Bela glances over to Elijah and looks back at him.]
I can take our things upstairs if you want to catch up with your brother?
[Aka are they staying? It's Elijah's call and she won't push him.]
no subject
"Shall we?"
Klaus takes one of the back staircases, beating them to the parlor by moments as he grabs a decanter already filling glasses for their - well, guests and family, he supposes. )
Make yourselves at home. Again.
no subject
[She teases as she goes to settle into one of the chairs, glancing around at the sitting room as she refamiliarizes herself with it.]
Have you remodeled recently?
no subject
No, in fact I've been overwhelmed with all my posturing. I believe the last time Rebekah was here, she did a rearrange. Her and her cowboy spent a long summer. Henry is growing right before our very eyes. ( Speaking of, to drive that particular knife in with just the right twist, he smiles at his brother. ) Have you met Henry? Or, John-Henry?
no subject
[She'll take that comment for herself, for now.]
Though she seems quite happy with her life in New York. It's good to see.
no subject
It is. Our sister got what she wanted, and a one in a million union was born. Well. I can save that trifle for when you two reunite. Tell me, how was Prague?
( Careful. )
no subject
[And she's not going to get into the hunter shenanigans, that's for Klaus and Hope to discuss.]
I hear she made a new friend as well.
[Yes, let's direct to the TMZ of it all, not the life or death scenarios.]
no subject
( Yes, he saw this in passing on a tabloid of all things. But, he did not do any research beyond that. )
It seems everyone got into some bit of trouble. These hunters and their lucky breaks that turn into mistakes. You'd assume they'd learn.
no subject
[She tips her head to the side.]
It's a shame that they'll only continue to suffer for it.
no subject
( He's decided. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow. But they have signed their own death warrants.
"And, it seems, they are not working alone," Elijah says. "Bonnie Bennett lost her magic thanks to a hunter who captured her and a werewolf named Isaac." )

[Cami raises her eyebrows.
"Freya takes a lot of witch meetings these days. All I know about this one is that he's a friend of a friend of Marcel's."]
no subject
Freya is an esteemed witch. They'd rather meet with her than Davina Claire.
no subject
Bela smirks.]
Good for her, then.
no subject
( Because everything not normal about her targeted their family for so long. )
I wasn't aware there were days off for the regent.
no subject
[That being Vincent, because Vincent and Cami are still friends.]
no subject
Second, third, or anything in command, Davina has a responsibility to this city. Freya finds it in the goodness of her heart to take these meetings. She does not have to.
( Bela's phone buzzes, William or however she's programmed his name into her phone flashing. )
no subject
Before Bela can comment, the phone rings and she frowns at the caller ID. Pushing to her feet, she offers them an apologetic smile before stepping out.][She makes her way down to the courtyard before pressing her phone to her ear.]
William?
no subject
William speaks, frantically. He tries, tries to hold it together. (5)> Okay, he really likes him. )
If I drop you a pin, can you get there as fast as you can? My asset inside Monroe's outfit has been compromised.
no subject
[Before she can finish the sentence, a loud BOOM rocks through the Abattoir. Bela stumbles, moving to brace herself on a nearby chair to catch her balance, before straightening.
Her feet move out of the arch to the door, looking down the street to see the bright orange glow of flames coming from the main stretch of the Quarter.]
... Oh my god.
[Meanwhile, in the parlor, Cami also snaps towards the sound, eyes widening in concern.
"Was that the Quarter?"]
no subject
( Elijah's (10) by the window and Klaus' (4) by the painting ensure that all they experience is the blast, the rocking, and in Elijah's case, the firestorm.
"What in," Elijah mutters. "Niklaus."
William, across the country (14) hears the blast. )
What was that?
no subject
[Because there's the difference between a fire and an explosion, and that is definitely an explosion.]
Whatever it is that's happening, it's starting now.
[The boys are completely thrown by the explosion ruining their day, but Cami has her eyes on the prize (15). Her eyes fall on Hayley's bedroom across the way, and then widen as the sharp edges of broken glass in the window come into focus.
"Klaus, Hayley's window is broken." And she points, across the street to the bedroom.]
no subject
Klaus immediately goes to the window, phone in hand trying to call Hayley. )
What fresh Hell.

William does manage to find one news report, a worn looking reporter from the local news, a little green around the gills, having been sent out to cut her teeth on a puff piece about beignets and finds herself in the middle of a disaster zone. Behind her are panicking people, and the charred out remains of a local bar.
"Tragedy has struck here at Rousseau's this evening as the French Quarter staple was incinerated in a yet unknown blast. As residents of the city gathered for the annual beignet festival, the local bar exploded in a massive fire. In fact, it's a miracle that the buildings on either side weren't harmed --"
Ring-ring.
Bela zooms back up to the sitting room, looking wide-eyed and out of breath as she delivers the news.]
It was Rousseau's. They hit Rousseau's.
["Freya --" is the first word out of Cami's mouth the second she says it, but before anyone can comment further, someone answers Klaus's call.
Unfortunately, that someone is not Hayley.
Her voice is smooth and cool, and not one he recognizes, as while Klaus has tangled with her hunters before, they've never met face to face. But she also doesn't bother introducing herself, instead choosing to open with:
"You know, I have to say, your sister is quite impressive. She couldn't save them all, but containing the fire to one building, keeping it from taking out a city block? Who knew Klaus Mikaelson's older sister was so soft hearted for collateral damage."]
no subject
"I'll see if there's any other news reports. Any other... activity. Cooper? Cooper?"
Klaus looks back as the voice picks up. )
Certainly not someone who knows the last person they should have crossed is a Mikaelson. Witch, hybrid, or otherwise, we are not a family to be trifled with. Return Hayley and I won't kill you and your cohorts agonizingly slowly.
no subject
[Bela steps out again, trying to keep one ear on Klaus' phone call but also trying to manage the anxiety of the man on the other end of the phone.
"Oh, don't worry. I will. When the time is right. But you should know that it's not just the Crescent Alpha. I also have her Hale bedmate. I have the French Quarter regent. I have your little pet vampire that you let pretend is in charge. And, I even have your human patsy, who sells out his own people so that you can drown this city in fire and blood."
The tension in Monroe's voice raises just a little at that last one. He may be the one she hates most.
"Honestly, I thought we would be having this conversation later, but you called and I just couldn't resist. And I thought I would do you the courtesy of telling you that I'm coming for you too. That before the week is out, we will see each other face to face, and I will put an end to your murderous dynasty once and for all."]
