliss. He and Rebekah have something close therein. He settles in New Jersey, first, until he decides that he likes the bustle of Manhattan. (Jeremy and Waverly visited more when he moved to the city.) Jeremy surprised him with Adele tickets courtesy of Black Badge and that is where he met his future wife. The bar outside an Adele concert. They both agreed Adele is real music and that she harkens back to a simpler time.
Their courtship was an innocent one, free of revenants and vampires. But, an old witch's grudge brought the both of them back into the world they left behind and it came out that they were both once immortal, something that only brought them closer together. Jeremy, Wavery, Nicole, and even Wynonna attended the wedding. One of her sisters and two of her brothers made it. It was a family affair.
He knows he will never be right for Rebekah in Niklaus' eyes. He is the cowboy from Purgatory. There were words exchanged about the significance of the word and long-held resentments of Rebekah choosing to cure herself. But time heals and passes and soon they had a child together.
They lived a particularly insular, cultured life with very few close friends, two of which had grown extremely close with them. Neal Caffrey, a man Rebekah had met while traveling abroad and Sara, his forever fiancée, a modern idea if he ever saw one. But, he liked Sara, she was tough-as-nails and found him gainful employment that was better than police work. Even though he liked being law enforcement, he very rarely colored inside the lines and his number would have been up when it came to legality. Everything worked out.
Adorning himself of cufflinks, he straightens his collar out, checking himself in the mirror. No hat tonight, not on such a formal occasion. Instead, his hair is slicked back behind him. )
It is tender, juicy, and resting atop the stove.

[She never thought she could be this happy. But with a husband she loves and a family she treasures, it's like she has the life she's always wanted. If only Klaus could be less of a dick about it at times.
She smiles as she turns to face him, before adjusting her collar.]
You look very handsome.

( Every day she takes his breath away, dressed up or down, with their child underfoot or in hand, or not.
He knows that like most, family takes time to come around. He has high hopes for her brother and hers relationship. )
I lit candles for the ambience. Too much?
no subject
[Their dinners could always use a bit of ambience. Though Neal certainly has enough stories to set the mood. Might as well add some candlelight to go with it. Stepping out to check on the food, a knock sounds at the door.]
That's probably them. Open the wine?
no subject
He grabs the electric wine opener, before thinking better of it with Neal being their guest for the evening.
As for Neal, he holds a bottle himself (very old, very expensive, very dry. A perfect red for chicken) as he knocks. )
no subject
Welcome! Come on in. John Henry was just opening the wine.
[She will step back to the side to let them in, allowing some of the fresh cooked food to waft out into the hallway.
"Smells delicious," Sara smiles, stepping in and giving Rebekah a kiss on the cheek.]
no subject
( He steps in to kiss Rebekah's cheek next before presenting the wine. )
For after the first bottle.
( Sara will find Doc filling a decanter with a deep red blend.
"Hello Sara, Neal," he says nodding to Neal.
Neal takes his rat pack Fedora off and hangs it on the halltree, undoing his jacket and waiting for Sara's so he can hang them, too. )

"Enjoying your adult night off?"]
We're certainly intending to. How was your days?

Other than taking my namesake for a walk in the park and ice cream, I think I have a serious buyer lined up for June's place.
( There are so many memories there that he wants the right person to own it, to really cherish it and make it their own. It's why it's taken so long. He vets. )
no subject
[June was another charming member of their little gang who sadly was no longer with them, but at least her home was getting someone who would take care of it.]
no subject
( It's a serious undertaking for him.
Doc finishes with the bottle and drops it into their recycling, coming over to greet Sara.
"Hello," he says with a smile. )
no subject
[It's not as though they weren't just working together after all. She makes her way closer, intending to make herself useful.]
Anything that needs to go to the table?
no subject
The chicken is resting. The side dishes can be ladled into their vessels.
( But don't put yourself out, Sara!
Neal finds the wall of records Doc and Rebekah have been amassing. He scans the titles.
"What's our soundtrack tonight," he asks, perusing. )
no subject
I'm in a bluesy mood. What do you all think?
no subject
( He'll slide both out, one for now and one for later, always interested in Rebekah's life. )
no subject
[She misses her brothers fiercely, but she also loves her life in New York.]
Sometimes that's a pro, and sometimes it's a con.
no subject
( John-Henry lowers the lighting in the living room for the ambience, joining Sara in the kitchen.
"I know this was your line, but should you need any more help?" )
no subject
I've got it handled. I may not be a master chef, but I can put sides into bowls.
[She nods to a couple that are finished.]
If you want to start ferrying over those, though, I can't stop you.
no subject
( Neal nods.
"Maybe before long," he says, as the sounds of a saxophone waft through the apartment. )
no subject
[They'll find him eventually. Just a matter of time.]
no subject
( He likes Peter, too. He is the old fashioned type. The man not made anymore. Not in Purgatory, anyway.
Neal helps himself to the decanter and grabs four glasses, pouring one for everyone.
"This aroma..." )
no subject
[She brings the final dishes over and goes to pull out her chair.]
And I am starving, so let's eat.
no subject
( John-Henry takes the head of the table with Rebekah at the other, the couples across from one another but still able to mingle, lean, and cheers. )
To a delightful gathering.
no subject
[And with that they will settle in to enjoy the evening until at some point Doc's phone begins to ring, Donna's name flashing across the screen.]
no subject
( He gets up from his chair and steps out onto their small veranda. )
Hello, Donna. I am at this present moment entertaining a coworker, her husband, and my wife. Henry is with one of his uncles. I wouldn't presume you and Harvey have plans, but should you be near, you are more than welcome.
