( That feels like a familiar metaphor (19) that it seems to resonate in him. It doesn't change everything. But, he can see how Caroline being around (and dead) might be better than dead (and gone.) )
Okay. Is there...anything we can do to help with the Thanksgiving prep? Slyly pass by our -- lecture? Maybe start over?
( He's not in the shower, he's half-dressed with a provided robe, sitting on his bed and looking up flights to Scotland, timing it out. He wouldn't even make it in time... )
[Miranda slows her initial reaction, taking her time to close the door before making her way across the room to look at the flights over his shoulder. She doesn't want him to go, but she also knows that if were Grayson, buried under a castle full of rubble halfway around the world, she wouldn't want to sit still either.
She peers at the flight times, before resting her hands on his shoulders.]
I understand why you want to go. But that's fifteen hours on the plane alone.
[She lets that amount of time sink in before continuing.]
Maybe it would be best to wait, just a little while. Bonnie's been sending updates, and while she hasn't found Dawn yet, you don't want to be on a plane, unable to answer the phone when she does.
[It's a sensation she's becoming intimately familiar with in the face of her children and the lives they've led, the ones they're still leading. But this kind of comfort she can do.]
But do you trust Bonnie? Or this ... Stefan or Scarlett or whoever is there with her?
Yeah, yeah I do. And, I'm worried about Buffy, too. Her sister. And everyone else there. The other slayers. They were all attacked through no fault of their own. Sometimes, I just - I hate the world.
( Even though he is one thing he also hates. Hunter. By blood and nature. )
[And she does just that, finding a bottle of Johnny Walker Dean stashed away for a special occasion - her daughter will buy him a replacement. But soon everyone is gathered around the table, the turkey is carved, and while the group is anxious, they still have a lovely meal.
And as they're rounding the corner to dessert, Elena's phone rings again, and she glances down at the caller ID, before getting up to excuse herself.]
Stefan and Dawn and Damon are all okay. And the former sheriff and her husband. The O'Hara's, too. We did lose a few slayers. We're all on the way to the hospital. We're okay, Elena.
[There's a relief that rolls through her, not just that all of her people are okay but that she doesn't have to comfort her brother through the process of grieving another partner. She hasn't been all that good at it in the past.]
Is that, Jeremy? Tell him Dawn has a broken leg, but she was on her way to the hospital maybe, thirty minutes earlier. She's okay. Barely worse for the wear.
Castles can be fixed. We can't have another Bonnie Bennet.
[Or anyone else who survived the castle attack. And she's sure there's a lot of people that were lost for Buffy and the others that they won't be able to get back.]
Stay safe and keep us posted. We'll let you know if we hear anything back here.
[And speak of the devil, as Elena is winding down with Bonnie, Jeremy's phone rings from an unknown number.]
Yeah. I'm not sure on all the details just yet - Scarlett said something about the Ivory Tower, and that seemed to mean something to Stefan? Isaac is doing some digging, but I'm not sure what it means beyond vampires.
They got some witches to go in and turn our own wards on us. At least, I think that's what it was? I came in on the tail end of the witch actually doing it and he was dead after everything went boom.
[She would have liked to interrogate any of the witches more, but for obvious revenge reasons they couldn't really let them live.]

That is a good place to start.
Miranda steps away, however, which is probably for the best because she's useless in the kitchen anyway.]
I'm going to go check on Jeremy.
[Because he's been in that shower a long time.]

[Miranda knocks lightly on his door, not wanting to barge her way in but wanting to make sure he's okay all the same.]
You alright in there?

I could take a plane to JFK and then fly into London before switching planes. I'd have to rent a car in Edinburgh.

No, I don't. I just feel so powerless.
( He hates that. )

[She rubs his shoulders gently as she moves around to look him in the eye.]
I'm sure Dawn will be fine. For all we know Bonnie's next update will be that they found her and she's safe. Don't give up hope yet.

( Nothing could make this easier. )

[She offers him a small smile. Sure, maybe she shouldn't advocate for alcohol but her son is an adult now. He can have a drink.]
C'mon, get dressed. I think I've figured out where Dean hides the good booze.
no subject
( That actually sounds nice. He drinks differently than he did as a teen. Smokes differently, too. He still smokes, but in moderation. )
OK.
( He slides off his bed to do just that, fishing out a wrinkled shirt - sorry, and pants. The robe's left on the ground.
He pulls shoes on. )
Find us some good booze.

Bonnie?

"Is that Bonnie?" )
Is that, Jeremy? Tell him Dawn has a broken leg, but she was on her way to the hospital maybe, thirty minutes earlier. She's okay. Barely worse for the wear.

That's so good to hear. If that's the case, I'm sure we'll hear from her soon. Are you headed back to London after this?
no subject
( Jeremy, relieved, holds his chest. Doesn't sink down to the ground. Or cry. He just leans up against the wall. )
We survived. The castle didn't.
no subject

( And the connection clicks. Don't mind if Bonnie takes a nap on the ride into town to the hospital.
Jeremy pulls his phone out, squinting.
"Unknown number. With... a lot of digits," he says, before answering it. "Dawn?" )
no subject
[She figures that's the important thing, given how they left their last phone call.]
My phone got smashed along with my leg but I'm at the hospital now, being stood vigil over by a werewolf and two Slayers.
[So she is both on the mend and has bodyguards.]
no subject
( But, he can breathe again. )
Dawn, I was so worried. What happened? The castle blew up?
no subject

( Because, while it is a tragedy, Bonnie, his girlfriend and his sister are alive. And, he heard, the Salvatore's, et al. )
