[Maintaining their local ties in New Orleans is important.
It's one thing to simply manage their human cases an human problems, but New Orleans has been trying to build something better; has been trying to build a community, and with Eliot working his way through being a vampire, she wanted him to have some additional support beyond Sophie.
All the things she never had and had to fight and claw for himself.
Vincent, also, likes to make use of their skill set on occasion. If some problems happen to float his way, he's happy to refer them to Team Leverage. Which means when those problems come up, she's more than happy to have dinner with Vincent to talk about it.
She's a social vampire, what can she say?
It's Eliot's turn to cook, and as Sophie is pouring wine for their guest, she catches the sound of footsteps just outside their apartment. She pauses, glancing back towards the windows, before she frowns.]
Vincent, did you invite someone else to dinner?
["No," Vincent frowns as he turns to face her. "Why?"]
( Eliot likes Marcel, Vincent and Elijah. They're principled and they have a code they abide by. Josh reminds him a little too much of Hardison - always chatty - he'll take the hair compliments, though. Aiden feels like a wildcard but he holds his own in a fight. Eliot respects that. Plus, he's always had a thing for young love. Just youngsters in general. Shove it, they're freakin youngsters compared to him.
The less said about him being a vampire, the better. He handles it like he handles all of his other baggage. He just does. He shoulders it. He shows his vulnerability, but always on his own terms.
Except for Parker, who, when she gets it into her gourd, peppers him with questions. She's gotten better over the years, but she's still Parker.
It's his family.
They still haven't told Wilson or Brianna.
Eliot's here like Sophie used to be for Nate in the past. He's another body. He listens. Lends support. Helps strategize an in if there needs to be. In this case, he listens from the open concept kitchen. He's as good with a knife in the kitchen as he is in a skirmish. He just is. He removes the headband and apron he had on after transferring the food to their plates he'd set out.
Eliot, too, catches the footsteps. (15).
His hand regrips his silicone spatula as he turns the burners down to a simmer. He sees what's coming. )
Because the Romanian armed forces are camping out outside your door.
Especially if you're in their crosshairs. Any reason why you would be?
( And. )
They're a back way out of here?
( He assesses the knife in his hand, the pot, other weapons he has on hand so Sophie and Vincent can get away until they can figure out why the Romanian armed forces is targeting Vincent. )
[Vincent shakes his head. "I can't think of anyone I've even done business with that would be Romanian."
Sophie stops responding, having gotten close to the door and peering out the window. Two Romanian commandos, definitely, but it's the third member of their merry band that catches her interest - a slim man in a well tailored suit, lighting a cigarette with his finger, weighing his options.
Ah-hah. That makes a little more sense.
She drops her level to a voice that only Eliot can hear.]
( He doesn't drop his volume, but he puts two and two together. )
Gauntlet.
( Only reason why they'd come this far. Since Vincent hadn't answered his last question, he does a quick walk around Vincent's apartment (13 to assess) to answer his own question before asking: )
["I'm the right hand of the regent of New Orleans. Under normal circumstances?" There's a retinue of witches nearby at all times, and if he's lucky, Marcel's come by for a drink and a chat. Normally he's not alone and left to his own devices.
Which is why he's having dinner with a pair of vampires, not by himself. He almost never makes a show of his being home alone.
( He tries a few items he sees, one long staff that looks durable. He tests it in his hands, spinning it around. )
This priceless?
( Also, he'd bet poker chips this is the Gauntlet. It's a long way to go for the Romanians. They don't have a foothold, or a presence, in New Orleans. )
( Eliot the vampire shield, weapon in hand, navigates Vincent's apartment and reaches the patio door, exiting first - ready to take any direct hit or shot that might be made.
Scoping the patio out, is there a way down or off of it? Is it close enough to Davina's if they made the leap? )
[Vincent will point to what looks like a fire escape-esque staircase that they can descend back to the ground. He can't see anything beneath them (5), but he's not a vampire, he can't see in the dark.
In the meantime, at the front door, Sophie will open it, much to the surprise of the commandos and witch sitting there.]
Hello, boys. I think you decided to attack the wrong house.
[The witch's eyes widen. "Oh, shit. You're ..."]
Yes. I am.
[Her eyes turn red and her fangs drop as she reaches for the nearest one and pulls them in for a drink.]
[Vincent considers the options quietly. "If we can get to my car, we can head across the river to Marcel's. If not the car, Davina may be home, but if this is a witch war, I don't want to bring that to her door."
Marcel can handle it. He's Marcel and near-impossible to kill.
As they reach the bottom of the stairs, he points to where the sedan is sitting in the complex parking lot. But Eliot will pick up the sound of feet moving in from behind them as he does.]
( He catches them when they're thrown but then hears people moving in from behind and )Here.( he tosses them back, running past Vincent and ready to go toe-to-toe with whomever is following them, pole at the ready. )
[Vincent takes the keys back and runs for the car, seeing the commandos coming to try and cut him off. He raises his hands, murmuring a spell to fling them away from him (14 vs. 11), clearing the path to the car.
In the meantime, three commandos are going to come right for Eliot, raising their batons to take swings at him (16, 11, 15).]
( Eliot takes the first two swings head on, but catches the third in his hand (nat 20), wresting it out of his hand, he uses both weapons, trying to catch commando 1's baton with his new one, to bring it down to the ground before kicking the de-batoned Commando 3. This is where he showcases himself! )
[He does! And another commando gets thrown his way from what Vincent is up to, but he's managed to make it to his car where he pulls open the door and dives into the backseat just before someone tries to grab hold of him and pull him back out.
The commandos will try to come at Eliot again, even without their weapons (3, 10, 14), but from somewhere above them, someone will shout "Vampires!" and a body with an obvious bite in the neck drops to the ground nearby.]
[The first one lands (2), but the other two miss (7, 15) as they start to dance away, give them a little distance. Another body drops from above, and shortly after Sophie follows, glancing between Vincent shut into his car and Eliot with his commandos.]
[The first blow takes the legs out from under the guy, sending him down hard (1). The other two also take the hits before (10, 10), before coming back swinging again (2, nat 20).]
( Eliot dodges the first and is pushed back into a car, hard, breaking the glass on the door before landing with a thud.
Shooting his head up, he tosses one of the batons hard back at number two (16) to land against his chest and jumps back up, trying to slam a kick into number three. (14) )

Smart man. Romanians always make things more complicated than they need to be.

Take him, go. I'll stall these guys. If they brought in armed forced there might be some covering the back.
