He pushes up from the couch, leaving the book on the cushion. )

( Dean's at the table with the Salvatore's and Buffy. They're the only people he really knows, but when he gets word Elena's good, he's up, finishing the last of his beer and can be caught heading to find - well - his brother. )

[And he spots Dean before making his way closer.]

Hey. You got a minute?

[cholesterol]

Yeah. You almost ready? Elena's being discharged. And, Ranger Rick thought she might be in danger. Some witch named Harvey.

( ... )

We'll talk about it on the way.

[They can head to Elena first. In fact, it might be a good way to distract Dean after he drops the news.]

( Uh - sure. Fine. He's driving, though. )

Figured we could - clean up after ourselves. ( Dean. He walks down the line of cars to the Impala, unlocking it and joining his brother. The engine purrs to life and he takes off. ) So uh, what are we talking about?

[Sam takes a deep breath as he leans back against the seat.]

Jack wants to go on a gradation trip with his friends.

[cholesterol]

( Actually, that's not as bad as he thought, or expected. He deserves one. Like he deserves friends. )

Where?

Europe.

[Just gonna rip off that bandaid.]

[cholesterol]

He's going with the overprivileged supes?

( When he discussed it with Jo, he didn't think Jack was involved. )

And how is he getting there?

[Sam gives him a look.]

How else is he going to get to Europe, Dean? He can't drive there.

[cholesterol]

Cas'll fly him.

( Right? He knows. Don't say it. Don't say it. He looks front. )

Better be in a demon free fly zone.

[Deep breath. Just ... deep breath.]

I'm sure he'll be fine. It's not like he's going to be alone.

That's supposed to make me feel better.

( But, underneath, silently, it does. )

So, witches after Elena. What do you think that's about?

She is the doppelganger.

[Witches tend to go nuts for that sort of thing.]

I'm surprised she doesn't have more covens watching her, to be honest.

[cholesterol]

Unless she does. We don't know it. Think they have a doppelganger LoJack on her? She survived, Sam. And suddenly, more out of town witches.

( He turns the music off, flicking the switch. )

Can't be a coincidence.

She's the doppelganger, Dean.

[It bears repeating.]

I think there are always going to be witches. And she seems to be doing fine taking care of herself. It's not like Mystic Falls is a quiet town.

[cholesterol]

Witches are wildcards, Sam.

( He knows she can take care of herself. )

Yeah, they are. But she also has plenty of witches on her side too.

[And he does not want to get stuck in the middle of a witch war.

Then, he glances over at his brother curiously.]

Do you want to stick around?

[cholesterol]

What's the alternative? Go back to the Bunker. Sweat out Jack's first vacation? You were getting chummy with Allison. Does she need us?

( Yes, he'd want to stay. Should he? He doesn't know. He doesn't do this, nor does he do it well. So, it's easier to turn it around on his brother and Allison. What would she prefer. )

I don't know. She hasn't brought up next moves yet.

[He glances over at his brother again.]

But if you want to stay, you should stay.

[cholesterol]

And? What are you going to do?

( He doesn't know what he wants. He knows he hated when he heard Elena was in a car accident. He knows it's been years since he's had his heart react like he thinks it did. But, this is Dean and even to his brother, he's not about to cry all his feelings out. )

Making plans?

[He's spitballing.]

I can keep myself busy. I'm sure Allison will have things for me to do. Just ... think about it.

[And with that, they arrive at Elena's and get to work.]

( Dean will think about it.

Getting to work entails more... Dean cleaning up after himself, pulling shirts down, doing a quick through-the-bathroom/kitchen spruce. But it turns more into Dean doing some welcome home Elena food and Sam has to ... do more of the cleaning.

It's simple, whatever Elena had in her fridge or cabinets, Dean Chopped-style whips something up. )
