[Witch 2 just barely manages to hold on to the spell (7), but keeps Kieran pinned in place for now. One tries to deflect the encryption spell (7), but isn't fast enough to do so.
Kieran tries to break free the of the binding (13 vs. 2), and does manage to do so, before gritting her teeth.]
That's not yours to mess with.
["Come on, Kiki. You think a witch war was going to happen and I was just going to conveniently forget your little project?"]
Fuck off, Bruno.
[Kieran lifts some of the pencils off her desk and goes to throw them at Bruno, aka Witch 1, (18 vs. 17), and he manages to twist away so that they don't land in his eye, but they do bury themselves in his shoulder.
He grits his teeth in anger, before raising a hand in Julian's direction (10), and if he fails a crushing pressure begins to form around his chest, holding him in place.
"I need your brain, Kieran. I don't need him. So why don't we make a deal that works for both of us."]
( Julian has never been the stronger sibling, and that spell lands square on his heart, a squeeze rendering him immobile as he falls to his knees trying to breathe through the worst heartburn he's ever felt before (4).
He cries out, trying to push through the pain but he's unable to (6). All he can do is helplessly watch his partner struggle against the chains. It gives him an idea he definitely can't try this turn, because, pain. )
Kieran slowly lowers her arms, willing to gamble a lot of things, but not with her brother's life.]
What do you fucking want?
["That's more like it," Bruno replies. "Is the project complete?"
Kieran shakes her head.]
No. I'm still tweaking things. But I'm close.
["Alright. Here's what we're going to do. I'll let your brother live. You come with us, and when you're finished, you use it on us." What happens after that? Well, they'll see what happens. Bruno isn't promising anything, and Kieran isn't asking. The longer she can stall the better.]
You sure about this? Once I leave with you, I can't guarantee how this is going to go. Keep running and you might stay ahead of the Gauntlet.
["I think having the power of magic and the immortality of a vampire will suit me just fine."
Kieran realizes, in that instant, that he doesn't realize who she's been spending her time with. So she nods, willing to take the gamble.]
Let my brother go first.
[Bruno shrugs, before releasing the vice in Julian's chest, leaving him to collapse on the floor. "Drop your phone."
She nods, pulling it out of her pocket and moving closer to gather her journals to her chest. Bruno places a hand on her shoulder and raises a hand (13).
"See you around, Julian. Ad somnum."
And once Julian goes down (or appears to), he and the witches will disappear on in a roll of the evening fog.]
( Everything plays out in front of Julian, but he's unable to stop it before he drops into a deep sleep.
When he's woken up, his sister's boyfriend is standing over him, slapping his cheek lightly to wake him up. Kol has already freed Mickey-Crash, and tied up Wrong Mickey in their stead with the same chains - before tasking Mickey-Crash with inspecting what's left of his girlfriend's notes.
"Come on, we don't have all night," Kol says as Julian comes to, blinking awake. )
Kol?
("Kol," he sits back, then stands up to turn back to Crash, who Julian remembers was in trouble as he pushes himself groggily to his feet. )
Cra - ( And he sees them behind the desk. ) sh. Where's -
("Your sister. I was going to ask you the same thing. Well?" Kol asks Crash. Any answers there? )
"Bruno," whoever Bruno is, took her so she could finish her project and he could be a direct recipient. Or at least that's what I gathered.
[They were dealing with silver poisoning at the time, so naturally their focus was a little drawn. They're still recovering. There are still fine glitches when they tries to shift, and both men can likely see the silver burns on their arms from where they were bound.
Their mood is also not what it usually is, but it's hard to be your usual glib self when you've had a Night.
They tips their head towards the bound shapeshifter. They very much want to get out of this skin, but until the tonic Vita injected them with gets out of their system, they're stuck this way.]
She probably knows where they're hiding out, don't you Vita?
["Aww, you're not bitter about this, are you?" Vita tips her head to the side, still wearing "Mickey" like a new dress. "It's just business, Crash. You know how things go. Or have you forgotten after being gone for so long?"]
("Bold, forcing a clinical trial on themself, but I assume they're in dire, dire straits," Kol says, unmoved and turning his attention to Not-Crash-Mickey. Right. Vita.
Julian, himself, and no longer in pain, feels a vengeance rise within him. It's a darkness he hasn't felt since meeting Crash, since his sister saved him. The dark pit in his soul, and around the corners of his heart has always been there inside him. But his sister balances it out. Crash balances it out. And both were put in danger. And one is missing. )
Tell us. Or, I will make you shift into the most grotesque thing I can think of and lock you in like that, forever.
[Vita, unfortunately, is not one to be easily intimidated (18). "I'm not your problem, big boy. And threats don't really get you as far as you think."
Crash rubs their forehead with one hand, before pushing up and turning to face his sister.]
Have you already told him where I am?
[Vita gives a small shrug, or as much as she can shrug in her current predicament. "I mean, Dad's been wanting to hear from you. You don't call, you don't write. You just skitter around with your little underground rats and don't actually do anything for the family that raised you."]
Shit.
["Mmm-hmm. So your new squeeze can do whatever he wants to me. Dad's still gonna bring you home."]
Where would they take my sister. I won't ask again.
( He does have another avenue, however, moving around the desk, leaving Kol to his perusal, standing square in front of Vida. Reading her. Pinpointing. And then, right before her eyes he shifts. They're his clothes, but now he's someone else, someone he's plucked from her mind, and from the back Kol doesn't recognize them, but maybe Crash does. Sorry, Crash if this brings you nightmares. A righteous (9) to pull someone out that might make a difference. )
[Well, whoever it is, it definitely seems to get under Vita's skin (2). Her eyes widen and she starts to push backwards so that she gets away from them. "What the fuck, Crash?"
Crash turns to look, tipping their head to the side and raising an eyebrow. The face doesn't mean anything to them, but they are enjoying watching their sister squirm.]
I would answer him, Vita. Seems he means business.
[She grits her teeth before shaking her head. "Fine, fine! They got a warehouse on the other side of the river. The address is in my phone."]
Kol, impressed, leans in to Crash, colorful commentary is sometimes a skill. In Kol's case. )
Did you know your boyfriend was able to do that?
("Was that so hard?" he asks, shifting back in the blink of an eye. Julian, now looking like Julian, turns back. "What are we going to do with your sister?")
The question regarding his sister is a lot more complicated though. There are no warm family feelings here, no complicated decisions to be made. They don't enjoy killing people, but Mikaelsons can be vengeful when it comes to their own, and Crash doesn't care enough to intervene if Kol decides he wants more of a pound of flesh than he will be getting.
Vita, also, is starting to realize that, and she starts to scramble again. "Crash, c'mon. I wouldn't have taken this job if I knew the Mikaelsons were involved. I was just selling information. I can go back and tell Dad that you're gone, and it'll be fine!"
They consider, before shrugging.]
Do whatever you need to do. I need to go deal with some stuff before we go get Kieran.
[And they will head out of the workroom to the bathroom where they have to do some ... truly gross stuff to get rid of the silver poisoning. It's not recommended you follow.]
[Vita shifts uncomfortably before sighing. "He's our dad. He takes care of us, taught us the craft. I never had the problems with him that Crash did but they don't get along. A few years back, Crash hooked up with the Underground and fell off the radar, and we haven't seen them since. Dad's been looking for them."]
[She rolls her eyes. "No, like ... the shapeshifter way of life. How to craft a persona or pretend to be another person so that you can gain information and sell it to the highest bidder. Or use them to do stuff you don't want to get caught doing. How to determine what information is valuable and what's bullshit."]
[She shrugs. "Everyone's gotta live somehow. We're just behaving how we were designed."]
Still doesn't make it any less shitty.
[The voice that responds is deeper than Crash's usual personas, and comes from a bit higher. Tall and broad is the name of the game - if they're going to go bust some heads, they might as well have the muscle mass for it. They briefly considered stealing one of Vita's looks in order to play as her, but in the end, they decided that it wasn't worth the effort. They've never been good at imitation really.
Vita rolls her eyes. "Still don't understand why you were Dad's favorite."]
( He leaves Vita sitting there, tied up, before turning back and joining his love's new body. He sizes him up. Nods. It's not the time to revel in the differences in the bedroom he can get from his person - but, yeah, it passes through his mind. )
Your call, if you think Vita will be of help. If you trust them.
[Crash looks at the three of them, because of the person who would stay behind to mind her, it would be them. Which would mean they got all dressed up for nothing.
That said they would. They're not looking to take the place of the either of the two people who love Kieran most.]
I can. But the chains should hold her, and if they don't - I was going to head back to base after this regardless until I'm back off Dad's radar. She's already spilled the beans.
("But, darling, don't you want to go to the big dance?" Kol asks. "I'm not saying she needs to be minding. I'm asking. You should flex your new muscles. Couldn't Julian spell her inside while we have our fun?"
Julian smirks at that. )
Yeah, yeah I could. And anyone who came back to try and help her. I can tie it to the sun. We'd have all night.
( It's not his best work, he's in a hurry, and was in great pain earlier, but he's determined to get to rescuing, too. (6) With one word, he tries reinforcing his poor attempt: (11) and follows his person and his sister's person. Let's get to saving! )
[And off they go, following the address on Vita's phone back to the warehouse in question. Inside, Kieran is leaning over her notes as she tries to work through the last few kinks in the project.
Very slowly.
She knows it's just a matter of time before her people come for her, so she's just buying them as much time as she can. She is facing the windows that lead out onto the street, looking for familiar faces (17).]
