| 65 Up to 3 people within 30 feet of you get electrocuted | 51 A spectral shield hovers near you for the next minute
( The blast surges forward, knocking Stiles and Donna into an open elevator. The doors close with a ding, the elevator traveling upward.
Recovering, Stiles cracks the joints in his neck, and resets his own shoulder. He notices shortly after that there's something hovering around him, following where he's facing and looking, an electrified, ethereal cloud of white. )
Uh, OK. Do you - are you seeing - not spots but --
( He blinks, grabbing the railing to pull himself up. As he moves forward to help Donna, an electrical surge shoots out of her and, thankfully against whatever is covering Stiles. Unthankfully, it enters the elevator and then the elevator controls, shutting it down completely. The elevator goes dark and then the emergency red light goes on.
Stiles stops his cowering once he realizes he was safe. )
[Donna's looking at her hands as she studies him, because electrocution is not part of the vampire starter pack. And she's been a vampire for a long time. She holds up a finger and puts herself on the opposite side of the elevator, just to be on the safe side.]
And it wasn't personal. Probably a result of whatever it was that was happening out there.
( He squints, turning his head so he can better see Donna. )
I appreciate you being careful, but, just believe me that I think I'll be fine if you -- surge again. Also, something tells me this thing might keep me safe. ( A beat. ) You don't think this is what's powering you, too?
( He brings a shaky hand up but doesn't touch the surface. )
[She's had a very long life, and she's found herself on the outskirts of witches more often than not (18).]
That, to me? Looked like wild magic. Which seems like it was nice to you, looking to protect you. But it might not have been nice to everyone else and we are stuck in an elevator.
[She reaches for her phone, hoping that she has a signal because she would very much like to check on Harvey right now.]
( Stiles' is more recent, knowing his age is forever frozen but past that, he'll never die. He'll outlive his dad, Scott's mom, probably Scott. It's clear being trapped in this elevator, he trapped himself. He didn't think through being a vampire because he didn't want to be dead. )
These things have backups, right?
( Something to jolt it back on? Maybe? He occupies himself, his fingers fidgeting, tapping each other with a sigh. )
You ever feel like you've walked into your own personal metaphor?
[She's been alive for a long time, and there's a certain limit on human experiences. Though there are pockets where she finds good things to keep her engaged. Working for Harvey has been one of them.
She watches him for a moment, taking in the mannerisms, the nerves, the daylight ring on his finger and because she's Donna, she nods (18):]
How long ago did you turn?
[And to put his mind at ease, she will flash her eyes, showing that she too is part of the same club.]
( Stiles would argue that life is not funny. Life is cruel and hard and unnecessary most of the time. It's waiting for hours in a hospital. It's his father being left in the dark and almost losing his job. It's his body and psyche being taken over by an ancient Japanese demon. It's fading away and all of your friends having to fight their way back to remembering you. And then years later, it's cutting them off, anyway.
Yeah, I don't either, but who'd be surprised. Now, vampire-Earnest. That I've never seen. Or heard about, but uh yeah, I'm a month - two, new. Maybe three. I tucked my tail between my legs and buried myself in my work. But, less than half a year.
( Not a newborn but not even close to a toddler. )
Bagged blood doesn't exactly help with everything else that comes with it. I didn't choose this. I know that's most other vampires, grr-arrgh, this happened to me, but I didn't. And then, I didn't want to die die, so why not just turn.
[Donna holds up her hand and brushes it to the side.]
People always make this decision about other people, and maybe it's true that you can't make a decision in a vacuum. But think about it now, while we're stuck here. If you think back to that moment - did you really want to die?
No. Of course not. I have my dark thoughts and some days it's next to impossible to get out of bed but I have a job to do and a father to make proud and a, a life to live.
[Her tone's a bit softer, more of the Mama Bear Donna, but sometimes they need a reminder that it's okay to want to live and still be a part of the world.]
Sure, there are some downsides to that choice, and it's not perfect, but no life is perfect. You got to keep yours, so now it's up to you to go after what you want and live it how you want to.
Yeah, they pay a very hefty retainer. Though these days we're more selective about who's butts we're covering.
[Donna likes David. Shady or not, she'll encourage Harvey to have his back. Besides, in her opinion there's very little witch business that isn't shady these days, because even the good ones can get pushed into dark corners. But that's not really the point.]
He's young. You make mistakes when you're young.
[Harvey is not that young, but, you know. Vampire years skew things.]

So, I was trying to save you, not -- trap you.

Everyone else being Lydia and the GQ model past his prime in the lobby.
(Also, lotta wild magic in New York often? He may not come back at this rate. Not that he's trying to stay. )

[Though it's clear as she says it that she means it fondly. But that's an unfortunate (7), so her phone fritzes in her hands and she swears.]

It's a lot, when you're first adjusting. But hey, you got a lucky era to be turned in. Access to bagged blood makes things so much easier.

Can't say the same for my phone though.
