[Yes, Malia definitely picked up on her name (16) and she pushes up from the bed she's lounging on and shakes her head. "No! We're on vacation!"
Sorry, Malia. Lydia wouldn't be bothering you if she had another option.]
One of the witches that helped us is making a move against their coven. They are looking for our help. Their current target is a sort of ... supernatural collector. They approached me tonight asking me if I could get us to act as bait. Apparently a banshee and hellhound that are connected the way we are is a pretty rare combo.
Honestly? I don't know yet. I told them I wasn't going to bring it to you until they outlined the plan for me and they haven't done that yet. So I guess for now it's a warning.
[But as far as what's going to happen after that plan arrives ...]
The witches they're going after ... they're bad people. I won't deny that. You've been lucky enough to stay out of this and I don't relish the idea of changing that. But I'm also worried that they have a trump card up their sleeve that they haven't shared.
My instincts say ... even if I say no, it might mean someone else getting hurt when they go to find new bait. Someone who isn't as well connected as we are so they may not find the need to ask first.
[She doesn't want to say the worst of these people who are supposed to be their allies, but Rusty did not inspire confidence. She would feel better if she wasn't doing this alone but she doesn't want to force him.]
And right now I'm just making sure I have my own contingencies in place. I already reached out to Jackson and Allison and if you decide to help, I'm going to assume that means Malia's coming to.
[Malia's face is sour at that, but she doesn't contradict Lydia either. It's more about her vacation being interrupted to go to Siberia of all places than it is about helping Lydia.]
She is. If we do this. When are they getting back to you with the whole plan? Also, is this quid pro quo? They helped you, so now you turn around and help them? Did you help them to this degree? Coming from someone on the outside, this feels a little imbalanced Lydia.
[Though Parrish pointing that out is something she hadn't thought of.]
No, actually. We don't owe them at all right now, because last I checked, Allison followed through on her end. So maybe that's leverage I can use to our advantage.
[Good thing she has an excellent lawyer waiting for her in the living room.]
[Malia watches him from her seat on the bed, trying to gauge where his head is at on this. None of this sounds good, and she doesn't like any of it, especially where Parrish is concerned. But that dislike is compounded by the fact that Lydia is dealing with this on her own. The witches don't know where Parrish is yet.
They should keep it that way, but at the same time:]
Do you want to go? So we can at least be closer?
[Because stupid Lydia is their stupid friend, so they should probably make sure she isn't going to get herself stupidly killed.]
( He takes a seat on the edge of Malia's bed and sends Stilinski a message that he's extending his leave again, but that if he's needed, he won't be in New Orleans. )
[After sending that text off to Derek, she will pause and also send one off to Peter. Just in case he might know something about shady witches, or could find a way to make himself useful.
She's been trying to participate in this relationship, whatever it is, so she tells him every time she might run off and get herself killed.]
[She's not going to let him out of her sight unless she absolutely has to. That's probably going to depend on how front and center they want her to be with the witches.
She looks down at the texts. To Derek:]
Lydia said Jackson is coming and she probably told Allison too. We should be okay.
( He may need it. He and Lydia are more than capable, but he doesn't know what they're walking into. She'll find out and update them and then they'll have nearly all the information. It's the 'nearly' part that worries him.
from Derek:
Do you need a ride to the airport?
From Peter:
I want you to see landmarks, to experience culture, to find yourself, not go on a wild goose chase in sub-zero conditions. You take me too literally.
Is there any chance I can convince you not to follow GI Deputy to Siberia? )

( He's facing the apartment now, eyes wide, no he doesn't know how he gets roped into these things. )
Are you looking for my help or are you warning me?

( That sounds like what desperate witches would do.
He raises an arm, hand resting against the doorway above him. )
Thank you for the heads up? What are your instincts telling you?

( He doesn't like this one bit, but like he'd let her go into this blind and without him if they need him, too. )

[She's still worried about what the witches didn't say, but that will come tomorrow.]
Tell Malia I'm sorry for interrupting your vacation.
no subject
( She will deal. )
Let me know. But, Lydia. You know if it comes down to it. I have your back.
no subject
[Once she has a bigger idea of what they're dealing with.]
Jackson is on his way, so I'm okay for now.
[She doesn't want him to worry about her.]

( And then no goodbye. He drops his hand and the phone in it as he walks back into the apartment. )
Some vacation.

( See how he just wedged 'we' into there so easily? )
no subject
[Not with these witches breathing down her neck.]
And if their attention isn't on you yet, better to be closer than they think.
[Heavy sign. So much for vacation indeed. She reaches for her phone.]
Cora's out of town so I'll give Derek a heads up that he's on his own for a while. Hopefully he won't get kidnapped again.

She's scary enough. I'm sure he'll be fine.
[A beat.]
Are you okay?
no subject
I'm okay. Worse comes to worst, I'm being turned over to a crazy witch in Siberia. Good thing I run hot.
( He's... okay. Not great. But, okay.
from Peter
SIBERIA?
from Derek
Do you need backup? )

Maybe. Haven't decided how we're going yet, but I'll let you know.
[To Peter:]
Nope.
[Look, she may be bad at articulating her feelings in a normal way, but that doesn't mean she hasn't got the feelings.]
