[Miranda slows her initial reaction, taking her time to close the door before making her way across the room to look at the flights over his shoulder. She doesn't want him to go, but she also knows that if were Grayson, buried under a castle full of rubble halfway around the world, she wouldn't want to sit still either.
She peers at the flight times, before resting her hands on his shoulders.]
I understand why you want to go. But that's fifteen hours on the plane alone.
[She lets that amount of time sink in before continuing.]
Maybe it would be best to wait, just a little while. Bonnie's been sending updates, and while she hasn't found Dawn yet, you don't want to be on a plane, unable to answer the phone when she does.
[It's a sensation she's becoming intimately familiar with in the face of her children and the lives they've led, the ones they're still leading. But this kind of comfort she can do.]
But do you trust Bonnie? Or this ... Stefan or Scarlett or whoever is there with her?
Yeah, yeah I do. And, I'm worried about Buffy, too. Her sister. And everyone else there. The other slayers. They were all attacked through no fault of their own. Sometimes, I just - I hate the world.

[And she does just that, finding a bottle of Johnny Walker Dean stashed away for a special occasion - her daughter will buy him a replacement. But soon everyone is gathered around the table, the turkey is carved, and while the group is anxious, they still have a lovely meal.
And as they're rounding the corner to dessert, Elena's phone rings again, and she glances down at the caller ID, before getting up to excuse herself.]
Stefan and Dawn and Damon are all okay. And the former sheriff and her husband. The O'Hara's, too. We did lose a few slayers. We're all on the way to the hospital. We're okay, Elena.
[There's a relief that rolls through her, not just that all of her people are okay but that she doesn't have to comfort her brother through the process of grieving another partner. She hasn't been all that good at it in the past.]
Is that, Jeremy? Tell him Dawn has a broken leg, but she was on her way to the hospital maybe, thirty minutes earlier. She's okay. Barely worse for the wear.
Castles can be fixed. We can't have another Bonnie Bennet.
[Or anyone else who survived the castle attack. And she's sure there's a lot of people that were lost for Buffy and the others that they won't be able to get back.]

Yeah. I'm not sure on all the details just yet - Scarlett said something about the Ivory Tower, and that seemed to mean something to Stefan? Isaac is doing some digging, but I'm not sure what it means beyond vampires.
They got some witches to go in and turn our own wards on us. At least, I think that's what it was? I came in on the tail end of the witch actually doing it and he was dead after everything went boom.
[She would have liked to interrogate any of the witches more, but for obvious revenge reasons they couldn't really let them live.]
Nope. The doctors currently have me on the good drugs, though I'm sure those will wear off. They said the break was pretty clean though so no surgery or anything. I should be out of here by tomorrow. They want to monitor me on account of the collapsing castle.
[But she's fine, she promises.]
And they said I should be good to fly, so I can still come out to Kansas after, if you still want me to do that.
